HTC Desire 12+ Review: Entry-Level Phone That Surpasses Expectations

Budget phones always get a bad rep because they are either too slow, have awful build qualities or the cameras are just terrible, but HTC has decided to change all that because when they release the desire, 12 plus, it really seemed like they wanted to put all their effort that they can into an entry-level phone to make it feel like a mid-range phone. So with that guys, let's take a look at the desire.12 plus HTC has always been known for their excellent build quality, and just because this is a budget phone, they still took the effort to bring a premium and beautiful design for the HTC desire, 12 plus, given that the phone is still made of plastic, it is still by far the best looking entry phone that I have ever had the pleasure of reviewing on the back. You will find the dual camera setup and a fingerprint sensor with the HTC logo in the middle and very minimal serial codes at the bottom of the phone on the front is the 18, by nine six-inch, HD plus display, and to my overwhelming relief? There is no notch on the top of the phone and the bezel are at its minimum. You seriously can be fooled into thinking that this is a premium flagship phone just by looking at it, as a lot of people have asked me if this is a new flagship phone from HTC as an entry-level phone, it comes with a snapdragon, 45o, 3, gigabytes of ram and 32 gigabytes of expandable storage, but don't let the specs fool you, as HTC has done an excellent job in optimizing the sense UI making this phone perform buttery smooth throughout my two weeks of use, the only crash I experienced it's on WhatsApp, which happened twice during my use, but I'm going to let that slide, and it is, after all, a low spec phone, and I was expecting way more crashes than just that. Thanks to its optimizations games also run pretty well on the phone. There are rare cases where frame skips are present in games like shadow gun legends, but other smaller titles like Super Mario run, and star loss works perfectly fine.

The gaming experience is further extended thanks to the color reproductions from the screen, which it also makes it great for watching movies and series on Netflix. Perhaps the one small problem I had with the display is that the icons and tracks were way too big. When I first powered up the phone, the keyboard took almost half of the screen, but it was a simple fix of switching the display size to small in the settings and downloading swift key and selecting the smaller keyboard once all of these are done. The icons and text look much better, and it also gave me more screen space to view my content. The speakers do sound pretty good for an entry level phone as it gets really loud, with the emphasis on vocal clarity.

There might not be enough bass for some of you, but I do believe if you are planning to listen to music on this phone. I do recommend using the 3.5 headphone jack that is available on this phone. I have to say that the 13 megapixel and 2 megapixel camera setup on the back exceeded my expectation for entry level. Phone details are very clear and color. Reproduction is by far the best I've ever tested on any entry level phone and even some mid-range phones.

The shutter speed is slightly on the slow side even during the day, but with a little effort on stating your hand, the desire 12 will be able to take very nice shots. There is also the option to activate the both feature which does perform rather well, as long as you know how to line up a shot and make it easy for the phone to detect the depth. You can get a really nice both shot with this phone moving over to the front similar to the rear camera. The 8 megapixel selfie camera does produce very nice colors, but it does a mediocre job in capturing details, especially when it came to my hair and beard. The shutter speed is also much slower on the front camera than the back, so you might have some problems if you want to take a selfie while walking.

However, for those of you that, like to take night selfies you'll, be happy to know that there is a LED flash on the front. The camera software does have some basic mode. They have seen in many other camera pieces of software, but one of the features that caught my attention is the ability to choose the focus of the image. Even after you have taken the shot. Sometimes the software can't make out what is the foreground and the background, so the blur might overlap the area that you want to focus on.

Overall, I am honestly impressed with the rear camera. It is nice that, even if the desire, 12 plus, is an entry level, phone HTC has brought all their hard work and effort into making the rear cameras stand out of the crowd. The dire 12 plus comes with a 2965 William hour battery, but because it is running on a power efficient processor, it has managed to offer me one and a half days of use, and this is including watching live streams, playing games and doing a lot of texting on the phone, because the battery has such a low capacity. It does not take very long to charge up in about an hour of charging. You will definitely have more than enough battery to last you the entire day.

So guys there you have it, that is the desire 12 plus now this phone retails for 899 ringgits. I know some of you might think that that is a bit on the expensive side for an entry-level phone. Well, if you think about it, this phone kind of performs very close to a mid-range phone, and you get the build quality of HTC and pretty decent cameras for an entry level phone. So I guess at the end of the day, I'll leave it up to you to decide whether the price is worth it or not. So guys as usual, if you like, this video, do give us a thumbs up subscribe if you're, not because we take out videos like this every week and of course guys, I will see you in the next video.

It is raining, and we have to shoot the video and that's the worst part.
