Huawei P Smart 2021 vs Samsung Galaxy A51 Comparison Review! Best Budget Smartphones 2020! By TechMagnet

Hey, what's up guys Steven here welcome back to another comparison, and today we are comparing two of the latest smartphones, the Huawei PS, mod 2021 and the Samsung Galaxy a51. Now before we have a closer look at the differences, let's compare the specifications we have a bigger display in the Huawei p smart. We have 6.67 inches compared to 6.5 inches on the Samsung Galaxy a51, but both smartphones run the same resolution of 1080 x, 2400 pixels, talking about the performance, the Huawei PS mod runs the Karin 710a, which is very efficient and the Samsung Galaxy a51 runs the Enos 9611 processors. Both of the smartphones have a quite similar camera setup. Both have a front-facing camera 8 megapixels on the p-smart 32 megapixels on the a51 and both feature a quad camera setup with a main 48 megapixel sensor. But one of the most important things is the battery and the charging speed.

We have a massive five thousand million bars battery in the Huawei PS, mod 2021 and a 4000 million battery in the Samsung Galaxy a51, there's also a difference in the charging speed. We have supercharging with 22.5 watts on the Huawei p smart, and we have 15 watts of fast charging on the Samsung Galaxy a51, alright guys. Now there we go here. We have the Samsung Galaxy a51, and here we have the Huawei smart 2021. What you will see at the first look is that the Huawei PS mod is bigger.

This is because it has a 6.67 inch display and um. The a51 has a 6.5 inch display, but both feature the same resolution. So let's turn it around, and here you can see that really nice finish of the a51, which breaks the light and has this rainbow effect, and here we have um yeah the green version of the Huawei p smart, which also shines really nice here in the light in that green finish, there's also a golden version available and many many other colors. Now, if you have a closer look at the camera setup, then you can see both have a quad camera setup led flash lenses. Look a bit bigger here over on the Huawei, so both have a 48 megapixel main shooter, and we have the higher megapixel count here on the a51 for the non-primary cameras other than that both smartphones feel really nice in the hand but yeah.

The Huawei is just the bigger and heavier one, because it also features a bigger battery. We have five thousand million powers in the Huawei PS, mod 2021 and 4 000 William hours in the a51 also there's a difference in the charging technology, so we have 22.5 watts on the Huawei and only 15 watts on the galaxy a51. Now, if we have a look at the frame, then here you can already see one of the main differences. We have a power button with integrated fingerprint scanner here on the Huawei and here the volume button- and here we just have a normal power button and the volume button. The top here, as you can see, looks quite similar with the top microphone hole.

And here on this side we have the sim card tray and at the bottom we have a 3.5, millimeter headphone jack on both here. The type c port in the middle and yeah microphone, and also the speaker which looks here a bit bigger because there's also more space in the Huawei p smart. Alright, then, let's have a closer look here at the display. Now guys talking about the display, both displays are very bright now it feels like the Samsung would be a little brighter and has also some brighter and more colorful viewing angles, but well, if you use them outdoors with both smartphones, you won't have any issues even in direct sunlight. Now, the screen is very responsive on both smartphones and yeah same resolution, just a bigger screen here on the Huawei.

Now the bezels. If you look at that, they're almost the same size on both devices, the camera over here we have a front facing camera, which is 8 megapixels on the Huawei and 32 megapixels on the Samsung. Now, there's also a difference in the charging speed, so I got around one hour 55 one hour 50 for the a51, and I got only around about one hour 31 hour 35 for the Huawei p smart, even though the piece mod has a bigger battery. It's its charging faster because it has 22.5 watts of supercharging compared to the kind of slow 15 watts of fast charging on the a51. So let's have a closer look at the user interface.

Now regarding the performance, both smartphones perform kinda equal. We have the Karin 710 in the Huawei, and we have the Enos 9611 if I'm right in the a51 um both have four gigabytes of ram and let's check out here the specifications so yeah here you can see it. We have four gigabytes of ram on the a51 four gigabytes of ram on the Huawei, both have 128 gigabytes of internal storage and both have the same resolution of 2400 times 1080 pixels. Now here under about the phone, you can see that both smartphones actually run android 10, so both have actually android but um. The Huawei is coming without the Google mobile services.

It's currently running emu 10.1.1, so the skin on top of android on Samsung, it's called one UI 2.1. So there are some differences, and I'll show you some of them now. First, we have an app drawer here on the um Samsung on the Huawei. We don't have an app drawer for sure you can install everything you want on android. You can install custom launcher whatever now, both smartphones feel actually very smooth here, even though there are some budget devices, so scrolling here through the menu on both smartphones feels absolutely fine.

The same also applies if we open up an application like, for instance, let's open up Instagram and there we go. So if I scroll here through the feed on both it's actually really smooth, there is no stuttering, which you maybe know from budget smartphones, so it looks really, really good, no frame skipping, nothing. So that's really, really fine. Now, if we swipe down from the top we get here, the quick toggles and the notifications looks kind of similar on both smartphones and if you swipe down here, you can see all the quick toggles. You can also edit this on both smartphones, so they're very similar here.

