iPhone 12 vs iPhone 11 Pro: A Tough Choice

It is that time of the year again, apple's new adapter-less iPhones are upon us, and I see a lot of people wondering whether they should upgrade at the same time, newer iPhones means better prices than ever on. Last year's iPhones this pitches last year's iPhone 11 Pro directly in competition with this year's iPhone 12. I've been using both of them for quite some time now. So allow me to help you decide. I'm Rohan from techytechtech, and here we go well look at both these devices, and you can tell that this is not going to be a very easy to make choice when it comes to the in-hand feel and design. The iPhone 12 shines with the hot new flat edge design, language, the mad aluminum edges and the totally flat display, but the iPhone 11 Pro is a pro iPhone, which means it has a shiny but more durable, stainless steel frame and the immensely better looking and feeling frosted glass back.

The iPhone 12 is a lot lighter, even though it's larger, which makes it feel significantly less dense in hand compared to the heavier iPhone 11 Pro. To be honest, it's all purely personal preference. I would have preferred the frosted glass back of the iPhone 7 pro with the matte edges of the iPhone 12, but then again that isn't a possibility and between these two phones I would pick the iPhone 11 Pro when it comes to the in-hand feel and aesthetics flip over to the displays, and we have somewhat of an interesting story here. The display on both these phones is flat, but the iPhone 12 is flatter than the iPhone 11 Pro. Allow me to explain the iPhone 11 Pro has a 2.5 d glass atop, a flat display panel, which means that the glass curves off very slightly towards the edges. The usable glass area above the display panel is still mostly flat, though in case of the iPhone 12.

It is more 2d than 2.5 d, which means that the glass does not curve at all towards the edges. It looks spotless and cutting edge, but aesthetics aside, Apple has also put their new ceramic shield on the display of the newer iPhone 12, which, according to apple, provides four times more drop protection. I cannot comment if it is actually four times and I definitely cannot test it out, but I guess it is safe to assume that the iPhone 12 class should be more shatter resistant. Despite all that, in my experience, both phones are still equally likely to get scratches. So a screen protector is still very much recommended, no matter which phone you end up.

Picking talking about the actual display quality they are both actually very similar, see the thing with the iPhone 12 is that its display is probably the biggest hardware update from the iPhone 11 jumping from an LCD panel to a super retainer Dr panel, which is the same display technology found in the more expensive iPhone pro lineup. So what has traditionally been an area of clear superiority for the iPhone pros is a level ground now, both the iPhone 12 and the iPhone 11 Pro have 60 hertz excellent quality, OLED panels with roughly the same resolution and pixel density, the iPhone 11 Pro can go brighter at 800 nits, but I haven't really noticed any difference in my day-to-day usage. In my opinion, the only differentiating point between the display on these two phones is when you talk about the display size, the iPhone 12 has a 6.1 inch display compared to the 5.8 inch panel on the 11 pro, but since the bezels are smaller, the physical footprint size difference of the phones isn't really very significant if you've always liked the size of the iPhone, 10r or 11 better, but did not pick it up because of the display. The iPhone 12 is definitely the most suitable choice for you. However, if you found the iPhone 12 or 10r or 11 a little too big for comfort, the iPhone 7 pro should be your pick as it is the last of its size, since the 12 pro has gotten a size increment too talking about software and performance.

This is, as short, a debating point as ever. Both phones offer exactly the same software experience with iOS 14 with blazing fast performance. No slow-downs, no lags it's basically as good as it can possibly get. Frankly, I used the two generation old iPhone 10r a few days ago, and even that feels nearly as fast as the new iPhone 12. , it's safe to say that, as of today, the iPhone 12 is not superior to the iPhone 9 pro in terms of real life performance, despite having a significantly more powerful chip in the a14.

But I did say, as of today see every phone will slow down eventually, even if that happens many years down the line and when that time comes, the iPhone 7 pro will slow down faster, because this phone has already completed one full year of its life cycle compared to the iPhone 12, which has barely completed a full month. So if you want to get a phone which lasts as long as possible and stays smooth as long as possible, the iPhone 12 will definitely fare better. Let's talk about the cameras now in terms of optics. The iPhone 7 pro has a triple camera setup on the rear, which includes an f 1.8 primary camera and f 2.4 ultra-wide and a f2 telephoto camera. On the other hand, the iPhone 12 sports, a dual camera setup on the rear, featuring NF 1.6 primary camera and an f 2.4 ultra-wide camera do note that all these cameras shoot 12 megapixels, let's find out how they perform in real life. As always, we'll talk about the photos first and then move on to the videos thanks to apple's image, processing and diffusion.

