Google Pixel XL - Worth it in 2019? (Real World Review)

This is the ultimate question: what phone should I buy today? Not everyone has a thousand dollars to spend on a phone, but if you have $200 or less, this might be the phone for you. But let's talk about it first, should you buy the Google Pixel XL in 2019, hello, everyone? My name is Matt, and this is real world review check out the social media above and check out the description for some extras. Let's get started, I love this screen the screen is 5.5 inches in the resolution is 1440p even now. I have no complaints with this screen. It isn't as bright as some galaxy s, phones like the SI or the s9, but it is brighter than the Huawei made Nexus 6p, it's rocking the 16 by 9 ratio that we all used to love, and I personally have no issue with that sure they could have hit some extra screen in this chin right here, but the world wasn't ready for the 18 by 9 ratio that we've all been forced to get used to. This is a big phone, but the screen fits so perfectly that you don't really have to stretch that much to tap the corners.

Just like the Motor z2 force. I think that this screen situation was handled perfectly. The only issue that you really have to worry about is screen burn. The battery life is terrible, but that's alright. The phone is going on three years old, and the battery will be too when testing the battery.

The Geek bench test gave me about 3 hours of life. In comparison, my 1 plus 60 hits over 8 hours in the exact same test. However, after I changed the battery on this phone it hit over 5 hours, even with the old battery I still got a day's use out of it, which is all that you really need. This phone charge is really fast on the charger, though it seems like it maxes out at 12 watts of charging, even though the stock charger is 18 watts. So even if your battery sucks, you can throw it on the charger for a few minutes and get a decent charge.

Wireless charging is missing from the phone, but that's because of the metal back. The glass portion is too little and too high for them to add a coil up there. This is a pretty decent phone for everyday stuff for Android PI for YouTube and other social media. This phone is a champ. The four gigabytes of RAM sounds weak, but it's perfect for the Snapdragon 820 one chip that they put in this phone playing games like pub, G shirt, the graphics drop and there will be some lying, but that's what's expected when you're trying to play a 20-18 game on a 2016 phone other than that the phone flies through tasks and rarely freezes up.

It's honestly surprising how well this phone runs, but it does have stock Android. So it makes sense. The speaker setup is singular, but it's not a terrible one. It still gets pretty loud and works for what I needed it for which is generally podcast or some bass filled music. There is still a headset jack on this phone.

If you need more sound crazy right, the earpiece speaker, which is used for calls, was blown when I got this phone, so I replaced it. That might be something to think about when you're buying a used phone. The camera is amazing even to this day. Well, is it really? This phone lacks optical image, stabilization and portrait mode, which is weird to me to fix this. They give you electronic image, stabilisation and lens blur, which are both awkward to me when the phone is still.

The images come out. Looking stunning just like when this phone originally launched, these cameras still got it the front. One is decent as well, nothing too crazy about that one, but the back camera will give you some high quality shots just make sure to stay stable when recording video speaking of 4k 30 frames per second is here as well as 1080p at 60 frames per second, unlike the pixel 3 I personally had no issues with this camera, but you will be missing out on optical image, stabilisation telephoto, 2 times, shots, wide-angle shots and a proper portrait mode. The night shots do make up for some of that, though oh yeah, the back camera, also has a laser, auto, focusing unit which works really fast sure you may be sold on this phone, but how long will it? Last so far we have talked about the fact that screen burning is fairly common on these phones, along with the battery life becoming horrible. After a couple of years of usage, there are some things that the phone lacks that were fixed on the pixel 2xl, like the lack of water, resistance, dual speakers and optical image.

Stabilisation with that said, the phone does have not only a headset jack, but a USB-C port on the bottom that is capable of charging pretty fast. As of the software, 2019 will not be the last year of support on this phone. Android q is already in beta, and this phone supports that there are talks that Google may or may not give this phone a full release. But this issue has never happened in the past for Google the phone lacks wireless charging, but that's part of the little list of gimmicks that this phone lacks, at least in my opinion, it isn't required to make a phone crate. I mean look at the OnePlus 60.

So what do you think? Should you buy this one in 2019, I would say yes, the phone is a pretty good buy for someone. That's either looking for a phone to get you through the year or for someone who doesn't need the latest and greatest phone. This phone is going on three years, just like the Samsung s7, but the pixel excels performance seems a lot better and that's all I wanted to talk about.
