Google Pixel XL vs Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Camera Test Comparison

What's up YouTube, saccharin, superstar TV and welcome to another epic superstar style camera comparison, this time between the Samsung, Galaxy, s7 and s7 edge versus the Google Pixel and pixel XL, so in the usual style, we'll be looking at both the front and rear facing cameras, and then I image, as well as video to do also look at for the audio icon in the corner of the screen, and that will indicate to you which device the audio is coming from, and I'll be switching between these two to give you guys a better idea of the differences in audio as well, so we're currently using the front-facing cameras on both devices at maximum resolution. So that's 1080p on the pixel XL and on the s7 edge. It is quad HD, so 1440p. So you do have a high resolution on the s7 and s7 edge, and we'll be switching to the rear facing cameras and doing lots of different tests, including low-light, so do hit that thumbs up button and let's get straight to it. So now we are using the rear facing cameras on both. We are forming at full 4k and although this video is exported out at 1080p, this doesn't mean we can crop in further.

This is an interesting situation, because we've got some light coming from the background, so it should show us how well this can handle dynamic range. Now we're going to take a bit of walk at 4k and see how well these do for stabilization now to test out the stabilization using 1080p. Most cameras do work a little better at 1080p, so I'm just taking a bit of a walk through this little passage here and let me know which one you think's more stable and what will now start to do is: let's do a bit run to really, really test these down now indoors under room lighting with the pixel XL and going from something that's close to far superfast, very, very fast and seems to be locking on focus really well same lighting with the s7 edge. Also, superfast, it's very difficult to tell which one is faster. We've got do pixel to focus here, which is still doing really, really well difficult to tell.

Let me know in the comments, so that was the video now before we move on to images. Let's just get some details clarified. The s7 and s7 edge have a 5 megapixel front-facing camera with an F 1.7 aperture. The rear facing camera is 12 megapixels, with an F, a 1.7 aperture optical image, stabilization and dual pixel to focus the Google Pixel on pixel AFCEL have a twelve point: three megapixel rear-facing camera with an F 2.0 aperture, an electronic image stabilization. Now the pixels are slightly larger compared to the s7 and s7 edge, and we have phase and laser detection autofocus which work together.

The front-facing camera is 8 megapixels, with an F 2.4 aperture, once again with larger pixels. Now, if you like, the skin, that I have here on the s7 edge and want to pick up one for your own device, whether that be the s7, the pixel and iPhone or anything else, then definitely check out our sponsor for this video, which is d brand, it's a great way to customize the look of your smartphone, and I'll leave a link to them in the description below also disclaim. Our all images and video that you see have been taken on automatic I have not tweaked any of the settings, and this is to keep things as fair as possible. So starting off with a super safe style, car selfie, you can see that both are doing very well. You've got a slightly wider angle of view on the s7, but the pixel definitely has more detail and a better dynamic range.

If you look towards the back, the details on the house a little blown out on the s7, but those have been very well maintained on the pixel moving in 100%, because you have 8 megapixels versus 5 megapixels. You can also crop in much further, and you have lots more detail. You can look towards my beard and all of those individual strands of hair are visible here on the pixel, so it is definitely doing a better job. Now doing a test completely outdoors in bright sunlight. You can see that both once again are doing very, very well, but the pixel is edging out here because of the better dynamic range I.

Just on a side note to mention that the pixel actually applies the HDR plus processing after the fact, so what you actually see on screen will look a little different, so before I took this selfie I just took a quick screenshot to show you what actually is displayed on screen and at this point I did think that the s7 was going to do better. But when I went and looked at the image in the photo gallery, the HDR plus was applied, and it did look much better on the s7 what-you-see-is-what-you-get. So this is just something to bear in mind and if you do look at your screen, and you're thinking hold on the dynamic range, isn't so great on the pixel. Just remember that this is applied after the fact now doing a low-light selfie test. So this is under room lighting.

The pixel once again doing much better here. You've got a brighter image and I think the larger pixels are definitely helping here with the s7. There looks like some processing going on to try to make it perform a little better in low light. Now remember: Beauty face was turned off on this, so it's not the beauty face processing! That's going on here. It does seem to be some sort of processing that goes on when you take selfies in low-light, so when here would have to go to the pixel now using the front-facing flash on the s7, which illuminates the front display.

