iPhone 12 Pro Vs iPhone 12 Pro Max Review Comparison - Should I buy the iPhone 12 Pro or 12 Pro Max?

So this year we got four new iPhones. We got four iPhone 12 models, and they are the iPhone 12 mini the iPhone 12 normal, the iPhone 12 Pro and the iPhone 12 Pro max. Those pro models like this iPhone 12 Pro here are the top line iPhones. However, what are the differences between the iPhone 12 Pro and the iPhone 12 Pro max in specs and other bits and pieces? Well, there's only one way to find out, and we're going to do that by doing an iPhone 12 Pro versus an iPhone 12 Pro max comparison. So if you want to hear the latest gaming news, tech, news reviews and comparisons hit that subscribe, button, followed by the bell so last year, apple introduced us to the iPhone pro line for the first time, and we got the iPhone 11 Pro and the iPhone 11 Pro max this year. However, we have had the successor to the iPhone 11 Pro models, and that is the iPhone 12 Pro models, so we've got an iPhone 12 Pro, and we've also got an iPhone 12 Pro max now.

The designs for both these phones are very, very similar and there's also a 100 price difference in America for both of these phones. However, what features are different between both these phones? Well, that's why I am doing this video. I am doing an iPhone 12 Pro max versus an iPhone 12 Pro, and we're going to discover what those key differences are, but before we do that, this channel has just got over 80 000 subscribers. In fact, at the time we're making this video it's at 84 000 subscribers. So in celebration of this, I've decided to do a bit of a giveaway for when we get over 100 000 subscribers and one lucky subscriber will actually get their hands on this.

It is an iPhone 12 Pro in pacific blue. Now I'm going to be giving this away to unlucky, subscriber, like I said so, to find out if you are going to be that lucky subscriber make sure you've hit the subscribe button and the notification bell, but later in this video, I'm going to show you how you can possibly get your hands on this iPhone 12 Pro in pacific blue, so stay tuned. So, as mentioned, this comparison is between the iPhone 12 Pro and the iPhone 12 Pro max. Now this comparison isn't to show you which phone is on top and which phone is the best. It's more to help you choose which phone is right for you and what just feels right in your hand and also in your pocket and giving you the best specs for the best amount of money.

So, let's begin, so we're going to cover lots of different bits and pieces and lots of different features in this comparison, so I've got the iPhone 12 Pro max and the iPhone 12 Pro. The pm here stands for the pro max. So, first, let's get started with the display type, so both of these phones have an OLED display. This is a first for all iPhones to have an OLED display last year, both of the iPhone pro models had an OLED display. So there is no change this year, however, or four iPhones this year has an OLED the normal iPhone 11.

For example, last year only had an LCD retina display. So let's move on then next to the screen size now with the screen size. This is where the differences start to show. So the pro max the 12 pro max is a far bigger phone. It has got a 6.7 inch display what is 0.2 inches bigger than the iPhone 11 Pro max that came out last year, while the iPhone 12 Pro has a 6.1 inch display what is the same size as the normal iPhone 12 and the iPhone XR or 10r, and also the iPhone 11 that came out last year as well. However, like I said you are getting that LED display in this pro model for screen resolution.

This is where there are some differences, as well as the 12 pro max is slightly bigger, you're, going to get a slightly bigger amount of lines and a certain smaller amount of lines on the iPhone 12 Pro. So on the iPhone 12 Pro max, we have a resolution of 2778 by 1284 and on the iPhone 12 Pro we have a resolution of 2532 via 1170. So what does this mean? It means, then, that both of the phones have really, really sharp displays and the amount of pixels per inch or PPI is really high. In fact, both the phones are basically the same amount of pixels per inch when we've only got one or two differences in pixels print you're, just not going to see any difference whatsoever, so the iPhone 12 Pro max has 458 pixels per inch, while the iPhone 12 Pro has 460 pixels per inch, but, like I said, you're really not going to see the difference between both of these phones. Next is the refresh rate, the refresh rate on both these phones are identical.

They are at 60 hertz. Yes, there are loads, more other flagship phones out there right now. What have 120, hertz or 90 hertz or even in some cases, but iPhone this year, decides to stick with 60hz on both the iPhone 12 Pro max and also the iPhone 12 Pro for display protection? We have ceramic shield on both of the phones and ceramic shield. The screen layer, what's on top of the glass on top of the screen, is actually meant to be four times stronger than what was on the iPhone 11 Pro and the iPhone 11 Pro max that came out last year. So this is going to be super strong, and it's actually the strongest glass you can get on a smartphone at the moment.

So let's now take our interest to the insides of the phone. So, let's start with the processor, so both of the phones have an a14 bionic chipset. This is apple's latest fastest chipset. What is around about 20 faster than the a13 bionic that came out last year in the iPhone 11 models, both of the processors, like I said, are identical, so the speed will be the same and, to be honest, the same is said for the ram. Both of these phones have six gigabytes of ram inside them.

What is more than enough, and there will be no differences in tasks or things like this or opening up apps that demand a lot of power. They will both be capable of doing exactly the same for storage amounts this year. They are the same again. So basically, we've got the options of 128 gigabytes, 256, gigabytes and 512 gigabytes on both of the handsets. So it is identical and again because they're iPhones, they don't have any expansional storage, so no SD cards or anything like that for operating system.

