iPhone 12 mini - The Best iPhone You'll Never Buy By JSL Review

Okay, let's talk about the iPhone 12 mini, so the iPhone 12 mini is probably one of the most polarizing iPhones apple has ever made, and a few weeks ago I put up this poll on my YouTube community tab, basically asking anybody who saw it if they would ever personally buy the iPhone 12 mini it got over 4 000 votes and 56 percent of them said that they would never buy apple's newest device, and I think those results represent the broader consumer market, as numerous publications have confirmed that the iPhone 12 mini sales have been significantly lower than the other models that it launched with, and my first impression to that is man. I get it. I've said this before and to be completely honest, I probably wouldn't have pulled the trigger on the iPhone 12 mini either. If I wasn't in the tech review space, but after picking up an iPhone, 12 mini to review and using it for three months, I continued to be surprised at how much I love this phone. So today I want to talk about the main reasons why most people will never buy this phone, even though it's probably one of the best iPhones ever made now before we jump into the review in case you're new here, I'm Jason. Okay, first and probably the main reason why most people are going to take a pass on this phone is the size while virtually all phones have evolved to get bigger and bigger. The iPhone 12 mini is a stark deviation from what most of us have grown accustomed to, and yes, there's been this resurgence of a more right-sized form factor, something embraced by the iPhone 12, the galaxy s21 and the pixel 5, but when compared to the 12 mini those phones would be considered huge. I mean we have to be fair and categorize. This phone's design, as it truly is tiny and because many of us have transitioned to using our phones as our primary means of content consumption, there's a legitimate concern that such a small device could lead to a less than ideal user experience.

But here's the thing the display in the iPhone 12 mini yes, dimensionally, it's very small, but it has that edge to edge design like the other iPhones, and it's immersive enough to where you get used to it. Real, quick, nothing feels noticeably small or encumbered by the smaller form. Factor typing on the keyboard is fine and even more size. Specific things like watching videos and playing games is still very enjoyable on the 12 mini see. This is the main difference for me between this phone and the second generation iPhone SE.

Even though that phone is physically larger, it has the awful forehead engine which, ultimately to me does get in the way of enjoyability, plus the display on the iPhone 12 mini is super high quality. It's an OLED panel that has a tiny, uniform bezel all the way around, and it provides a premium viewing experience, and this is the area in which you're really not going to be able to appreciate it until you actually get the phone in your hands but navigating around iOS with an iPhone this small man, it's refreshing. This is by far the most comfortable iPhone. You can use with one hand and the one that's gonna, give you the least drop anxiety and I legit feel like I could get stuff done a lot faster with this phone as it is so easy to operate. So in many ways the iPhone 12 mini kind of gives you the best of both worlds, a form factor that makes this an ultra easy device to use and a display, that's large enough to keep you pleasantly engaged with whatever it is you're doing now.

I get it no matter how much I try and convince you of this there's a lot of you that just aren't going to be able to budge as the tininess of this phone man it's just impossible to ignore, but if you're brave enough to give this phone a shot, I'm fairly confident you'd agree with me. Okay, the next reason why most people are gonna just say no to the iPhone 12 mini is perceived performance issues. It's easy to make the assumption that a small form factor also equates to concessions and say features or other components that make up a smartphone and again is supported by phones like the iPhone SE. It's using very outdated, recycled components, and it can't take advantage of a lot of the newest features. Apple has in its arsenal, but really that could be further from the truth when talking about the iPhone 12 mini, there's virtually nothing about this phone that fits that stereotype.

In fact, it's one of the most speed out powerful phones in the market today, and the main reason for that is because it's equipped with apple's latest chipset the beastly a14 bionic processor, which allows this tiny phone to punch way higher than its weight class. You're, of course, going to get the buttery smooth user experience when navigating around the UI and even the most spec intensive games, don't even come close to phasing it and probably the most important area of performance that the iPhone 12 mini gives you access to. Are the iPhone's cameras, the iPhone 12 camera suite is arguably considered the best in the market right now and the images you're able to take with this phone are incredible. You get a primary wide angle and an ultrawide which is great and there's really no difference whatsoever between the 12 mini and the other iPhone 12 variants and more impressively. The same applies to the 12 mini's video shooting capability.

Despite this phone being smaller than most candy bars, it can shoot 4k, video in Dolby Vision, HDR and the footage is so good that it'll seriously blow your mind that a device this small is producing video at this caliber. The cameras on the 12 mini are probably its best-selling point apple didn't take anything away here, and I swear whatever limitations. You thought this phone would have been pretty much eliminated once you start seeing what these cameras can do. Now there is one area of performance where no lie. There are some limitations and that's battery life.

There's no getting around this one as there's going to be logically, a smaller battery in the smaller form factor, which ultimately means it will have the worst battery life compared to its larger siblings. Now I've been averaging around 6 hours of screen on time, which honestly isn't too bad and totally fine for light to moderate users. But if you play a lot of games, watch a ton of HD videos or if you're, a content creator or something taking a ton of videos yourself, power management may be an issue for you. There's really! No getting around it, and that brings me to the last reason why most people are going to say no thanks to this phone and that's the price at 699 us. It's actually pretty reasonable for all you're getting with this phone, but here's the main issue.

You can get the regular size base model, iPhone 12 for just 100 bucks more and with that being a relatively small price to pay. Anyone that had even the slightest reservation about this phone now have an easy out that, let's face it, a lot of us are going to take at the end of the day. The regular iPhone 12 is the safer bet, and it's easy to convince yourself that it's the better phone and look I'm not even going to contest that it's not. But hopefully this video helped inform you to make your own determination for the right reasons. There's a lot on the surface of the iPhone 12 mini.

That makes it easy to mischaracterize and dismiss, but don't be quick to pass the 12 mini off as a subpar phone, because for those who actually pulled the trigger and got it they'd love it, and I can totally understand why.
