iPhone 12 Mini Vs iPhone XR! (Comparison) (Review)

Welcome back everyone time to do another comparison between the brand newly released iPhone, 12 mini and the somewhat older iPhone 10r. Now the 10r came out in 2018, so it's a little over two years old at this point, but the 12 mini is kind of like I guess, one of the cheapest iPhone 12s that came out so kind of the same thing. In the know, succession way the iPhone 12 mini costs about 729 to pick up brand new, the iPhone 10r costs, I think 4.99 brand new from apple, but you can get it for even cheaper than that in used market. So I find the cheapest ones on Amazon on both these link them down in the description below you can get them from there and help support the channel. At the same time now, side by side, you can definitely see the 12 mini is a much, much smaller phone than the iPhone 10r. In fact, I think the entirety of the iPhone 12 mini could probably fit inside the display and almost like it's a very, very, very small phone.

The 12 mini is, and rightfully so, because first, the iPhone 10r has that 6.1 inch panel on the front and as I've stated before you know, I wasn't really too fond of it in the beginning with, but as of now I mean it's pretty much growing on me. It's a very good panel, it's an IPS panel, but even then I mean compared to the OLED panel. Some people may prefer the bigger display over even an OLED panel. In my opinion, in this specific case, I feel like the 10r has a pretty good-looking panel for sure now. The iPhone 12 mini obviously has that 5.4 inch panel, which is smaller than the iPhone 10r, and I kind of like it. You know I think, crispness wise, it's probably a crisper and probably a better looking panel overall but, like I said some people may like this size.

Some people may not. I feel like with this. It's a good size for some people who, like a smaller phone. I just don't really like a smaller phone. That much, but even then I mean, I have to say, apple- did a perfect job with what they were able to fit inside this phone with the size of this display, as well as how good it looks, and definitely when you look at both I'll, probably give the edge to the iPhone 12 mini for having a better looking and higher resolution display, but the 10 hours panel I like having a bigger display.

Also, the flat side versus the curved side, does add a little of a flavor to the iPhone 12 mini. I don't know, what's the best word to describe it, but it makes it feel a little better in the hand when you hold it. So, in terms of the front, the iPhone 12 mini, probably wins in terms of the thinness and thickness, though surprisingly, I don't know if one is necessarily thinner or thick. Probably the iPhone 10 is a thicker one. It definitely feels like it, but for the 12 mini it actually doesn't feel super thin or super thick.

It's a perfect. You know middle point for how big this phone is for sure and on the back, you can see dual camera setup on the iPhone 12 mini single camera setup on the iPhone 10r. The 10r has that 12 megapixel lens 12 mini has two 12 megapixel lenses standard glass backs on both no frosted ones. Both have wireless charging, and everything like that. The iPhone 12 mini does have that MagSafe capability, IP certification, on both pretty much the same storage variants I think too, and that really pretty much covers it up in terms of the outside.

Nothing else super crazy between these two. In terms of the software, though, there is a little of a difference with the iPhone 12 mini, because it is two years newer. It should theoretically last two years longer than the iPhone 10r. So that's a pretty decent thing to you know to keep in mind, at least, but with the iPhone 10r. It's still going to be lasting for a long time like both these phones are lasting for a super long time and both these for the next couple of years as long as they're supported, are still going to be getting the same software versions for the most part.

So when this one gets an update, the iPhone 12 mini will also get the update the same day, most probably so in terms of software, that's a really easy one that pretty much covers it up. Now, let's go ahead and do a speed comparison between both these phones. Now, the iPhone 10r has that Apple A2, bionic chip inside it with three gigabytes of ram with the iPhone 12 mini, has that Apple A14 binary chip inside it with four gigabytes of ram. So let's go and see which one is the faster phone between both of these all right. Let me go and clear all the apps in the background, and I think they are already clear, except for that one and let me go and increase the brightness a little on that panel, all right, let's go and start getting into it.

Let's do phone calls three two one, and I think the 12 minute was definitely faster there. We can go and do the app stores three two one there we go, and the 12 mini was faster there. The 10r eventually gets into it. So definitely a little of a difference. There scrolling speeds wise, I mean I'll, definitely tell you the iPhone 10r and the iPhone told me are about the same, but the opening speed was definitely far faster on the iPhone 12 mini.

