Google Pixel 3a Vs Google Pixel 2! (Full Comparison) (Review)

What's going on everyone welcome back to the channel once again, another Google Pixel 3 a comparison. Now this is a quick comparison that I did last time. You know this job piously. This is the bigger one, but as soon as the pixel 3, a way released, I went ahead and did a quick comparison, and this is just that full review that full comparison between the Pixel 3a and the pixel -. Now that I've owned both of these I've used, both of them and I kind of want to combine my statements and figure out which one is a better deal now, here's the thing: ok, in the used market, the pixel 2 is actually cheaper than the pixel 3/8, but that's not always like the best thing you know just because a phone is cheaper, just because the phone is more expensive, doesn't mean it's better or worse. You kind of have to keep that in mind, but do keep in mind that the pixel 2 was the flagship from Google just last year, the year before in 2017, and that was just the last generation of flagship.

So, let's go ahead and see how the Google Pixel 2 holds up against the Google Pixel, 3a and kind of see what the pros and the cons are for both these devices. Now there is a bit of difference between the sizes, so the Google Pixel 2 on the front has a 5-inch 1080p panel. It is M OLED. So that's a very dope thing. The Google Pixel 3a has a 5.6 inch OLED display and that one is 1080p as well they're, both 441 pixels per inch. So the density of the screen is going to be pretty much the same, but I will tell you that, in my opinion, I think for the price.

The Google Pixel 3a has a very, very solid display. I really see nothing wrong with it. I mean it could be better yeah for sure, but, like I, think it's a very, very good panel for what it is. However, I do think the Google Pixel to just have a little of an edge I do feel like that panel was overall better in my opinion, but it's really hard to say: I mean if the pixel tube was like a 10 out of 10. The pixel 3 is probably like a 9 and a half out of 10 here, where I'm really just nitpicking a little, and so in terms of the screen.

They're almost pretty much the same thing, maybe the pixel tubes is better, but it's really not that big of a deal. A quick thing to keep in mind, though, is that with the pixel 2 you're getting that stereo effects' speaker, because you have two front-facing speakers on the Google Pixel 2, where you don't really have that on the Google Pixel 3 a, don't have that dual speaker effect on the front, but it's really not that big of a deal have I noticed it. Not really I mean it's not that big of a deal to be honest, but I, don't really listen to too much stuff for my phone I. Don't really care about the audio quality. Usually that's from like my ear pause or, if I'm, making music, that's for my MacBook, but I do have to remember the price tag that the pixel 3 a way going for.

So I guess, that's one thing you got to keep in mind and another big thing that I have to talk about in terms of the hardware. It's just the way these phones feel in the hand. The one thing you have to keep in mind is that the Google Pixel ?, in my opinion, feels way more premium in the hand. Then the Google picks up 3a and that's actually saying a lot because I don't even think the pixel to felt that premium compared to something like a galaxy s, 9 or galaxy s say that was being released at the time or even like an iPhone 10. The Google Pixel ? definitely did not feel that premium I mean it didn't, feel cheap, but I feel like Google could have done better and with the Google picks with 3a for the price for $400 yeah.

You might think like. Oh, you know: that's the quality of the phone can be down or something it doesn't matter, but it's like men that $400 is still a lot for a phone I mean you can easily go out and do something else with that and I said this before we're like the Nexus 4 back in the day like that phone had a lot of going for QI wireless charging, which both of these phones didn't have, but QI wireless charging, a glass on the back very premium, build quality back in like 2012, whereas now we're still not getting that and that phone was pretty cheap at the time -. How are we kind of stepping away from that? It's like a budget phone has to be a budget phone like it has to be restricted in certain areas and I feel like Pixel 3a in terms of the build quality, it could have been better I've, seen better prepaid phones that were cheaper than the Pixel 3a that felt way better. So it's kind of weird I mean we look at little things like Huawei and Xiaomi, and all these phones like they're able to make such high quality phones and s such cheap prices. So hopefully Google can go ahead.

The next generation of pixel devices in the 3a at least go ahead and improve the build quality. There's no IP certification on the Google Pixel 3a, but there is IP 67 dust or water resistance on the Google Pixel -. So that is a really, really cool thing. I think the pixel 2 is a very good package in terms of a mixture of just the features and the build quality and, like I said in the used prices, it's actually cheaper than the Pixel 3a, so kind of keep that in mind as we're kind of progressing through this review. Now moving on to the software side of things.

