iPhone 12 Pro Max Unboxing: Trip to Apple Store and... DONUTS! By TechOdyssey

And it's iPhone day, iPhone 12 Pro maxi phone, 12 mini, so I'm here at the mall, so I can go and get mine instead of having it shipped to my house, because ups takes forever. I decided to be proactive and come down here and pick it up. I've got a window from 8 15 to 8 30 this morning. It's like 8 17, so I got to get going. So let's go get this phone uh! You can see it's a particularly lovely day outside today kind of little on the foggy side out here in the distance, but otherwise not too shabby I'm walking into the mall now. So I can go get my phone, but I'm really excited about this because uh yeah, it's a big phone for the year, 12 pro max all the great stuff and for those of you who picked up the 12 mini then uh.

I hope you enjoy that too. So, let's go grab this phone. I was a little worried when I first walked into the mall because uh you know who goes to the mall 8 o'clock in the morning. But since the Apple Store's there, I guess they planned accordingly, and they had the door open. So that was nice, but I walked right up and got in line no problems.

I had my time slot between 8 15 and 8 30. I just showed them my confirmation email. They put me online, even though there was other people there waiting their times were behind mine, so I worked out really well. I didn't have any hiccups, no issues, and this was right before I got ready to walk out the door with my phone and time to leave the Apple Store. So I got my fancy brand new, iPhone 12 Pro max and I think, on the way out, I'm going to stop and get some cinnamon to take home to eat.

While I open this up because I'm kind of hungry it's breakfast time well, cinnamon was the best. I thought that they uh. I saw them there. You know making cannabis and stuff, so I thought they were open, but no, apparently they open until 11. So no cinnamon roll for me all right.

So I've made it out of the mall time to go out to my car uh, so I can take this new iPhone 12 Pro max home and unbox it and fire it up and get ready to uh. You know: do the unboxing like other great stuff, but really easy experience. I was surprised. I thought that was going to be a lot more crowded than it was. But since I had my time to pick it up, it really was super easy and I only had to wait in line for like five minutes, so that was nice, so good job to apple.

On setting that up since cinnamon was a gigantic bus, I decided to stop by Houston's favorite donut chain. This is Shirley's here, just in case you're curious. What the inside of the donut shop look like, but uh yeah. If you're going to come home with an iPhone, you might as well bring donuts too, and these right here are certainly delicious. So not only are you getting to enjoy the video today about the unboxing which is coming up now, but you know.

Hopefully, you have some coffee and a donut to go along with it. Okay, I made it home with my brand new iPhone 12 Pro max. It's got 128 gigabytes of baseline storage. I didn't feel the need to get the 256 or the 512, but here it is it's going to take it out of the box. Looking forward to this, I've been waiting to test out this gigantic phone for a little while now and wow.

This is a is a sharp looking phone looking at it from here. This is the pacific, blue color. So taking a look at it up close, it does look better in person, I think than some of the images I've seen online and I think that's kind of a resounding theme for a lot of these new iPhones um, except for the iPhone uh, the gold color. I really liked the gold color, and then I saw one in person, and I'm like. I don't like the way this looks, so I went ahead and went with the pacific blue instead of the gray.

Sorry, the great the gold and three cameras here on the back, which is nice, of course, it's a contrast from the iPhone 12, which only has two, and we'll look at here in a minute, because I want to put them side by side, so you can see them, and then it has this fancy new sticker. They put on the front that shows you that the power button is here volume button over here for up and down and then also the mute switch. So there we go, and here we have our beautiful new iPhone 12 Pro max flat sides. Um, it's really nice. It's got kind of the shiny finish instead of like the flat finish, that's on the regular iPhone 12.

It feels pretty good in hand. Furthermore, it doesn't. I guess I think it's a little lighter than the iPhone 11 Pro max uh, which I did have that one last year, then my wife stole it. So this one is for me at least for now yeah a week from now. If you don't see anymore iPhone content, it's because my wife stole this one too, because she's perfect at doing that lightning, charging port.

On the bottom, I like how everything is nice and flush down here? The uh architecture and the design on this phone is something that I like a lot it has this frosted finish on the back or matte finish whatever you want to call it with the Apple logo. Here it really is a nice looking phone, so I'll give them that let's go ahead and power it up. It's got the edge to edge display with the OLED and then, of course, the famous notch up at the top for the face ID cutout. So let's put that right here inside the box. Also, we have the power cable, which is an USB to lightning charging port, and then we have this tiny little thing that has the documentation, sim ejector tool and one complimentary apple sticker.

