Hey there Saki here from Saki tech in today's video, we will do a full comparison between the iPad Pro 12 point 9 inches, which was released in November 2015 and its smaller brother iPad Pro 9 point seven inches released in March 2016. The pro series is the newest iPad lineup from Apple a set of two powerful tablets that promise you desktop class performance. Inevitably, people will wonder which one to choose, as usual questions arise. What do you miss if you go with the iPad Pro 9 point, seven inches, or what do you miss if you go with the larger twelve point? Nine inches iPad Pro is one better than the other. So in this video we will do a full, in-depth comparison and offer you a definitive answer and a conclusion on what to do so. Let's dive in and start off by talking about the build quality and design both the iPad pros are crafted from metal encased in a beautifully formed, aluminum unibody, it's the same story.
You get the brushed aluminum body on the rear, beveled edges, a high quality slab of glass on the front and the famous home button with touch ID sensor. Now, when you hold these products in your hands, they feel like a million dollars and that beautiful, sleek and polished metal feels fantastic when you hold it, but I do warn you. It is also prone to glide out of your hands onto the floor. If you're, not careful, you will probably need to buy a case or some sort of protective skin. Both of these tablets come with four total speakers, two on top and two on the bottom.
They produce rich, loud and vibrant, sound, which is perfect for videos, music and gaming and all sorts of media consumption. Now, on the left side of each iPad Pro, you get a smart connector that will allow you to connect a smart keyboard. The smart connector transfers, both data and power between the iPad Pro and the smart Keyboard, so no charging or batteries or pairing is required. You just attach the smart keyboard, and you're ready to type. This is truly a convenient way to attach a keyboard to your iPad without having to worry about charging a keyboard, worrying about battery life or pairing a keyboard to the iPad.
So far we have two identical devices with only one difference the size. Let's take a look at the dimensions really quickly. The pro 9.7 measures, 240 millimeters in height. It is one hundred sixty-nine point: five millimeters wide and 6.1 millimeters thick. It only weighs 437 grams, the pro 12 point: nine inches measures, 305 point 7, millimeters in height, 220, point six millimeters wide and six point nine millimeters thick, and it weighs 723 grams.
So, let's move on to the display. The larger iPad Pro has a twelve point. Nine inch display- and it has a resolution of 2732 by 2048, which brings the pixel density to 264 pixels per inch --is, the smaller iPad Pro has a nine point. Seven inch display with the resolution of 2048 by 1536, which brings the pixels per inch, is to 264 identical to that of the twelve point. Nine-inch iPad Pro now both of these pros use IPS LCD as their display technology.
Now the same PPI means you get the same amount of sharpness and crispness expect the two displays to be very similar. However, the smaller iPad Pro has some new technologies, such as true tone, which automatically adjusts the white balance of the screen based on ambient lightening, which results in less stress on the ice. Now I wouldn't put too much emphasis on the quality of the screen, but I would put high emphasis on the screen size. Obviously, with the larger screen, you get more screen real estate to work on your iPad. It's not going to be as portable as the smaller pro, but some people simply love larger screens for work.
It's easier to draw to design, to inspect, to multitask on a large screen for play, it's more immersive to watch movies and play games, but there's a certain loss of portability with that larger form factor so make sure you guys put a high emphasis on the actual size of the iPad, including the screen size when you're making a decision for now. Let's move on to the processor, the iPad Pro 9.7 comes with the 64-bit Apple A9 X chip, which is a dual-core processor, clocked at 2.16 gigahertz with 2 gigabytes of RAM, while the iPad Pro 12.9 comes with the same 64-bit, a 9x chip clocked slightly faster at 2.26 G Hertz, with 4 gigabytes of RAM, which is double the iPad Pro 9.7. As for graphics, you get the power VR series 7, it is a 12 core GPU, so you get the same GPU unit on either iPad. Let's run a Geek bench benchmarking test to see how much faster the iPad Pro 12 point.9 inches is than the nine point. Seven.
Due to that higher clock. Speed Geek bench is a processor and memory benchmarking tool that uses real-world scenarios to stress test devices to their absolute maximum. So we'll get a good idea of the difference in power. So, as you can see, the test is running right now, let's fast-forward to the results, so both these iPad Pro's are lightning fast, but as you can see, that higher clock, speed and double the memory does give the iPad Pro 12 point nine inches slight advantage over the smaller iPad Pro or as a let's move on to the Apple Pencil. One of the highlights of the pro lineup, the Apple Pencil when used to write, draw or sketch is extremely accurate.
