Google Pixel 3 XL Unboxing + First Impressions!

- Y'all, this phone was a lot harder to find than I anticipated, I didn't pre order it and after hunting for a Pixel 3 XL, I was finally able to acquire one, so let's get on into this unboxing. (hip hop music) Alright so funny story before we jump into this. I really feel like Google kinda set us up a little bit because if you don't know, this phone comes in three color options. Not Pink, Just Black, and Clearly White. And I told the rep that I wanted the Google Pixel 3 XL Not Pink and he was like, alright so you want black or white? And I'm like, no, Not Pink. And he's like, alright black or white? And I'm like, Not Pink, that's the color.

He was like, alright. And he just left and then another guy ended up breaking it down, and was like, the reason why he was getting confused is because you're saying Not Pink. So he's thinking that you want black or white. And I'm like, Google set us up man. And then when I did find a 3 XL, and I was asking the rep what color options they had, he said they had Just Black and I'm like, so only black.

He's like, yeah, just black. It's just one of those things where it can be a little confusing when you're trying to- Lord, it would help if I open the other side. But let's go ahead and dive and get into this box. So here is the Pixel 3 XL, I want to go ahead and unbox this, I'll get to the rest of the stuff. I wanna see what this phone looks like and feels like in hand before I do anything else.

Ooh, I like the way it feels in hand, it has an all glass back with the fingerprint reader, I have the two tone option of the Just Black colorway. But I like the way it feels, it still feels a little slippery, but not as slippery as other glass phones because it has a soft touch glass. So yeah, I like this, feels good. Now, I'm gonna power this on so that this can be getting itself together as we go through the box. Inside here, some paperwork and our SIM tray ejector.

We also have the Pixel USB-C earbuds, which look like they'd be comfortable but they plug into the phone via the USB-C charging port. And then I also have a USB-C to USB-C charging cable and a USB-C to 3.5mm headphone adapter so that you can still use this with the aux cord or regular headphones and you have the USB-C to USB adapter here. So yeah, they pretty much give you everything that you need and last but certainly not least, we have the 18 watt wall adapter. This is really nice that it comes with the fast charging brick, because the phone has not only wireless charging, but fast charging capabilities and you don't have to spend extra money to take advantage of the fast charging option, which makes you really feel like you're getting more of your money's worth. Wireless charging option, you're on your own (chuckles).

So let's this stuff out of the way and take a closer look at the Pixel. Alright, so we have here a 6.5 inch display, we also have two front facing speakers, the power button on the right hand side, along with your volume button. And then your USB-C charging port at the bottom. And then in terms of the camera on the back, you have one lens, and that's 12 megapixels and on the front, you have two lenses, one which is a wide angle, and I wanna say the lens on the front facing camera is eight megapixels. Alright so, lemme get this set up.

And while it sets up, I'ma go ahead and unbox this case too because I've heard the Pixel 3 scratches easily and I don't want that to happen to me and I'm not tryna test out how easily it scratches. So I got the charcoal case, I'm not sure if that's what it's called but that's what I'm calling it, with the mint green button. Go ahead and pop this in. Alright so now let me go ahead and hit next. Typing on it feels good.

And yes, I'ma address the elephant in the room the notch. I've heard so much discussion around it, that I even debated if I wanted to talk about it because I think it's been talked about enough. But it is big but it's nothing that's gonna stop me from using the phone, maybe as I continue to use it more, I'll of course notice areas where it's annoying, but I'll say right now, immediate thoughts of it, it's visible but it's not distracting, not yet at least. So there are some new features on the Pixel 3 and actually the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL are pretty much identical, with of course the exception that they differ in size and they also differ in the battery capacity, as the Pixel XL of course, has a bigger battery. Now powering this is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 Processor.

Coupled along with four gigs of RAM and then there's some features on this that I'm really excited to test out especially the Call Screen feature where Google assistant will answer your phone and screen your calls, which is really for telemarketers especially, so if they call you, you don't want to answer, and you'd rather have your assistant take over the call, you can actually see the transcript of the conversation that is being had and choose statements for Google Assistant to ask the person, so I can already see this being used maliciously against friends, at least I'm going to probably do that just to test it out and see how it works. There's also another feature up here called TopShot that I'm really looking forward to testing out, which is going to take a live photo and then choose the best frame as the actual picture. So if you're trying to take a picture and you're concerned about possibly missing the moment, TopShot seems like the feature to utilize during that time. And I'm gonna be testing that in my camera comparison video because you know I'ma put this up against the iPhone and probably the Galaxy Note 9, so stay tuned for that. There's also another feature in here that I really like called Shhh.

So that if you're out or really home, anywhere and you turn your phone face down, it will silence all notifications so that's gonna help keep you more in the moment, instead of out of the moment on your phone. And then the last feature that I'm really excited about testing out, and of course, there are more, is this feature known as Wind Down, I think it's called. So you can basically tell Google Assistant to wind down, and it will in turn put your phone in do not disturb and also change the color scale to gray scale, which is probably gonna be a godsend during those late nights when you're having trouble detaching from your phone because you can't sleep. But yeah, I'm excited to test this out, I really love the layout of just the Pixel in general. It doesn't even have anything to do with the Pixel 3, just the Pixel.

Because especially for those of you out there, myself included, who are also iPhone users, and you like the simplicity of that, you can kind of get that vibe on the Pixel so you get that stock Android experience, which is really unmatched, I love it. Let me test out this camera real quick, let me take a selfie. So you don't see the blur happening in camera, you see it after you take the photo, that's something to also reference here, but I wouldn't be concerned if it's going to actually blur it or not because I mean, come on, look at that. It is perfect. It makes you wanna take a selfie.

(camera shutter clicks) But yeah, honestly, I'm on my way out and I'm gonna be taking this with me to test out the camera while I'm out tonight. I'm excited to pop my SIM into this phone. You can follow me on Instagram and Twitter to get some of my thoughts before the review but if you enjoy this video and you want some more content you can show some love by hitting that thumbs up button below and my face somewhere along the video will allow you to instantly subscribe or you can check out another video as it should be up there somewhere as well.
