Google Pixel 3a XL vs Pixel 3 XL FIGHT!

Hey, what's up it's Jared with State tech, and today I have to pixel phones, that's right: I have the pixel three XL and the pixel XL 3a, or whatever order that all goes in, but Google announced at Google I/o 2019 a new, more budget-friendly version of the Google Pixel 3, and it's absolutely fantastic. It has a lot of the great features that we know and love from the pixel. So I want to talk about what the differences are, because they're touting that 399 price tag, which is absolutely fantastic, considering it comes with a great camera, a great screen and, of course, just great overall Google performance. So what's the difference between the two? That's why I wanted to talk about here today? So I've got the three XL over here, and I have or actually this is the that's how hard it is even to tell when they're turned off. I've got the 3a over here in the three XL over here. As you can see, there are some differences in the display size.

The three XL is going to have a little bigger of a display. It has the notch, whereas the 3a does not, so you get a little smaller of a display, but if you would rather have maybe a little of a forehead on your phone for those sensors to avoid having the notch all together. This is a notch list phone. So maybe that's something that you are more interested in, but nonetheless the screens are perfect. The brightness.

Let's just go ahead and crank that up on both phones here, and we can see kind of the difference between the two of them in brightness, as you can see, they're both pretty close to the same as far as brightness viewing angles is perfect. On both of the phones. I mean you really can't tell a lot of a difference between the displays and even when you get in really close and kind of try to pixel peep you're, not really gonna. Tell too much of a difference between the displays, even though the display technology is a little better in the three XL, but as far as the pixels per inch go, they're really, really close, so you're not gonna. Tell too much of a difference there, things do appear a little bigger on the three XL because of the larger display.

There just seems to be a little more room. Things render a little larger because they can, because it is the three XL versus the smaller size, of the three AXL here. So both of the phones I have running on Google, Phi, I, absolutely love, Google, Phi, Google Phi is a great service and performs really well in the area that I live. I talked about Google Phi a couple of times so as far as service goes I think it's a great option for you to try out if you're thinking about getting one of these phones, you actually get a month free when you purchase this phone, and you can also save $100 right now when you purchase the phone as well. So I recommend checking that out.

I've got a link down in the description below for you to check that out, so that you can see what pricing is available on that Google three AXL. So let's talk about some other features. One thing that you'll notice on both of these phones is that they do have front-facing cameras, but it's a little different. This phone over here has a dual front-facing cameras and then a speaker in the middle, whereas this phone has one camera on the front and a speaker there on the bottom of the three XL, you can see, there's a front firing speakers, so we do have front firing. Stereo speakers on this phone versus this phone speakers are gonna fire out at the bottom.

I had did notice and will do a sound test in a few minutes. Here, I did notice that the sound is a little louder and a little deeper on the 3xl than it is on the 3a, but that could just be maybe my ears a little or, of course, the fact that some sound is coming out of the bottom of the phone. Both phones are gonna, have a USB type-c connectivity on the bottom for charging. This phone actually has a headphone jack, so you're actually getting a feature on the three, a that the three XL does not have. So if you're a headphone jack person, the three an is gonna, be a good bet for you, because you've got that headphone jack on the top of the phone, but the three a does not have wireless charging like the pixel three XL does so the pixel 3 XL, of course, is great pair with the pixel stand because of the wireless charging and the Google home like experience that you're going to get you're, not gonna, get that with a three a because it does not have the wireless charging so from the back of the phone.

They both look very much the same. Of course, we have that great camera that the pixel is known, for it is the same camera in both phones. Here on the back and then, of course, we have the flash. We have the fingerprint scanner on the back, where I think it should be it's a fantastic location for it, and the phone unlocks really fast. When you place your finger on it correctly, one thing that I did notice is a shooting photo and video with the 3xl seem to be more stable than it was on.