They both run on apple iOS 14. At the time of this video that is on apple iOS 14.1, but it will both the phones will get updates for probably the next four to five years for battery size. Now this is where differences start to be seen. So the iPhone 12 Pro and the actual iPhone 12. What is actually the same size screen phone? Have a 2815 William battery inside them, whereas the iPhone 12 Pro max has a 3687 William battery that is about a quarter of the size bigger than inside an iPhone 12 Pro now.

This is a big difference, because at the end of the day, the iPhone 12 Pro has a 6.1 inch display and the iPhone 12 Pro max has a 6.7. In theory, the iPhone 12 Pro max battery life should last ever so slightly longer, it probably won't be much in it. You'd probably be able to squeeze probably about an extra hour a day out of an iPhone 12 Pro max instead of a 2850 William in an iPhone 12 Pro. However, charging will be different for both of these phones and talk about charging. Let's just quickly cover that.

So yes, both of these phones do have a wide connection of up to 20 watt charging, and they've also got that brand-new wireless MagSafe charging ability up to 15 watts. However, as the iPhone 12 Pro does have a slightly smaller battery, will cause the size battery smaller. It does mean it will charge far quicker than an iPhone 12 Pro max, because it's a smaller battery to fill up compared to the iPhone 12 Pro max battery. So it's up to you what you want to choose if you did need to have a quick top up during the day, the iPhone 12 Pro would be quicker at doing this compared to an iPhone 12 Pro max to get to the same percentage. However, the iPhone 12 Pro max will last longer throughout the day by an extra hour or so next is the weight in both of these phones, so the iPhone 12 Pro max is heavier because it is a larger phone, so it weighs in at 228 grams compared to 189 grams in the iPhone 12 Pro.

So next of all is water resistance. Now both of these phones are identical in their water resistance. They both have ip68, and they can both go up to six meters in depth of clear water up to 30 minutes on both of these phones. Now, six meters is quite a lot, so your phone will definitely survive. However, you rescuing it from six meters underwater.

Well, you might need to call an ambulance or something, but the point is they can go underwater really far, and they can survive up to 30 minutes in that kind of depth. Next are ports, so the ports on both these phones again are identical. We have the charging ports on both these phones. What are lightning and at the same time as well. There are no ports on both of these phones.

You'd have to use Bluetooth, AirPods or another supply of wireless headphones to work with these phones to listen to music and talk about music and sound, though both these phones so do have stereo speakers, and they are the identical speakers on both of the phones. They give the same output of volume on each model, so there are no differences there, and they are stereo speakers as well to give you that bit of slight surround sound of left and right. Sound. Both phones this year also feature 5g. What is a first for iPhone this year? They both have got 5g and antennas inside them, yet the iPhone 12 Pro max is rumored to have a slightly faster 5g antenna inside it compared to the iPhone 12 Pro.

However, only a couple of carriers, and only a couple of masses inside America will be providing the speed in the next couple of years. So really, if you are going to upgrade your phone in a few years time to get yourself say an iPhone 15 or 16, it's not really going to make any difference right now, with the amount of 5g availability in the world for Bluetooth. Both the phones have Bluetooth, 5.0 built in, so there are no differences here, they're exactly the same. However, moving on to the camera layout, now the cameras might look the same and both the phones do feature a 12 megapixel wide, a 12 megapixel ultra-wide, a 12, megapixel telephoto and up to 4k video as well. Recording and both phones also feature that cool new LIDAR sensor.

However, the iPhone 12 Pro max what it does with photos and videos, it does a bit more special effects inside it, not trying to say the iPhone 12 Pro cameras are rubbish or anything, but you just get ever so slightly sharper picture in low light, and you also get a slightly more cinematic approach on the iPhone 12 Pro max when you're recording in 4k compared to the iPhone 12 Pro. In fact, some of those functionalities are listed here and, to be honest, as you can see, they are almost identical. Both the phones have quad tone. Both the phones has a 2.5 optical zoom night mode, deep fusion, smart, HDR, free and also both phones can use apple pro raw. However, the iPhone 12 Pro max does have sensor shift OS inside it.

So basically, what this means is the sensor moves around. Instead of the lens for optimization, when you say running down the road and keeping it really, really stable, it does it at this point instead of doing it in the lens. Instead, what is more common in more other smartphones at the moment for the front facing camera, so the selfie cameras are identical. Again, you get 12 megapixel cameras in both of the phones, and they can record up to 4k video, and both of these phones have also been optimized for night mode as well this year. So this is what it boils down to.

It does boil down to the price, so an iPhone 12 Pro max just costs only 100 us dollars more than an iPhone 12 Pro. You get a standard, 128 gigabytes storage for this price on both these phones. So if you've got the normal iPhone 12 Pro at 999 dollars, you'd get 128 gigabytes, and if you got the iPhone 12 Pro max at the standard model of 128 gigabytes, it would cost you 1099 and again for colors. The colors are identical on both of these phones. You can get a choice of silver, graphite, gold and the new pacific blue.

What you can see here, so what iPhone 12 Pro should you buy? Well, that is up to you, as you can see here. Most of the features are shared between both of the phones and the 12. Pro max is slightly bigger and does have a slightly bigger battery and an ever so slightly better camera setup compared to the iPhone 12 Pro. However, the iPhone 12 Pro is no slouch and is a really great phone and can take some really awesome photography and do some awesome videos as well. However, one advantage you will get with the iPhone 12 Pro normal, it just feels better in your hand, compared to the bigger iPhone 12 Pro max and also at the same time as well.

If you do need to charge your phone quickly, and you want it to get up to a higher percentage faster, it can do this because it does have a slightly smaller battery compared to an iPhone 12 Pro max.
