HTC Wildfire preview

Hey there, everybody Phil here for android central. com and we're here with a new phone well new to us in the U. S. anyway, it's the HTC Wildfire little 3.2 inch device kind of standard stock. HTC stops. You got your earpiece up top down on the bottom.

You got your fork passive buttons that we used to home menu back and search, and then you have a little trackpad that we've seen on the HTC legend on the droid, incredible so pretty standard stuff. On the back, you got a 5 megapixel camera with flash, that's good to see and HTC logo. Now you got these cool little screws, that's part of the design, but it's also functional as well. If you had to take the phone apart, that's how they do it at the micro, USB port and volume buttons, and that's it top. You got the power button and 3.5 millimeter headphone jack. So let's turn this guy on and see what we can see there.

You got the all tel logo, that's kind of cool to see this is on all tel in the U. S. they're still around. They haven't gone anywhere. Yet, as long as we're waiting for that to boot up, let's put it up next to some other phones.

Here we can't even fit the droid x on the screen. It's so much bigger, but there's the droid x, the droid x has a 4.3-inch screen. This has a 3.2-inch screen and there you can see the difference. Almost a full inch. Diagonally here is the OF 4g.

Another 4.3 inch device huge, huge difference. It's almost kind of funny. It's not really on the thick side. Furthermore, it feels pretty good in the hand, actually there's the droid to a little more reasonable there, but still the screen size difference. Furthermore, it's just really, really noticeable.

So all right we're almost booted up now. Here's the thing about this screen right. It's a 3.2-inch screen, but it's half of 320 x, 240, some screens you're. Getting now are 320 x, 480 like on the droid pro, but this is 320 x, 240, we're going to Pat them pop the battery cover off and there's the battery and zoom in. So we can see, there's the micro SD card, it's not spring-loaded or anything.

So all you have to do is just pull it out, and then it will pop right back in, but it's nice, so you don't have to take a battery out to get to it. That's cool! So let's put the cover back on again happy GA, so it's 320 x, 240! The screen is not the highest resolution, and you're going to start seeing here in a minute we'll get some good comparisons, and it's doable I think I hang in now. No sorry I can't live with it.320 x, 2, 320, x, 480 I could do this. Is that here on the Samsung transform the sprint transform and that's 320 x 480, but the Wildfire on the left is 320 x, 240, and it just really is a big difference. Just see it here, a little as we go through the setup screens standard HTC, Sense, you've seen it before you've seen it again, and you're going to see it some more now.

Nothing has really changed, so we will skip through all this. And finally, here we come. Let's see if we can get a better look at the two screens side by side. So again, on the left, it's 320 x, 240 on the right. It's 320, x, 480, and so I'm not sure how much you'll be able to tell in the video but side by side it yeah.

It's just a huge difference. So we'll take another look at that in a second. So here we go with sense, again same old since still good I still like sense. A lot I've just seen a lot of it. So, let's flip through the home screens.

You have the leap feature, so you can get to all seven on home screens, one by one. You don't have to scroll through them, but if you want to scroll through them, here's how you do it. City has a 528 megahertz processor. So it's not the speediest in the world, but then again it's not supposed to and the screen doesn't necessarily need. You know like a full gear.

Its processor right, storage, get 512, ROM and 384 ram. So you know it's not a high-end device, but it's not supposed to be hide device and get your usual widgets that we are used to now. Let's go: take a look at the settings and see exactly what we have here and software information android 2.1 update, 1, whether this will ever get Frodo. That's a good question: Adam new, it's probably not too high up on the food chain for that sort of thing, but then again one surprise me if it did so, we have two gigabyte micro SD card in there now, and we've got about one hundred and forty-nine megabytes of memory left over and that's not a lot. So you're not going to be.

You know, running every game in the world on this, but you're not going to be doing that anyway, right because of the screen size, let's see otherwise same settings menu that we've seen two hundred times now here, let's switch over and do a little comparison on the web browser, so I pulled up android central on all three phones, and hopefully you'll really be able to see the difference here on the left. You have the wildfire and the middle you have. The transformed on the righty of the droid x, the droid x has the highest resolution screen at 480 x, 854. The transform is 320 x, 480 and the Wildfire again is 320 x 240, and not only do you obviously get more screen real estate on something like the turbo tax, but just pictures look fantastic. They look the way they should be just about transforms.

Ok, I think I can live with that in the Wildfire. Just 320 x, 240 I, just I can't do it I did it I can't justify that kind of under any circumstances, and it's weird, so the Wildfire is close to the HTC aria right, but the Aria has 320 x, 480. So go figure. Here's quick look at the apps. We have really no bloatware and that's nice to see.

There's an FM radio. I know everybody loves those get ahead, headphones plugged in to use it, but really no bloatware to be found. No carrier crap way right and that's good to see. Thank you all fell kudos for that. So there you go transfer data.

You can move stuff over from your old phone, that's good to see I like that. They include that that helps people come over from feature. Phones. Take a quick look at the wallpapers to see if there's anything cool I'm, seeing this for the first time to with you pretty standard stuff, you'll notice, no live wallpapers. That shouldn't be much of a surprise, even though it has android 2.1. Just the hardware is not quite there for including, of course, the screen resolution, but you know it's not supposed to be high in phone.

Let's just all keep repeating that over and over so there you go guys a very quick look at the HTC Wildfire on all tel you'll, see you later. You.