The primary camera performance on both these iPhones is perfect. I found that the pictures shot on the iPhone 12 are slightly better in terms of exposure, noise processing and, in some cases, even HDR processing, the iPhone 12 sports, a brighter ultra-wide camera and delivers moderately sharper pictures when compared to the pictures shown on the iPhone 11 Pro's ultra-wide angle camera when it comes to zooming in the pictures shot on the 11 pro are sharper with more details because of the dedicated telephoto lens. On the other hand, the iPhone 12 delivers directly 2x zoomed in stills, which are ok, even good, but not great front. Camera performance is above average on both devices with accurate skin tones. However, cell features on the iPhone 12 are slightly better in terms of noise processing and exposure portraits shot on the iPhone 12 have more accurate.

Subject: separation thanks to the dedicated telephoto camera on the iPhone 11 Pro it can show 2x optically zoomed in portraits, which tend to look more natural with good both low light performance is where the iPhone 12 really shines. Night mode on the iPhone 12 works on all cameras, while it is limited to the primary camera only on the iPhone 11 Pro. The pictures shown on the iPhone 12 are also brighter than the ones shot on the iPhone 11 Pro moving on to the videos. Both devices are similar in terms of video resolutions and frame rates for all cameras. Overall, video quality is excellent on both devices.

In fact, a regular user won't be able to spot the differences between videos shot on both these iPhones do note that the iPhone 12 has support for Dolby Vision. It can shoot edit and playback Dolby Vision, HDR video content. This is a really, really useful feature if you are a content creator or own. A HDR display also the load light videos shown on the iPhone 12 are brighter and well exposed in some shooting environments like streets. To conclude, both iPhones have excellent cameras which capture high quality media with the same seamless camera app user experience, even though it lacks a telephoto lens and has several improvements.

I'd still pick the iPhone 12 for its better low light performance, image, processing, video shooting and the newer hardware. They are more useful to me than just a dedicated telephoto lens, as is the case with the iPhone 11 Pro. However, if you are an iPhone 11 Pro user, I simply cannot recommend upgrading to the iPhone 12 just for the camera enhancements, because the differences are not really that significant moving on. I also wanted to talk a bit about the battery life, because this was a surprise for me. Larger phones are supposed to have better battery life since they back larger battery packs right as it turns out.

That is not always the case, because in my usage, the iPhone 11 Pro actually showed noticeably better endurance than the iPhone 12. A bit of research showed that the iPhone 7 pro actually packs a higher capacity battery pack, even though it's a smaller phone. What surprises me is that the iPhone 7 pro that I'm using for this review is a year-old phone that was purchased back in 2019. So I can imagine that the difference in battery life would be even more when comparing brand-new phones with fresh battery packs. Again, that is not to say that the iPhone 12 has bad battery life.

It's actually pretty solid and easily lasts you a full day. It's just that the iPhone 11 Pro can last a bit longer. Now, both these phones support wireless charging, although the iPhone 12 takes it a step further, with support for faster 15 watt wireless charging with apple's new Maxwell technology, the same technology also allows you to use a lot of interesting accessories, so do check it out if you care for stuff like that, the iPhone 11 Pro will obviously not be compatible with max of accessories. Another thing worth noting is that, with any new iPhone 11 Pro, you will find a fast charging, brick type c, to lightning cable and wired AirPods in the box with the iPhone 12. As you probably know, you will get the type c to lightning cable, only factor the cost of the power adapter in when you compare the pricing of both these phones.

Before I conclude, I would also like to add that the iPhone 12 is a 5g equipped phone. In fact, it's the first 5g equipped iPhone, while the iPhone 11 Pro does not have 5g. I know 5g is not widely available today, but it should be more prominent in one or two years, maybe three, but it should be there in one or two years, if you plan to use your phone for that long, like most of us, will to factor this in. To conclude, I hate to say this, but I just cannot pick a clear winner here. Both these phones offer a lot of punch for what you pay and both these phones should leave all kinds of users very happy with their purchase.

I know that I'd be a happy user if I end up with either of them, but if it were me choosing, I would still probably pick the iPhone 12 after a lot of careful deliberation only because I am obsessed with the newest and latest, but anyway, thank you for watching this video and if you feel like it, helped you out help us back by liking.
