iPad (Early 2017) Review

I run Aaron here for Solo Tech, and this is the 2017 iPad. This is Apple's latest iPad. It's newer than any of the pros at this particular point: it's not as nice as the pros, but it's nicely priced. It comes in at 3:29 for a 32 gigabyte, Wi-Fi model you bump that up another hundred dollars for 128 gigabytes of storage and then, if you'd like to add cellular connectivity to it, you bump it up another 130, and it maxes out with 128 gigs of storage at five hundred and fifty-nine dollars. That's pretty good! Considering that the last generation nine point, seven-inch iPad was $4.99 to start. This is fifty-nine more dollars has more storage and does have a few downfalls as well.

But let's take a look at the design. It's typical design. It's got that nine point seven inch display, like I, said it has a forward facing 1.2 megapixel camera, which is really only good for FaceTime and some goofy things you do have touch ID on this side. You don't have anything at all on the top. Here we get to keep the headphone jack, which is really nice and great for the Apple that I'm grateful to Apple that they did, that we've got a power, sleep/wake button and a microphone on this side.

We have our volume buttons and, if you're familiar with the iPad Air, this actually had a switch here before they removed it for this, just like they did on the air 2, and we just have volume up and down on the bottom. We've got two speakers, and we have our lightning port and that's it. On the back. We have a simple 8, megapixel camera. It only goes up to 1080p for video recording, 120 frames per second slo-mo, but if you want to use it, it's nice- and it has an F 2.4 aperture, now touch ID on this model is pretty decent. It works fast, but I'm, not so sure that it's the fastest touch ID.

Sometimes it's really quick. Sometimes it's not and in fact, I had some issues with it and had to actually return this device and get a new one, because it would lock up and freeze and in my unboxing video it froze completely, and I had to actually reboot it hard reboot. It and I mention that as well, then touch ID one day decided to stop working, so I'm, not sure that that was just that device. Maybe a quality issue, I'm, not sure, but so far this one has been solid. Now, with this, one Apple has gone to a new naming scheme and I think they're going for iPad iPad Pro similar to MacBook Pro, because there's not a lot more to do with the tablet other than software.

At this point, so maybe we're looking at a yearly revision of hardware internally, and they're, going to keep the form factors, but with the lower price, they've compromised a little to keep that price low. Now, with the cheaper price, we get a few disadvantages. One of those things is, we have more reflectivity, they haven't put a reflective coating on here, and they've also had a non laminated display. That means that this glass here is not glued to the LCD underneath I'm, not sure if you can see that, but there's actually a little black strip there, and if you can see the dark black strip, that's actually the air gap between the LCD underneath and the de Penna on top, and you get a more reflective panel because of the lack of coating and that distance and I can show you next to the iPad Air 2. Here that's got a reflective coating and is right.

Next to the LCD, it looks a little bluish, but it's less reflective. If you notice here, I'll bring it in the same place, and you can see the reflections are slightly different. It's not a huge difference, but it is noticeable, especially if you're in a bright environment. The other thing that we don't get is the thinness of the iPad Air 2, but because of that, we do get an exercised battery. That's inside this one, which makes it really nice so that extra battery gives us 10 hours of battery life.

Basically any iPad you get today is a 10-hour battery life give or take, depending on what you're doing. Apple has put a very nice processor chipset in here it has an 9 processor, their own processor 64-bit and has a m9 coprocessor. So it should be plenty fast for everything you do. The display is an IPS display. It's LED, backlit and, like I said it's 9.7 inches it's 2048 by 1536, with 264 pixels per inch, and it still has that oleo phobic coating on it. So you don't see as many smudges and things like that.

So, overall, it's a really nice package for the price and considering its price. It brings a lot to the table either for the education market, the first time iPad, buyer or just anyone that wants to upgrade their iPad from an iPad Air one. This is much faster than an air one and faster than an air two and for a full comparison. I'll link it in the video, but I did a full comparison between this and the iPad Air 2 in that video, and this is not a bad device. People thought it was bad just because they skimped on a few things like that laminated display.

But to me, that's not a negative, because you can actually fix it more easily. You don't have it glued to the display underneath, so it makes it easier to fix, games, load, nice and fast -. This one was already open, but it loads nice and quick things work well, and it just runs, as you would expect. Any iPad ? really nothing's to slow frame rates are good. Everything seems to run fine, and you still get those split view that you get in different iPads that were higher-end from the iPad Air, 1, 2 and newer.

You get the split view. You can run two apps at once. So if you want to run something like music, and you've got your browser, you can do that in portrait or landscape. You can even open up multiple windows for your different browsers, as you can see here, and they work independently of one another, so I think it's suitable for just about anyone. You also get picture and picture for video when you're playing a video, and it's what you expect.

So that's pretty much it. Let me know what you think of the iPad in the comments below, if you haven't subscribed already, please subscribe and like as always thanks for watching this is Erin I'll see you next time.
