HTC U11 Review and Hands-On: Mediocrity at It's Best

This is sky from make you sub calm, and today we're taking a look at the HTC. U 11 HTC has revamped their flagship line once again with this phone, and while it has a lot of great features, it has a bunch of other drawbacks out of the box. It comes with the case and HD sees you Sonic headphones, which actually use a sonar like technology to map out your inner ear to customize the audio that you hear. It also comes with a USB type-c ? 3.5, millimeter headphone jack adapter, because the u11 does not have a headphone jack. Despite dropping the headphone jack, the u11 isn't the thinnest phone out there at 7.9 millimeters thick. It's actually thicker than other phones that do have a headphone jack.

What you get instead is just the lone USB type-c port at the bottom, which means you'll either need Type, C headphones or wireless headphones also along. The bottom is a thin slot for the speaker, which produces good quality audio but doesn't get quite as loud as other flagship smartphones on the right. You'll find the power button and volume rocker up top is the NATO SIM card slot and micro SD card slot, making the U 11 one of the last high-end smartphones to support expandable storage. The back side of the U 11 is glossy and reflective something that HTC calls liquid glass I found it to smudge easily and just not look that great in general. Also, on the back is a 12 megapixel camera with an F, 1.7, aperture and optical image. Stabilization.

It gets pretty great photos in all lighting conditions on the front is a 16 megapixel camera, but it has an F, 2.0 aperture and no optical image, stabilization, meaning it struggles a bit more in low-light. The fingerprint scanner along the bottom doubles as a home button and is flanked by two capacitive keys for the back and recent functions. Most manufacturers have ditched capacitive keys by now in favor of software keys, but it looks like HTC is holding out. The screen itself is a quad HD display that looks crisp and bright. It uses Corning Gorilla Glass 5, so it should be pretty hard to break as well.

The edges are gently curved, which feels really great when swiping in from the side of the device on the software side of things you're looking at Android, 7.1 nougat but modified by HTC, Sense interface. This means that the default launcher has the distinct look and feel you can swipe over to the left to access blink feed, a stream of news and updates, and you can theme the device. However, you like using HTC's theme, store HCC's biggest trick with the. U 11, though, is a feature called edge sense. This allows you to the phone to launch a CERN app.

Your mileage may vary with this, but I found it more gimmicky than useful. It was hard to launch at times uncomfortable and forgettable, there's also a ton of personal virtual assistants in the U 11. In addition to Google assistant, you also have Amazon's Alexa for performing searches and the HTC Sense companion for updating you with traffic information and other information, that's relevant to you. It all just kind of feels redundant. The U 11 is outfitted with ip67 water resistance, which means you can have it in up to one meter of water for up to 30 minutes.

Overall, though, the HTC u11 seems to have more cons than pros. While it has a solid camera and screen, it could be a lot better if it dropped the capacitive keys, boosted the speaker's audio and toned down the Sense interface. It's currently available for about $650 on Amazon, but you can head over to make you sub comm, to read the full review and see how you can win an HTC? U 11! For yourself.
