iPhone 11 & iPhone 11 Pro Max Hands-On & First Impressions

This video is sponsored by set app. These are the new iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro, Macs, Apple's latest flagship phones for 2019 and the successors to the iPhone 10 are and 10s max I. Think at this point we pretty much know what comes inside an iPhone box, but Apple did make a few changes that you might not know. Those changes come inside the iPhone 11 Pro and pro max variants, and that's the inclusion of the new 18 watt charger instead of the infamous 5 watt charger that Apple has been including inside the box for forever. Unfortunately, iPhone 11 owners will still have to deal with the 5 watt charger, at least for another year other than the new 18 watt USB charger Apple included a USB, C, 2, lightning, cable, as well as the usual ear pods, and some paperwork and stickers. The iPhone 11 comes in a few different colors, some of them being new, like this purple, color that we have here as well as a new green, yellow, black white and product red.

The pro models get one new color, this midnight green color- that we also chose to go with, and then you'll have your more traditional space, gray gold and silver options. Now going back to the purple, the purple is kind of subtle, it's more like a lavender than a vibrant purple that you might be expecting, but I do really like it. It's not as subtle as something like the pixels purple option, but it's still pretty subtle. As far as the midnight green color goes, it definitely has to hit the right lighting in order to differentiate itself from being something like a Space Gray I'm, not sure why Apple keeps restricting us from having fun color options in the more expensive models, but at least we got something new. The 2019 iPhones look nearly identical to their predecessors on the front, but the story changes when you flip them over this year, Apple included a dual camera system for the iPhone 11 and a triple camera system for the iPhone 11 Pro and Pro Macs.

The pro models also get this matte like finish to the back glass, which gives them a frosted look and a really cool feeling in the hands. But it's interesting that the camera hump itself has a glossy finish. The iPhone 11 models have the traditional glass back with that glossy. Look that we know, but the camera bump has the matte glass that you would find on the iPhone 11 Pro. These iPhones are also heavier than last year's and it's really noticeable with the pro max and the reason is kind of obvious, and it's also highly welcomed.

Apple stuck larger batteries inside the new iPhones. Hence, the extra bulk, the iPhone 11 is said to offer one more hour of battery compared to the 10r, which was already doing a great job in battery and the iPhone 11 Pro can last for hours longer than the iPhone 10 S, which was kind of met in the pro max, which was okay at battery life is said to have an extra 5 hours of battery compared to last year's 10 s max alright enough about the look and feel of these new iPhones. And let's just talk about what's new with the 2019 versions, and we'll start with the glaringly obvious: the cameras, the newest lens, that you'll find on the iPhone, 11 and 11 Pro is the ultra wide-angle lens and will do a more in depth. Camera video, as well as some comparisons to other phones in the near future, but for now here's a photo of the difference compared to the standard wide-angle lens. That's also found on these phones.

The 11pro also includes a telephoto lens, which we saw on the dual camera system from last year's model and Apple also added a new night sight mode to compete with Google and Samsung's night modes and will offer users a much better camera performance in low-light conditions, as I mentioned before, we will have a full camera test soon, but so far it looks like the early reviews on the new iPhone cameras have been nothing but positive. I did manage to sneak in a picture of my gear closet here at the studio, with minimal background light and took some pictures with the 10s Max and the 11pro Max and, as you can see here, the difference is pretty significant. I even closed the door of the closet, which leaves the room nearly pitch-black and again, the 11pro gives you some sort of recognizable image compared to last year's 10 s max, which is almost completely black. The front of the new iPhones look the same from a design standpoint, but you will notice a slight upgrade and display quality on the pro models. Apple calls this new display the super Retina DR display, and it's capable of 1200 nits of peak brightness when viewing HDR photos and videos and instead of 3d touch Apple dish.

This feature for the haptic touch that was found in last year's iPhone 10 are now it's not a crazy difference as far as display quality goes, but you'll definitely notice a slight improvement. The iPhone 11 has the liquid Retina display that we saw from last year slightly thicker bezels around the device and a resolution of only 1792 by 828, as opposed to the 26 88 by 1242, display that you can find on the 11pro max just like last year's iPhone 10 are the display is honestly fine for most people, and it's really not bad looking, especially if you're not looking at the pro and the 11 at the same time. Otherwise, you're going to notice quite a difference, but if you're just using the 11, normally it's its a good display, you're, not gonna notice or have any problems face. I'd is also said to be about 30% faster than last year's and there's really no scientific way for me to measure this exactly, but it does in fact feel a little faster. Apple also expanded.

The angle in which face ID can recognize your face, or at least they said they did. I was super excited about this feature, but when I first tested it out with my phone laying nearly flat because I was under the impression that it would work this way, it did not. So kind of a bummer I still needed to lean my head over pretty much the exact same distance I would, with my 10s, max, even holding the phone flat in my hand and then tilting it towards my face. It seemed to have unlocked the phone nearly at the exact same angle as the 10s max I, honestly. Do not notice a difference in angle between these phones.

It's definitely a bummer one. Quick side note about the front facing cameras, Apple added slow-motion video recording to these cameras, allowing users to take what the company calls slow fees. This will most likely be my first and last slow fee ever so enjoy that probably would have been cooler if I had long hair the rest of the phones changes come on the inside and from software. The most notable Hardware difference is the new, a 13 Bionic chip and the graphic improvements that Apple made for this year's iPhone. The phone feels just as snappy and as fast as last year.

So it's really hard for me to tell you about how much better the performance is right now, especially right out of the box with the clean iPhone. But performance is something that I'm never really worried about when it comes to buying a high-end, Apple device. Anyways software wise these phones, ship with the latest version of iOS 13, which actually just dropped yesterday, and we released a ton of content over the last couple of months as well as a couple of new videos on tips and tricks that you should know or features that you should know about. So far with so many great features added to the Photos app maps and, of course, the system-wide dark mode, so yeah the 2019 iPhones.