It really does offer pixel perfect precision like Apple claims, and it does it with no lag so the moment the tip of your pencil touches. The screen is the moment it starts to write. Apple Pencil is a fantastic accessory for those of you who are interested in the iPad Pro as a device to take notes, draw sketch and create. Not only do you get a close to natural sense of writing and drawing, but you can digitally enhance you to work to make it even better all in one place and remember. Both the iPad pros have a built-in palm rejection technology, which means you can use the Apple Pencil while your Pug is actually resting on the display without affecting anything, and it does work flawlessly.
So you get the same experience except once again with the larger iPad Pro you get a larger canvas to work with and let's quickly touch on the software. Both tablets run the latest version of iOS and largely offer the same exact experience. iPads are all about fast and smooth operation, ease of use, a venue for quality apps to get things done or to enjoy some great looking games, no matter which iPad Pro you get. You get access to all the same apps, and you're looking at a similar experience. So, let's move on to the camera.
Now the camera portion of this comparison is quite interesting. With the iPad Pro 12 point: 9 inches, you get a mediocre 8 megapixel rear facing camera with an aperture of f28, certainly not designed to take great shots, but it is just there as a tool for an occasional shot. You can record video in 1080p at only 30 frames per second. You can also record under 20 frames per sec, slow motion, video at 720p. Those are some really poor specifications by today's standards.
Now the iPad Pro 9 point, seven inches in a quite interesting turn of events, happens to have a fantastic 12 megapixel camera with an aperture of f-22. Not only does it have an advanced image processor for crisp, clear shots, it also allows you to record in 4k at 30 frames per second 1080p at 60 or 30 frames per second, and you can record 240 frames per second slow-motion videos at 720p. Finally, the iPad Pro offers what's called cinematic video stabilization, which delivers smooth and stable video. Without the usual stutter. You would get due to shaky hands.
This camera is almost as good as the iPhone 6s camera, so those are some really impressive features for a camera on a tablet. Now, I, don't really use cameras on a tablet too often, and a better camera won't sway me too much, but it's nice to have the luxury of a good camera on a tablet for once, just in case one has to do some high-level photo or video work. However, I wouldn't put too much emphasis on this category when making a decision, unless this is something you specifically need. So, let's move on. So let's talk about the fingerprint sensors, which is called touch ID, so touch to unlock fingerprint sensors work flawlessly.99.9 percent of the time with lightning-fast responsiveness, there's nothing to complain here. They both work great and you can use them to unlock your iPad sign into apps and make purchases in many places and they both work equally.
Well, let's move on to the power and battery. There really isn't much to say here: Apple advertises the exact same battery life for both the iPad pros, which is up to 10 hours of surfing the web on Wi-Fi, watching video or listening to music. A healthy mixture of all these three activities will last you 10 hours on average. I can certainly vouch that those numbers are in fact accurate. So, let's move on to the price and color options, so the smaller iPad Pro has a starting price of $599 for 32 gigabytes of storage.
You can also go for 128, gigabytes of storage for $749 or 256 gigabytes of storage. For $899, the larger iPad Pro has a starting price of seven hundred ninety-nine dollars for 32 gigabytes of storage. Again, you can also go for 128 for nine hundred $49 or 256 for $1,099. Both iPads are available in silver, gold or Space Gray. However, the iPad Pro 9.7 inch also comes in rose gold color. One word of caution is that the iPads do not come with storage expansion options.
So if you buy a 32 gigabyte iPad, you will be stuck with that capacity for the life of your ownership, so make sure you get the right amount of storage from the get-go. Let's end the video with a conclusion. Now, if you have been following the video carefully, you must have realized that there is only one major difference between the iPad Pro 12.9 and the iPad Pro 9.7 the size which has a two-fold effect, Portability and screen real estate, so that should be the primary deciding factor when you're making a decision. However, it should be also noted that there are three other things to consider number one: the fact that the iPad Pro 9.7 inch has a much better camera that can allow for some pro work. Remember this camera is almost as good as the one on the iPhone 6s, which is a world-class camera number two, the fact that the iPad Pro 12 point 9 inches has a faster processor and double the amount of RAM for super heavy-duty tasks and finally, number three: the fact that the iPad Pro twelve point nine inches is $200 more expensive on the base model.
So, as usual, I cannot tell you exactly what you should do, but those are the things you should consider and balance carefully when making a decision between the larger or the smaller iPad Pro, but you should always give size the highest priority.