So if you want to put this on something a lot of people like to put them on like their mac books, if you have one of those, I remember a long time ago when I was in law school like everybody, took these and put them on the back of their computer. So here we go with the uh startup and everything hello. Of course, it says that and it kind of cycles through in the different languages- oh law, of course, in Spanish, but very easy to set these up whenever it comes to the new iPhones. Just select your language, select your region for your area and then go through and set it up. So I'm going to get leave that I'll.

Do that in a minute. I do want to do a side-by-side comparison just so you can kind of see what the iPhone 12 looks like next, the iPhone 12 Pro max. So this is the regular blue with the pacific blue. So you can see that there is definitely a big difference here, and it's funny, because when I was looking at this on camera, when it's by itself it kind of looks blue and then depending on the light, it looks like a little of like a gray color, but then, when you bring this one in it's such a deep and a dark blue, it makes this one over here, look a little more on the gray side and then also you can see where the camera is at there that there's a color contrast as well, but I like that. I think that it makes it stand out more so pretty cool there um.

I just wanted to give you a little look at that real quick, so you could see some of the differences we get. The iPhone 12 versus the iPhone 12 Pro max and the 6.7-inch screen is definitely a lot more screen real estate than what you get with just a regular iPhone 12. But this one right here. I still do like it a lot. I, like the form factor.

Furthermore, I like that. It's a lot lighter. This one is definitely significantly heavier, but I mean the cost is apparent because look at this gigantic screen, I mean it's: it's huge, so um yeah I'll go ahead and move along from this part of the unboxing process, so I can get it set up and ta-da. Here we are with the iPhone 12 Pro max up close and personal, so you can get a nice look at it, I'm in the middle of the setup process right now, but one of the great things about having an iPhone is being able to back it up from your iCloud. It pretty much restores everything you can set up your Apple Watch.

If you've already got that paired, you can go straight in set up your Apple Wallet, and it puts all your apps back where they're supposed to be, which is really, really nice, because I don't like having to go reset everything up, especially when you live in an iOS world, where you can't just move one icon around into the position that you wanted to. So it's kind of a pain in the rear end that, but I'm really excited about this, because I haven't had this large of a phone and an iPhone in a while, like I was using the iPhone 8 plus earlier this year. I like that one, a lot: it's a really solid phone. I like touch ID and then, like I said earlier, my wife hijacked, my 11 pro max after I got back from CES, so yeah I'm interested to test this out. Furthermore, I've got some really cool cases for it, which I'll have a review coming.

Furthermore, I've reviewed a lot of these cases over the years' nomad they make these fantastic cases made out of horsemen leather, which has been around since like early 1903's. When I think it's one of the oldest or the oldest tannery here in the United States yeah, you can check out them in the link below but really solid cases. This is not sponsored by them, they're just my favorite cases. So I'm sharing that with you guys. The pacific blue looks really nice, though, and again like I had commented earlier, depending on the light that you're in uh.

It really makes a difference on how blue this phone looks. It can look anywhere from gray with the blue tent to actually looking kind of like pacific blue three cameras on the back, so it's loaded out with a 12 megapixel primary shooter, wide angle and also the telephoto, which is super cool uh and then on the front. You've also got you guessed it a 12, megapixel camera. So it's funny to me that it just all lines up that way for the whole iPhone 12 thing, and then you've got the little spot over here on the side, which is where the antenna for the 5g is, so you can get the 5g and honestly, I think one of the biggest improvements for me with these new iPhone 12s is the fact that they went back to the Qualcomm modem, which is the best no more intel world. I have had like no complaints about the signal quality on this phone, since I got it, and I'm interested to see how the battery life is on this one, I've been using the iPhone 12 as a lot of you all, probably know since it came out on launch day, and I've been getting about six hours screen on time at the end of the day, which makes me pretty happy for an iPhone, it's not as good as the 11 series, but as long as I can squeak out six hours totally fine.

This one, of course, has a larger battery looking forward to seeing how long this one lasts. But overall it's a really, really sharp. Looking phone, it's really nice. I think it's the best looking iPhone model they've had in a long time. It really does take me back to the iPhone 5 iPhone 4 days and uh yeah, except it has all the new novel technology and additional design stuff, and I think that it's sharp it's expensive, 1099 introductory price for the 12 pro max 999 introductory price for the 12 pro.

But you do get the significant size difference with the additional screen real estate here and again yeah. I'm really looking forward to testing this out and using this to see. If I like it better because I do have some concerns. Yes, this one does have a lot better exposure for taking night shot photos. So, of course, I'm going to go out and test that out um.

It has three cameras on here instead of two, but at the end of the day you know, I wonder really just how pro is it and how well will that translate over to what I need it for versus just the regular 12, because I have to say I do like the 12 a lot. This is a heavy phone. It is much heavier than this phone. It is a lot larger this one I mean. I really enjoyed a lot, so I'm going to test this one out, see how much I like it.