You can go here to edit to sort the switches, and you can do it here if you go to the button order. So as you can see many things so here you can also compare um. The quick toggle features like your personal hotspot screen recorder. Both smartphones have a screen recorder, so well um. There is some very, very similar features here regarding the software, then, let's go quickly here to the settings to show you some differences first um.

I have here the Huawei cloud and the ID, so that's not something new, but it's something that Huawei has for their own ecosystem. So you can also add some cloud storage just like on the iPhone, and also they have now me time, which is very similar to FaceTime in some countries. So they implement a lot of features that you can also find on iOS, for instance, now we have here connectivity, which is here on the connections on the Samsung display brightness. We also have an always on display. I can show you here the biometrics which is kind of interesting, the difference between them.

We have a fingerprint scanner, which is an in display fingerprint scanner on the a51, and we have a normal, conventional fingerprint scanner in the power button on the right side on the Huawei and there's a pretty significant difference in terms of speed. If we take the Huawei- and we just put our finger here on there- just very gentle it unlocks already, and I'll show you this is not a fake. So this is my normal finger. This is here my registered finger, and it works really, really fast. When I use the Samsung, I have to point my finger down here, which is a little inconvenient and then press here on the display and, as you can see, this takes longer than the conventional fingerprint scanner.

I do agree, it's more fancy to have it in display because you don't see it, it's really cool to show it to people who haven't seen it yet, but um yeah. I actually prefer some faster usage than some fancy looks all right, then other than that in the settings. There is not such a big difference. We have here googled, so you have full google mobile services on the Samsung on the Huawei. You don't have any google mobile services, but both as I've told you are running android.

So often here, yeah Huawei doesn't have android. Of course, they have android, but they don't have the Google mobile services I'll quickly. Show you now what difference this makes in real life. Now, if you want to install apps on the Samsung, all you have to do. Are you open up the play store you search for the app you log in your download? We all know that.

So that's not something new! On the Huawei, it's more tricky! You have the Huawei app gallery, which is basically the app store um. It's improving. We have a lot of local apps like here some banking apps from my country, then also some other shopping apps from my country, many news apps. So it's getting much better actually recently, but still there are some apps like, for instance, if you search here for let's say Facebook, there we go, so you will find a lot of applications which are not Facebook, but Huawei has implemented something that that's called the search function, actually pedal search. So it's this widget over here, which is on all new Huawei smartphones, and here you go to find apps and more.

All you have to do over here is entered the name of the app you're searching like Facebook, and then it will show you the source where you can download it. This is from several sources, either from the website itself, like facebook. com android, you just hit the download button, and it's downloading the APK to your smartphone or from some third-party app stores like APK pure. So, as you can see, the installation here is a little different from on um yeah, the Samsung, where you just download and install and boom there you go here. It's downloading in so called APK file, which you have to open and hit the installation button, but yeah it takes a bit longer than the app store.

I do agree, but most of the apps you can get. There are some apps. You cannot get like Google Pay and all the things that need the Google mobile services and yeah in order to get that there is a workaround to install google on Huawei smartphones but yeah, if you're not very well experienced with that, it's really, really tricky to install it and there are some tutorials on my channel so if you're interested make sure to check it out now other than that. Well, the performance as I've told you before it's kind of similar here in day to day usage, there's a huge difference in the battery life. So it's roughly a day of my usage on the a51 on the Huawei I get like one and a half days, because we have um a very big battery.

We have 5000 million bowers here in the Huawei, compared to 4 000 million bars on the Samsung, and that really does make a difference. Even though it's a bigger screen, the rest of the features are quite similar, so you will get the better battery life on the Huawei, but it really depends on your usage. I won't talk about screen on time anymore, because there's so much depends on your usage settings screen brightness and everything it's really hard to talk about that in general. Now for sure you can also get some google apps or actually some work around for Google apps on the Huawei, for instance, if you search for YouTube over here, then we can search here in the um petal search function. There is a native YouTube application for sure on the Samsung you just open it up and boom there.

You go you log in, and you have all your subscriptions and everything here on Huawei, it's kind of different. There are some third-party YouTube apps or some so-called quick apps that are basically browser, apps that you can add to your home screen. This is actually not something you install on your smartphone. This is opening up the browser kind of, but you can also sign in have almost the same features, not everything. There are some features missing, of course, so let's try, for instance, to play back a movie, so I can show you first the difference in the screen and, second of all, some features that are also different.

So, let's go so guys here. You can pretty much see the difference in terms of the screen, so we have a bit warmer tones on the Samsung bit more saturated on the Samsung than on the Huawei, and also you can see the difference in terms between native apps and browser apps browser app, for instance, on youtube. As you can see, there is no pinch to zoom, also the quality. As you can see here, you would have to adjust. It's not um that easy, like in the native app here in the native app you can just zoom to fill and do everything which you cannot do here in the browser app that are some downsides.