So, as we know, both of these are on Android PI, eventually they're, both going to get Android q as well. Now the Google Pixel ?, we'll probably go another version of that, so it'll probably get Android 11, but in terms of the longevity of both of these phones, I would probably give the advantage to the Google Pixel 3a I do think that phone overall is going to last longer than the Google Pixel ? and at the end of the day I mean. Maybe that's saying a lot. Maybe it isn't, but that's kind of expected, because the cool pixel three a pretty much stands from the Google Pixel three line and that should at least last an extra year on top of the Google Pixel too so to kind of sum that up I think the Google Pixel 3/8 will last longer in terms of stock support from Google. But here's the thing just like all the other Google Pixel line, phones that I've said even the Nexus line, I've owned every single one of those phones pretty much.

The greatest thing about the Nexus line about the pixel line. Is the custom ROM community behind it, the development community for both of these phones, whether it is the 3/8 or the 2? It's going to be phenomenal, I think the Google Pixel 2 has a pretty large community, but I think the 3/8 is probably going to be better in the long run. But as of right now, you can literally get whatever Iran you want for the pixel to whether you like Android, PI, ROMs or Android, or your arms, once Android QT, full version comes out I'm sure a ton of people are going to develop so many ROMs for the pixel 2 and then even like, let's say two years down the line or three years down the line once Google Pixel 2 is unsupported. The 3 a still there that phone in terms of development community is still going to be supported. People are not going to forget about the Google Pixel ?, so if you're, ok with custom ROM on your phone and routing and all that stuff, I would recommend doing that on the Google Pixel -.

So in terms of software, he added 3 an is going to last longer in terms of stock support, but I do think. In the long term. Both these phones are only going to be you're a difference. In terms of when it's going to stop, and I feel like these phones are going to last forever in terms of third-party support, so that kind of covers up the whole entire software side of things. Let's go ahead and move on to the performance side of things so, like I said before, in that quick review, the cool pixel 2 has a Qualcomm Snapdragon, 835 chipset and outscore CPU and 4 gigs of ram with a googol pixel 3 a has a Qualcomm Snapdragon, 670 chipset and outscore CPU as well and 4 gigs of ram.

So the same amount of RAM on both of these, the GPUs are a little different between them. So we have an adrenal 540 GPU on the Google Pixel 2 in Arena 615 GPU on the Google Pixel 3 a, and this is pretty much. What I will tell you from what I've been doing right now when I use my Google Pixel ? I found it to be a very good performing phone I really had nothing wrong with it. I just pretty much did whatever I would do on a phone. My performance isn't that heavy to begin with, but I found it to be a very solid phone overall in terms of performance, whereas the Google Pixel 3 an is still a very good performing phone.

You might be surprised by me saying hi, but for the price and for everything I think the Pixel 3a is phenomenal at performance. I really see it like not being too slow in terms of the difference between both of these I'll probably give the edge to the Google Pixel too, at the end of the day and as a snapdragon 835, and even though the GPU is a little lower on that Google Pixel ? I might give the edge to the two here. But what I will tell you are between the 3a and my iPhone.10 are I. Did a speed test I found most of the time the Google Pixel 3a was beating the iPhone 10, or it was just a little slower than my galaxy s 10, and it was a little slower than my poker phone. That was kind of surprising I wasn't expecting that, but what I will tell you are I found that 3a these last couple days, I've been using it I personally own it I didn't get it for free or anything.

I have no reason to lie to you. I feel like the performance was actually better than I thought. Is it as good as like a Google Pixel three or something it's probably not but like I said before, as long as you're, not comparing the 3a against any other phones, you're, probably not going to notice it being too slow like that galaxy has ten comparison. I did was just kind of just to see how much slower it was. I knew it was slower.

Furthermore, I know it's not as good, but I wanted to see how much better of a phone that has 10 was and, to be honest, like I, could obviously get by with the Google picks of three I. Think the performance is very, very good on that phone. So, to make a long story, shorter kind of I think maybe at the end of the day the pixel two is a better performing device, but the 3a is definitely a huge, huge big contender when it comes to performance. In my opinion, now moving on to the camera sensor, so they're, both single sensors, you have a 12 point: two megapixel sensor on the Google Pixel ? and the same exact sensor, 12.2 megapixels on the Google Pixel 3a. They both can shoot 4k videos and what I'll tell you at the end of the day.