Now I have a bunch of these third party apps that we can go and open. So let's do fruit, ninja three two one- and it's just so funny to see how small this 12 mini is compared to the 10r, and I think the 12 mini was definitely far faster. There. We will have to confirm our stuff, but even to get into the loading panel was faster on the 12 mini as well. Let's do twitter three two one and for some reason that didn't open, but I'll go ahead and open it here to store it in the ram management.

Facebook. Three two one, as you can see the 12 menu again. What's the faster one temple run, two which I don't know. If I have, it's right here, 3 2, 1. And you can see the 12 mini- is definitely faster than the iPhone 10 or even with pretty much these basic games.

I don't want to say these are super slow games or small games by any means, but these aren't the most intensive games ever and even on that you can see a pretty big difference in terms of the gameplay. I don't know. If there's going to be a difference, I don't think there will be, but I guess we can see, but that was a pretty big difference in terms of the app opening speeds for this one too. So let's go and do the next one, which is BFA, and I don't think I have it this time. Actually, let's do Quizlet three two one and the 12 minute was faster.

iPhone 10 are shortly behind Dropbox 321 again the 12 minute was faster, iPhone 10r, a little behind it. Netflix 321 and again the 12 mini was slightly faster. The iPhone 10r was a little behind snake versus blocks 321 and the 12 minute was faster. iPhone 10 are definitely behind it getting into some gameplay. I don't think there's going to be that big of a difference, I'm being honest, but the oh there was glitching, is going on both they both kind of glitched up at the same time, which is kind of freaking me out.

Thank you three, two one. It kind of looked like I clicked here a little, so we'll give the iPhone to only like a split second leeway, and it's still open it up sooner on the iPhone so many which is pretty surprising, but I'm glad I caught that right in the camera, so gameplay-wise, it's probably gonna, be the same, but the 12 minute definitely loaded that one up faster, even with me clicking it sooner on the iPhone 10r. Let's do stack three two one and the 12 mini, I think, was the faster one. Again. The iPhone 10 are a little behind Instagram.

Three two. I don't have it paper Io two, three, two one, oh, I did have Instagram. I still with the older icon and you can see the 12-minute faster, iPhone 10 are fully behind getting some gameplay. Let's see if there are any differences, and maybe there will be- maybe there won't be- and I totally screwed this up- it's so hard to determine both, but I'll. Let you guys kind of see if there's a difference in terms of the gameplay, I don't really think there will be really racing three two one and the 12 minute was the faster one there.

The iPhone 10r is probably going to take a couple more seconds to load up, which is no problem, and it's definitely taken quite a bit of time. It may be stuck on the downloading panel. That could be very well a possibility, and we do get into it. So definitely you can see how much faster the iPhone 12 mini was for these bigger type of apps and what I can tell you are for sure. In my opinion, the iPhone 12 mini is the faster phone.

For sure, I mean it's just a given: it's a newer phone, it has a newer processor and everything, and I'm actually really happy about it. It was beating the iPhone 10r, I think, in every single app, which is huge when you buy a phone, you want to make sure it's. You know as fast as possible and especially when it has a chipset like this, and the 10r doesn't have as much ram as a 12-minute. So in that specific app, the iPhone 12 mini was able to keep it up, but I have seen that the ram measurement on the 12 mini hasn't been as good as I was expecting, if I'm being completely honest, so I'll kind of keep testing it to see. What's going on.

I don't know if it's going to get better, but I guess we'll kind of see what goes on. Both of them are still doing pretty decent here, and you can see kind of continuing on they're, both kind of doing the same thing too. So, in turn, oh actually, the channel restarted that so, in terms of that, that pretty much covers up the speed comparison, that's going to hit on the cameras, as you can see, the iPhone 10r has a single camera set up. The iPhone 12 mini has a dual camera setup: 12 megapixel wide 12 megapixel ultra-wide. The iPhone 10 has a single 12, megapixel wide angle lens, and my furnace just turned on.