This is not available on the pic, so I couldn't find it anyway and the pixel still performing better, even without that front-facing flash now moving on to an outdoor image. You can see that both are doing great here slight differences in color, but we can see lots of detail. Let's go in 100% lots of detail here. I think both doing very, very well looks like the pixel has a slight bit more detail in the shadows, and it is bringing those shadows out a little better, but very closely are both doing exceptionally well now, moving on to a white outdoor shot here, both doing very, very well once again, it's very difficult to pick a winner here. The colors great details, great and the dynamic range is also great on a both image is so to take this test.

A little further I went to a situation where we could test the dynamic range further, and here the pixel is winning out. The HDR+ is definitely doing wonders for it. This is a very tricky situation, but you can see that although the s7 is doing very, very well to take out those shadows, the pixel is definitely winning out here and moving on to an indoor low-light shot, the s7 definitely winning out here a much brighter image. It's a lot cleaner, as well with less noise going in 100%. You can further see this.

The text is much clearer on the s7 and the colors, also better, on the s7. You've got this sort of green tint on the pixel now moving on to an outdoor shot in a low-light both doing really well here, but the s7 does seem to have more detail and the colors are also a bit better compared a 2d pixel, and when we go in 100%, you can see that there is definitely more detail here on the s7 and I believe the optical image. Stabilization is definitely helping here on the pixel, it's not as sharp, and although you do have larger pixels here, it doesn't seem to be doing as well as the optical image stabilization and the wide F 1.7 aperture on at the s7. Now. Finally, looking at an image we're using the flash on both devices, I think both are doing very well here.

Things can come down to your personal preference, like the colors a little better on the s7, but the pixel isn't as harsh, so I think. That's going to come down to your personal preference. So there we have it. The epic super surf style camera comparison between the Galaxy S7 and s7 edge versus the Google Pixel and pixel XL I think both did exceptionally well to conclude for the front-facing camera I would have to give the edge for video to the s7. You had more detail because of the high resolution and also better dynamic range on video, but for photos from the front-facing camera.

The pixel was a winner with better dynamic range because of the HDR plus mode, and it looks like that is only applied for photos. The HDR for video doesn't seem as good, and these selfies also had more detail because of 8 megapixels versus 5 megapixels, and although the s7 did have a slightly wider angle, hence the pixel did get the overall winner for selfies. Now for the rear-facing camera video, it was a bit of a draw. I would say, because a for quality I would have to give the edge to the s7 also seem to have a little better dynamic range. However, for stabilization, the pixel did do lot better.

Now. This was a little bit surprising because you've got electronic image. Stabilization versus optical, but Google's seem to have implemented that really well, and it did do a good job of stabilizing. The footage now for the autofocus I would have to give it a tie. I mean I didn't expect to be saying this, because I really thought that nothing could match the speed of the s7 with the dual pixel to focus, but the pixel and pixel weigh excel seemed to do really, really well with the combination of laser, as well as phase detection of the focus now for outdoor images.

Both were very, very good, but the pixel had better dynamic range. Once again, HDR+ seems to be doing really, really well on the pixel, and it really does a great job of maintaining those shadows and highlights for low-light. However, the s7 is still king with more detail and a better image overall, both indoors and outdoors and I think this does come down to the optical image stabilization and the wider F 1.7 aperture. So, although you do have larger pixels on the pixel in low-light situations because of the slow shutter speed it looks like there is still some handshake there, which does affect the final result. So at the low-light, a win it does have to go to the s7 for do.

I would have to give the win to the s7 s wall, because you have stereo sound compared to mono sound. So to me and my ears, the s7 definitely sounded a lot fuller and more rich. That's what I think anyway. What do you think drop me? A comment below and let me know, I have to say: I am impressed with both cameras here, and these two are some of the best cameras that you are going to find on any smartphone of 2016 Google have done a very, very well on. There are some wins for the s7 and some wins for the pixel, so I do think it's going to come down to what sort of situations you shoot more as to which one of these will be better for you, and hopefully this video has helped out in that.

If it has, then please do hit that thumbs up one for me. It really does help me out.
