iPad Pro 2021 11" vs 12.9" | Things to consider before you buy (side by side comparison) | HDR test

In front of me, I have an 11 inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pro in this video, we're going to do a quick side by side comparison and have a look at some things you might need to know before you choose if you're new here, please do consider subscribing to my channel and for my returning viewers. Thank you. Your support is always appreciated. So, first, let's take a look at the physical unit itself. Both of them come with four speakers around the iPad Pro three microphones at the top one microphone on the side: cameras at the back that we all know from the iPhone a magnetic connector, a NATO sim tray. If you have the cellular version and the thunderbolt USB 4 connection, one of the key drivers for your decision will be your budget.

The 11 inch Wi-Fi model comes in at 799 dollars in the US and 749 pounds in the UK and for the 12.9 inch model. It comes in at 1099 in the US and 999 in the UK. As I mentioned earlier, the iPad Pro comes in two different sizes: 11 inch and 12.9 inch with the bigger unit size being slightly heavier. The weight of that is 216 grams additionally, which is just over half a pound, heavier essentially under the hood. Everything is the same and by under the hood I mean the screen.

However, the big key differences this year is the screen itself. So what are you getting extra for your money? Well, that is the liquid Dr display. So what does that mean? I hear you asking well. The 11-inch iPad has an average brightness of 600 nits, whereas the 12.9 inch has an average of a thousand nits. So already you have a brighter screen now, you're, probably thinking these are just numbers.

So I'll tell you what? Let's have a quick look at the differences that I have set up with these two iPads and have a look at what the brightness difference is with the HDR content. I really hope this does come through on the camera. Also, just one more note, the HDR brightness will peak out at 1600 nits on the iPad Pro 12.9 inch. So you can see by just the numbers the advantage over the iPad Pro 11. Do I have to say that display is really impressive? I don't think any camera can really just do this justice.

If you can, I would suggest you head down to your local Apple Store or somewhere, where you can see these iPads side by side and have a look at the screen itself. A couple of other things to note: if you decide to buy the one terabyte or two terabyte versions of these iPads, they come with 16 gigs of ram instead of eight, but also do remember with apple. We know what their pricing can be like, so the models can be a bit pricey in terms of the upgrade. The prices are up on. Your screen now just make sure you're sitting down, and some of these prices are very eye-watering numbers.

The other thing is, if you purchase the magic keyboard like I have in front of me here, you will get a full-size keyboard with the 12.9 inch model, whereas with the 11 inch, the keyboard is slightly smaller in terms of the power and battery apple claims. Both the iPad pros can last up to 10 hours of surfing the web or watching movies and that's nine hours on the Wi-Fi plus cellular model. So if you're hoping for a better battery life on the bigger size model, it seems this has probably been taken up by the display. Just one final thing, I want to leave you with just in case you're still deciding between the two. I want you to ask yourself some of these questions.

If the budget is no option for you, what would be your primary usage for this device? Are you going to be just using it to browse the web and watch movies, or are you going to be looking? Are you going to be looking at editing, videos and photos, perhaps even some drawings using the Apple Pencil then perhaps maybe the bigger screen is for you. Are you looking at a laptop replacement, then have a think about what you do on your laptop currently and see if you're able to do this on the iPad, are you going to be traveling with this? Do you need something a little more portable and light? Do you need internet on the go whether you need the cellular model? Are you going to be working with HDR content? If so, maybe you want to use the bigger screen to maximize the capability of it? My final thoughts, if you're someone who just wants to watch movies and browse the web and occasionally dabble in a little of photo and video editing, I would say perhaps the 11-inch model is for you or even maybe you might want to look at an iPad or an iPad Air if you're doing less. If you want to maximize the amazing screen, then perhaps the 12.9 inch is for you. If you have found this video useful, give me a thumbs up and leave me a comment below.
