Galaxy Z Fold3 5G and S Pen go together like fish and water. It’s like nothing you’ve seen before. It’s the best smartphone to enjoy work and life. Hi. I’m ByeongSeok Choi, from the Product Planning Group for foldable products at Samsung Electronics. I’m responsible for making final decisions on the product’s basic performance and hardware specifications.

According to a consumer survey, the number one reason for purchasing and using the Galaxy Z Fold2 5G was the large screen. We focused on creating a large screen that offers an even more immersive user experience. When you open Galaxy Z Fold3 5G, the Main Screen’s camera hole is barely visible, which allows users to enjoy much more immersive multimedia experience. See this video of waves swaying back and forth? You can enjoy this in an immersive, large screen without any distraction from the camera hole. The large screen also enables increased productivity for our consumers.

To further improve the productivity experience, while addressing our fans’ number one request, we added S Pen support. S Pen is the finishing touch to the Galaxy Z Fold3 5G. A whole new notetaking experience awaits! Hi. I am responsible for Galaxy Z Fold3 5G product planning and I have managed S Pen and the device experience. I work for the UX Design Group, and in charge of the UX of the S Pen.

Many consumers requested for the S Pen functionality since the first introduction of the Galaxy Z series. We believe that users wanted S Pen support because of the convenience they can experience when using S Pen on a large screen. There are a lot of apps optimized for the large screen’s productivity, and using the S Pen is very useful in such scenarios. We found using only fingers to control a large screen like the Galaxy Z Fold3 5G’s would limit its versatility. We focused on how the S Pen can be used with foldable devices.

Since Galaxy Z Fold3 5G comes with an extra-large screen, we decided to release 2 types of S Pen that can help users stay productive. The S Pen Fold Edition is a model that supports the basic features of S Pen like handwriting and air commands. It can be attached to the cover. The S Pen Pro is a model powered by a battery inside. It supports BLE(Bluetooth Low Energy) and the Air Action features.

When you watch YouTube in Flex mode, the video is played at the top. If you double-tap the bottom screen with the S Pen’s button pressed, Samsung Notes will appear where you can take notes of cooking recipes, etc. Also, video calls have become part of daily life. You can also make good use of this feature by taking call notes during video conference calls or meetings. When using the browser app, users had to type in the search or address box with a keyboard even if they have S Pen.

With the new S Pen to text feature, which converts writing input of S Pen into text, users can now write directly in the search or address box. They can enjoy doing everything with just S Pen. Those who are studying foreign languages, like Japanese or Chinese whose characters are difficult to find and write, can make their writing and searching experience easier with S Pen to text. Sometimes you need to edit while you are writing, such as correcting a typo. You can reattach parts where spacing is incorrect or delete typos by striking them out.

If you need to add a space, you can edit by making a V-shaped gesture where the correction is needed. Galaxy Z Fold3 5G has a two-page note function since the device has two screens. Users can put the calendar on the left and take notes of their plans on the right – making better use of their notes by using both pages at the same time. You can use a variety of templates such as calendars, journals, and travel logs. The S Pen Pro was designed as an S Pen that could be used for general use, for all Galaxy devices.

If a user tries to use an air action feature on a Galaxy Tab through S Pen that is connected to the Galaxy Z Fold3 5G, it won’t work because it is already paired with Galaxy Z Fold3 5G. If the user’s Samsung account is already connected, a pop-up window will appear for them to connect to all the nearby devices. A simple click enables pairing with the desired devices. As for S Pen Fold Edition, we reduced the risk of loss by making a special case for S Pen. S Pen Pro supports BLE.

We applied ‘Find my S Pen’ feature so that it can be found through SmartThings. This feature helps you find the S Pen Pro wherever it is, minimizing the risk of losing the S Pen even when it’s stored externally. PDF and other documents files are frequently used these days. Users can pull up these files on Samsung Notes, and write down simple feedback with their S Pen Fold Edition. It would be extremely useful.

As a designer of the S Pen, I am a fan of writing and capturing notes. There’s a special feeling when opening a book or notebook, a tingle of excitement thinking about what will fill in the blank pages. Unfolding the Galaxy Z Fold3 5G gives me exactly that feeling. Users open the Galaxy Z Fold3 5G and think of what to record on the screen: a memo or a creation of their own. The S Pen in their hands perfects this moment and environment.

The Main Screen is now 29 percent brighter than Galaxy Z Fold2 5G. This time, we added a 120Hz display on the Cover Screen so users can enjoy a smoother screen experience regardless of how the device is being used. With stereo speakers, users can hear more realistic sound when watching multimedia content. And by equipping it with a powerful AP(Application processor), we made sure that users can have a smooth, seamless gaming experience. Galaxy Z Fold3 5G is an innovative phone that sets a new standard in the smartphone market.