You have to live with or install some third-party video app like YouTube advanced, for instance, that would be a workaround for that some google apps are working on the same. For instance, let's talk about Google Maps, so we have maps over here. Maps is, for instance, working really fine on both devices. So there we go here. We have Google Maps and yeah.

This app is absolutely the same, and it was installed from the Huawei um pedal search, so not from the app gallery and pedal search will guide you to APK pure to download the APK and boom there. You go. You install it, and you have the application on your smartphone actually kind of easy, but takes more time, and if you're not, that advanced in installing APKs, you should probably stick to a Google certified smartphone. Now both smartphones have the single speaker at the bottom. The earpiece is not working as a stereo speaker or something so forget that and yeah here you can listen to the audio quality of the Samsung, and it feels like both sound kind of flat with not too much bass.

The Huawei is a little louder, but in general, both speakers are sounding kind of equal, not really a lot of bass at maximum volume. They rattle a little so well um those are budget devices, they don't have the best speakers, but yeah. They are getting the job done now. Regarding the day-to-day performance, I can quickly show you um we're going to clean the ram over here, and then we're going to open up the same applications on both devices. So, first, we will start with Google Maps and one two three so as you can see the Huawei loads, some applications faster at the cold boot and also in some applications.

It's a bit faster for scrolling, which is kind of surprising. So, as you can see here, also there's a faster load up for Amazon, but well that are some really minor differences. Other than that I didn't experience any hard hiccups, or something so for budget devices that has really improved. That is really smooth already on 200 euro phones, and that is something I didn't expect on both now. Both smartphones are capable of gaming, so I did set the Huawei and the galaxy to HD and high and, as you can see, you have a skipped frame, sometimes, if there's a lot of stuff going on, so we can also check it here on the Samsung, so yeah, it's pretty much the same performance wise.

You don't notice a huge difference here. Let's try to rotate the airplane over here, also here on the Huawei, so some hiccups here and there, but most of the 3d games are playable and in terms of performance they are kinda similar. Now, even though the cameras sound quite similar on the paper, there are some differences. So let's open up the camera application, so we have photo mode. We have video mode single, take and here under more, we have a few different things like pro mode on both smartphones, there's also HDR here on the Huawei um hi-res pictures.

Some things which are missing over here, but the main difference, at least for me, is that you cannot shoot 4k on the Huawei. You can shoot 4k here on the Samsung I'll quickly show you, let's switch the camera. So if you go here to rear video size, you can actually get up to 4k resolution on the Huawei. You are limited here to 1080p, because the chipset doesn't support 4k, encoding and yeah in terms of the image quality. We have warmer tones with more detail on the a51 than on the Huawei, and you can check this out for yourself.

I won't talk too much about picture quality. I will just say: look at the pictures write a comment down below. What do you think is better the Huawei or the galaxy? I will let the community decide for this one, just my feedback on the video. Both videos in 1080p look perfect, also with and without stabilization, but you're missing out, 4k recording on the Huawei. That's the biggest difference now guys.

Here's a quick 1080p test on both smartphones. So I did now set the galaxy from 4k to 1080p. Now check this out over here, dynamic range, the colors. Now the sun on the roof looks in reality really, really nice, because the sun is going down right now. Here also check out this the details of the tree, and maybe let's check out some close-up over here.

So let's try to focus here on the galaxy and one time focusing here on the Huawei, so yeah guys that's pretty much it in 1080p. Let me know what you think so guys: here's a quick front-facing camera recording test on the galaxy a40 and the smart 2021. So, while um on the galaxy, the colors, they look way warmer. So it looks like some warmer color tone and on the Huawei I look kind of white here, at least in the preview, on the display. Now regarding the details, it looks like the Huawei would pick up more details but yeah.

Let me know what you see on the computer and also listen to the audio quality of both smartphones, I'm holding it right now around 70 centimeters away from my body and yeah. Let's try it here in the shadow and yeah. Definitely much warmer color tones here on the a40 and on the Huawei, I'm a little white alrighty guys. This is now a comparison with the regular lens and, as you can see, it catches way more light, so low light. Videos are looking definitely much better and both phones don't have too many problems here with changing lightning conditions.

But, as you can see, the Huawei um yeah can change much faster here than the Samsung on the Samsung I have to tap and then, while it's changing all right, guys we're now here at the end of this video and now a little of feedback now, even though that this smartphone doesn't have Google well, there are many. Many workarounds I'll also make an updated tutorial on how to get apps on Huawei devices. So, regarding the specs, they are kind of similar, nothing for most of the people that buy a budget smartphone. It really matters that you have an average camera that you have perfect battery life fast charging and all that. So I think the Huawei PS mod is a perfect choice, but also if you want to stay in the Google ecosystem, the Samsung Galaxy a51 is also a perfect choice.