The 3a I know that there is some software and hardware stabilization going on with a 3xl and I think it may be missing a little of that on the 3a. It's still pretty steady, but it's just not as steady or didn't feel as steady to me as it was on the three XL. So there are a few differences as far as hardware goes inside these devices. Of course, the three XL has a bigger processor than the 3a. That might not be something that you really even notice, depending on the type of apps that you use, whether you game a lot and stuff like that, the 3a still has a pretty good processor inside it.

The three XL, though, is going to perform a little better. Both phones have 4 gigabytes of RAM, so you're not getting any boost there by going with the three XL over the 3a. Now, of course, both of these phones do not have expandable storage, so you need to purchase them with whatever amount of storage you think you will need, but because they are Google, pixel phones using the Google Photos app you're going to get unlimited backups of your original photos and video files for at least a couple of years. So that's something that you definitely don't have to worry about: buying extra storage so that you can store all the photos and videos you're gonna, get that backup for free. So let's take a look at the actual loudness of the speakers as if we were listening to some music using the speaker's trying to fire that directly towards us for a good listening experience.

I've got my decibel meter here. We're going to get a baseline reading of the room, and then we're going to take a recording. Of course, I'm going to have to block out the actual sound, because I don't want to get hit for a copyright strike. So let's take a baseline reading of the room, we'll call that 48. Even so, let's start out with the Pixel 3a here, so the Pixel 3a red at an 81 point six decibels and sounded okay.

Let's go ahead and do the same thing with the three XL all right. So an eighty-seven point three on the three XL a little higher. The sound also came across a bit deeper to me on the three XL I think. The speakers, of course, are gonna, be a little better quality and I would hope so for the additional price all right. So a couple of closing remarks on both of these phones now.

The last thing I wanted to mention that is missing. Of course, on the 3a is any sort of water resistance rating Google flat out just said that there isn't one I don't know if maybe they didn't spend the extra money to get it certified, or maybe it is in fact not water-resistant at all. I. Definitely don't want to be the one to test that out for the first time, but I'm sure over a little of time, we'll find out from some other people online whether the 3a has any level of water resistance or not. The battery is very, very, very slightly larger on the 3a than the pixel 3 XL, but that's not really much of a difference.

It's very, very slight difference. So what phone should you get? I think what it really comes down to is price, essentially, because both phones are absolutely fantastic phones, the 3a extreme value that you're getting out of that phone starting at 399 was 64 gigs of RAM I mean you're, just getting a fantastic phone for a very small price and then, of course, getting the savings. If you sign up for Google Phi link, it's down in the description below for that, I think that they're just really is no better phone on the market right now and that price point than the 3a. So 3xl is great. If you want a little faster performance, you want bigger storage options.

You want that dual front facing camera, which is going to give you a little better experience with the camera. I've been showing you a couple of photos here and there, but I'm going to I'm going to come back with my full review of the 3a soon. So you'll want to make sure to subscribe to the channel here for that, so that you can see more about that 3a when I get some more time to spend with it other than that I think it really comes down to price, because the value is there in that device. Of course, the pixel 3 XL still provides extreme value. If you compare it to other flagship phones, the 3xl is several hundred dollars cheaper for what you're getting then a lot of the other flagship phones that are out there.

So, regardless of whether you choose the three XL or the 3a XL or the three or the 3a you're, getting a fantastic phone, it just really comes down to the amount of money that you're spending I know that there have been phones that I've chosen for family members that are more in the budget range in the past. I usually go with another manufacturer for that, maybe the pixel three or the main pixel flagship line was a little pricey a little more than they needed. But now with the three a series of phones- that's absolutely gonna, be the new go-to phone for me to suggest to other people, I think if you're comparing you know even iPhone to Android, and you're, saying: okay, you know: I phone has the iPhone 10 R, which is kind of the more budget phone Pixel 3a is kind of the comparison there you're getting absolutely fantastic phone, but you're getting it for significantly less than they'll sell you a phone 10, R 4, so even comparing it there I think the 3a wins out completely with the price point. So that's gonna! Do it for this video? Let me know what you think down in the comments section below three XL: three AXL. What do you think?