Both of these are very, very good cameras. Okay, the pixel ? when I had it was awesome. I had nothing against it at all, I liked it a lot. The Pixel 3a is the same exact story: I like the pixel 3/8 camera. A lot between both of these do I find a humongous difference, probably I mean maybe I'm, not a photographer I'm, not like huge into these things.

I, don't like talking about the cameras that off to him, but I'll. Tell you at that. But I'll tell you at the end of the day, I feel like from what Google told us with the Pixel 3a, getting almost all the same software features as the pixel 3. That's a pretty big bump right there, and even from the pixel 1. We found that most of their improvements were from the software, not necessarily having like a dual camera set up in like 30 megapixels inside it issues a very modest camera, but with software improvements and makes us much better.

When I tell you are it's probably the same story here. The Pixel 3a in my opinion, is a very solid camera, but so is a pixel ? they're, both 8 megapixel sensors on the front both can shoot 1080p videos. What I tell you is at the end of the day, I found both of these camera sensors very good I have nothing against them at all. So in terms of that, I don't feel like one is way better than the other, and that's probably where I was just in that camera sensor. Setup thing at that now: that's probably where I'll end the camera comparison right there now moving on to the battery life side of things now outside the size there Google, the Google Pixel ?, had the 27 hundred million power battery.

The Google Pixel 3/8 has a three thousand nine power battery, and this is what I'll tell you at the end of the day, I do find that the Google Pixel 3 a had better battery life than the Google Pixel ? and I mount that to two or three main things: ?, one bigger size battery on the 3a, that's kind of a given right there, not by a lot, but it's a little. ? I feel like the Google Pixel 3a is just a little under powered compared to the cool pixel ?, so kind of keep that in mind as well, not by a lot, but that could be it, but I think. The third thing is super important. When you compare a brand-new phone to an older phone, you have to keep in mind that the parts on the 3a are very, very new. There's really nothing! That's going wrong with it so far, however, with the Google Pixel ?, since this aged, you know it's been out for almost two years this year, the twenty-seven hundred million power battery inside it is not that full 2700 anymore, because batteries do degrade over time.

So, basically, what just happened was it's not at that 2700. It probably moved down to maybe like twenty-three hundred or twenty-two hundred, or something like that. So you kind of have to keep that in mind when you're paying both of these phones. What I will tell you is that I, don't think the pixel two had horrible battery life. I think it was very modest, I mean I, don't think it was the best, but the Pixel 3a I feel like it's noticeably better.

If we're comparing a brand-new pixel ? to a brand-new Pixel 3a, there might be a little more comparison. I still think. At the end of the day, the Google Pixel 3a has the better battery life over the pixel -. In my opinion, both of them like wireless charging. So that's kind of a bad thing on both parts, but that's kind of where I stand in terms of the battery life side of things now to kind of wrap things up.

What I will tell you, man is that I do think that the Google Pixel 3a is a solid phone if we're looking at brand-new device prices or whatever the Google Pixel ? when I was released, I feel like the Pixel 3a is a better value per dollar when, if we're, comparing the brand-new price for 3a ?, a brand-new price back in 2017 for Google Pixel -. So if you just wanted to hear that, if you wanted my validation, the pixel 3a, in my opinion, is a better phone for the price brand-new prices right. There's nothing wrong with it. The build quality- if you can get over that, then it's fine, but here's the thing the Google Pixel ? since 2017 has gone down in prices in right now. How the Google, picks or ? is actually less than the Google Pixel 3a on Amazon, so you can get a Pixel 3a for less than I.

Think three hundred and fifty dollars versus the four hundred dollar price tag on the Pixel 3a. So what I'll tell you are if you need a brand-new device, go for the Pixel 3a, but if you can cope with having a little of a smaller screen by getting so many more features out of a phone I do think maybe the Google Pixel ? might be a better deal than the Google Pixel 3a, that's kind of my opinion on it. Of course, I could be wrong, but that's just my opinion. That's how I feel there's definitely quirks on the pixel ?, but I do think. Maybe at the end of the day it could be a better deal than the Pixel 3a.

So if you want to pick up a cool pixel ?, the first link down in the description I'll find the cheapest one at Amazon, I'll link it straight down there, so you guys can go ahead and buy it from there every single sale that goes through that link a little of that revenue comes back to the channel.