So there may be a little of noise in the background, but it's totally okay, as you can see with my iPhone 10r it the quality. Wasn't that bad. I feel like the biggest problem with the iPhone 10r at that time, and even now is the single camera setup when you have a phone quality such as like the iPhone x max at this time, or even like an iPhone 12 mini that has more than one camera sensor, that's definitely going to future-proof the iPhone 12 many more than something like an iPhone 10r. So that's definitely something to keep in mind. However, the single lens that it has is actually pretty decent.

I don't even think this is that bad, the biggest problem, though in my opinion, besides, that back camera too, would be that front facing camera. It's only 1080p at 60 frames. You cannot do 4k 60 on the front camera, which is a pretty big problem. In my opinion, is it a dealbreaker? It may be for some people, but I think for me specifically, it may be. I use my front camera more than I use my back camera.

So that's another problem with this specific phone with the iPhone 12 mini. On the other hand, with that ultrawide sensor on the back, it really does, like I said before, adds more flavor to the device, which is something I really do like. You have the ability of shooting 4k 60 on the front of the iPhone 12 mini as well, which is another big asset for this phone. I mean when you're walking around you're, making a bunch of snap chats or doing a lot of FaceTime calls you're going to prefer having a higher resolution front facing camera than a back camera. In my opinion, it just so happens that the iPhone 12 mini is better at both, which is a huge asset for it.

So for sure, when it comes down to the 12 mini, probably ones in the camera department and as always I'll, do a full separate battery comparison too, but between the both I mean I'll, definitely tell you. I think the 10r may actually have the better battery life when it comes down to this. You know it being a bigger battery and everything, but I have tested before that. Io's 14 has taken a huge toll on pretty much all these batteries throughout the whole entire lifecycle of both these phones, which really does sucks. So I guess we'll see what happens, but I'll probably tell you.

The 10r is going to have the better battery life, but the iPhone 12 mini is probably still going to be pretty good for the majority of people who are going to be using it too. I think, but because it has a smaller battery, I'm just going to have to test whether which one has the bigger one, because iOS 14 is more optimized for the 12 mini. So I guess we'll see what happens in the future, but in terms of battery that pretty much covers it up and to kind of sum up the whole entire video and say answer the question: should you pick up the iPhone 10, or should you pick up the iPhone 12 mini? What I can tell you is that with the iPhone 10r, there are still a lot of assets for this specific device. You have a bigger panel which really does look. You know it looks pretty good.

If, I'm being honest, you have pretty small bezels for a 499 phone. You have a notch up top, which you know is the same exact thing with the 12 mini. You have a perfect performance. For the most part, it's super smooth it's stock iOS, so you don't have a bunch of things going on in the background, like some android versions, and it's a perfect performing phone, I mean I haven't, really had too many issues with it as long as you're, not comparing it side by side with other phones, you're, probably not going to care too much. If I'm being honest, the camera is pretty decent and there's really not that much to complain about for the price tag of this phone.

But when you look at something like the iPhone 12 mini. On the other hand, it's probably going to be the better phone to pick up for a majority of people, because it's the newer phone. It has more capability and everything. But for the price tag I mean it's definitely not a cheap phone 729, an iPhone 11 costs 5.99 it's cheaper than this phone. It doesn't make any sense, but you're getting that size factor.

Some people may actually prefer the smaller size. So you're just going to have to ask yourself: do you like a phone? That's like way smaller. Do you like a phone? That's way bigger and that's really, I think, the biggest differentiating factor between these two do you need a smaller size phone or do you need a bigger sized phone? If you need a bigger size phone, then maybe the iPhone 11 is better, but the 10r is still a perfect value per dollar as well, and there's not that much to hate on it. It's a very safe phone. Of course.

The cameras are better on the 12 minute, the software, the performance everything like that is pretty much better on the 12 mini, but price per dollar standpoint, like I said before, that 10r is still a perfect, valued phone. In my opinion, it has a lot of capability behind it. It's just like that. One there's just not that much to complain about, like I said as long as you're, not comparing both phones side by side, you're, not going to find that many problems, but definitely the 12-minute may be the better phone overall, but the 10r still has a lot of characteristics to the bigger batteries. Some people may prefer and those things that you can't really get with a software update or anything, so that really pretty much covers that for the most part, if you guys have any other questions or anything, let me know in the comment section below hit the like button, tell me so much, but definitely hit that subscribe button, every single subscriber that we get really discount.
