HP Chromebook X2 Review: The Best Chrome Tablet Right Now! By Sypnotix

What's going on guys, Alice's have no tech, and we are going to be talking about one of my favorite subjects once again, Chromebooks today we're taking a look at a really popular Chromebook out there, one that I should have reviewed a long time ago, but you're seeing discounts everywhere. So I think it's a good time to talk about this again right now, we're talking about the HP Chromebook x2. It's a detachable Chromebook, one of the big competitors to the Google slate, and here are my thoughts and on our full review of HP's flagship Chromebook a couple of years back, I had the HP Chromebook 13 g1, and that was my main Chromebook, my daily driving Chromebook and I love that one, because at the time we didn't really have like perfect, build quality Chromebooks, and that was the first one to actually be not plastic, and it was a great Chromebook. Really nice screen. I was really happy to use that it was pretty well priced. So HP has a history, at least with me, for reducing pretty nice premium Chromebooks, but the x2 has a lot of going for it.

In the first thing, that's really nice about it is: it runs the core em. So it's a fan list processor, its core m3, that's the model we have, and it's also a seven chance. Oh, it's already a little old compared to the newer processors, but it still performs admirably really nice. So that's four gigabytes of RAM, though so that kinda is unfortunate for this particular model. But honestly Chromebooks, you don't need much more.4 gigabytes is plenty to run the OS and your most Android, apps and stuff like that. Really well, when you factor in Chrome OS and how fast that operating system is and how simple it is.

It's just a terrific experience on this and I really like the finless aspect of this particular laptop, and I'll, get to that in a different video where I'm going to compare its brother, the excuse brother, the Chromebook 14 from HP, which spoiler I love that laptop a lot I. Think it's a terrific one, but that one has a fan: where's a i3, so the i3 processor has a fan. This core m3 does not have a fan. So there is a difference here, and we'll talk about that in that video, so stay tuned for that in the near future and to continue on with getting some specs out of the way. We have a twelve point.

Three-inch screen, it's a very nice big screen, that's better than quad HD. It's an IPS display and I think this is a very nice screen, one of the best ones out there for Chromebooks at the moment. Colors are sharp. It is a very nice display, a couple of other things going on with this is we have 32 gigabytes of storage, which is minimal it's better than some really cheap Chromebooks, which give you absolutely nothing. But 32 is very minimal, especially with Android apps, but you do have expandable storage, which is Attlee something, and then you have to type C USB 3.0 ports, which is terrific one on each side of the laptop. So you don't have to fight to get your cable on one side or the other.

You have it on each side and that's terrific. You can also plug in additional accessories. If you need through USB, see the Pens actually include it in your purchase, that's terrific! It's not like the Microsoft Surface pros or the Apple pencils and the Google Pixel book ones where you have to purchase additional accessory. This is actually included, and they even include an area for you to store the pen on the keyboard. So it's flimsy, and it gets in the way, sometimes, but at least it's there, they gave you an option to put the pen in there.

So thank you, HP, for doing that. That's awesome, I wish more companies would just throw in these things, and it's not even just like a throw away. This is a pretty decent stylus, it's better than the cheap fifteen to thirty dollar range stuff that you can get on Amazon. It's its not a throw away. It's a good pen, alright! So we've got most of the spec stuff out of the way and I gave you a little of my thoughts on those.

Let's talk about one of the vital things which is the typing experience on this detachable keyboard. So this is a very basic detachable keyboard. You have two magnetic mounts that slap, the Chromebook tablet the tab into place with the keyboard, the included keyboard they H P is trying to make you feel like it's a premium typing experience with the materials. It's not, but it's a decent typing experience, so keys are too shallow for my liking. It's not bad, it's not bad at all, which is why I really appreciate what HP did, instead of just giving a really crappy throw away or making a really nice one and making you or charging you to go out and buy it, they put a really solid one in there include it in your purchase.

That's a very big deal to a consumer. One thing that we are missing there is it's not backlit. The keyboard is not backlit, which, if you've used a backlit keyboard, it's hard to go back to a non backlit keyboard. But here is why I think this is a win, a form factor there, ergonomics on a foreign factory and I sound like a broken record. But if you watch my pixel slate review, I made a big deal about the form factor: I, don't like the folio keyboard that Google the stock Google folio keyboard I thought it was just very inconvenient for a bunch of situations now I'm, very flexible.

You can't use it for arrangement of things. You should watch that video to see what I was talking about. This is the anti pixel slate. It's the perfect traditional laptop form factor that you can go probably like 75 over 75% back. You can also pull it out.

Although I don't really love the magnetic mounts on here. The keyboard mounts as much HP here it is works, but you have to really be precise about how you slap the thing in, or you can miss it. Sometimes it's not connected in now. All the hardware stuff is great. Fine and dandy.

I give it a thumbs up battery life here is pretty solid, too I'm getting about like eight nine hours of pretty heavy use, basically same use as every Chromebook I test. So whatever numbers I said in the other Chromebooks, you got to match it. Nine hours 89 hours pretty good stuff. However, it is a little heavy for out like a tablet. Stander, it's three pounds is a little over three pounds, so that actually brings us to the weight of it.

This is kind of like a great area and in Chrome OS right now we got like kind of these tab, looking devices and traditional laptops. What do we think of this? Is this a traditional laptop style? Or is this a tablet? That's by tablet standards, even with the keyboard fold, it up it's a little heavy, it's its kind of heavy for a tablet, and then, if it's a laptop yeah, it's fine, it's not heavy at all. Three pounds is now I. Have you for a laptop or for a tablet, definitely is heavy and that about wraps it up for this video I think this is a terrific Chromebook and even though the processor is a couple of years old, now, I don't think it's a great purchase, especially with the price drop at about like 399. It's really, really good for your value, but before you buy it, you should also check out some other videos.

I'm going to compare this to the Chromebook 14 HP Chromebook 14, which is very similar in price now, and it's newer, and it's more of a traditional laptop and also the pixel sleigh.
