Google Pixel 2 Review

What's up guys Nico here- and this is the pixel to review right, so I'm gonna just start off by stating the absolute obvious. This is a great phone. The problem is all the question that this video is going to answer, for you is whether this phone is better than the flagships out there like the pixel to excel or the iPhone 10, the phone's got decent hardware. It's got great software greater AI and those three things are something that Google will really push in a couple of weeks ago when they launched the phone at their event, they kept going over the same thing over and over again hardware, software and AI air good. Are those three things exactly let's get into it. First, let's start with the hardware, so this pixel and the first thing that stands out to a lot of people- and it's been heavily criticized about it's the fact, though, it's got bezels big bezels on the top and the bottom of the display.

Now in person, I, don't think these are as bad as people are making them out to be. It's not like its empty space. They do house the stereo speakers and ask for those stereo speakers. They do get really loud, and they do outperform any of the competition who just have single speakers. The note 8 would be an example of that.

No, as for the way, the phone feels in the hand, it is a well-built phone. It's got that texture on the back. That makes it less slippery compared to all the phones, especially phones, that are completely made out of glass. One of the advantages of this year's design compared to last year is the fact that this phone is no water resistant. It is on the ip67 compared to what you see on the iPhone now, which is ip68, but if you're going to take it out in the rain or if you accidentally drop it in some water, you should be covered with the ip67 rating that this phone does have.

The phone also has a decent battery life. You can get through a one working day quite easily with this is a better battery than the note 8 which I have been using as well. The now take barely got me through a whole day with heavy usage, but with this phone I can get through a day quite easily and if I do need to top up, you do get that seven hours of battery from a 15-minute chart and, as I said in the unboxing, that does come in handy now. It's for the screen, the pixel to excel. That screen has had a lot of coverage over the past couple of weeks, and it hasn't all been good now this fan screen isn't too bad.

It's not note eight quality. Where you look at the screen, and you're like whoa, it's a bit more mm. It's not bad, but it's not amazing but, like you say, is only a 1080p display. The font size is quite small. You can get away with using this screen.

It's not got the burning issues that the pixel to Excel has at least not for now and to be fair. If there's one part of the pixel lineup this year, that's letting Google down in ease of the display. If you are thinking about buying one of these phones, they'll just go into the store check out the display for yourself, if you like it, if you can put up with it, if you don't think it's that bad then buy the phone. If you look at the display, and you think it's a horrible competitor than I'll take which it's not, but if that was your opinion, then maybe just choose another phone, and the last bit of hardware that I want to talk about is the camera. Now this really is where the pixel shines.

The camera is great on this phone. It works well in low light. It's got great dynamic range and the portrait mode on this phone, even though it only has one lens, is excellent. Outdoors for a saying, the portrait mode on this phone is better than what it is on the iPhone. As for the front facing camera, that's great as well.

That also lets you take portraits it's not as good as the rear facing camera, but for a front facing camera. It's not too bad at all and from pictures that I've seen of the iPhone tends front face in portrait mode or do thinner. The pixel has the edge there as well. If you're someone who's buying a phone purely based on getting the best camera, they come from a smartphone. This phone is going to be perfect for you so moving on to software.

This is another place where the pixel really does shine. A lot of people who are thinking about buying a pixel are buying it. For this reason, at the box it's running Android Oreo and, let's just say it's one of these smoothest phones out there Google have done an excellent job with Android and I, wouldn't say: they've caught up to iOS I'd, say they've surpassed iOS, it's that good. Now, don't get me wrong. This phone does have the odd glitch here and there it's not perfect, but it's a lot better than what Android used to be, and it's a lot better than what we've been seeing on iOS lately.

Hopefully, Apple will sort that out we'll have to wait and see. I haven't used an iPhone 10 year. I will be getting my hands on one on Friday and doing a video on that so obviously subscribe for that, but I'll see what I always eleven looks like and how it runs on the iPhone 10 and letting you guys know if it's any better than what I always 11 is now back to the pics. Although if you look at the software on this phone, if you look around the phone's user interface, you can see that everything is clean. Everything's smooth.

It really is a well-designed OS Google of even built in the new, no plain feature on the Google Pixel. So if you're out and about- and you hear a song being played, or the phone hears the song being played, it will pick up what that song is and who's singing it and display it on the lock screen on your phone or in the notification of product. This works quite well. It picks it up most of the time, but it does only refresh itself every 60 seconds to save battery life. So there are times when you'll be waiting a while to see what the song actually is called I.

Do love the fact that it works without having to use internet, though it'll work in airplane mode, and you've got no data at all, so yeah I do think this is a good feature, but as for the software, I really do recommend. If you haven't used Android oriole on the pixel go into the store and try it because you will be surprised at how smoothly actually runs so finally getting on to AI. This is where the pixel is best-in-class. Nothing even comes close. Google Assistant is a million times better than more series.

It's a lot better than what Bigamy is, and you can really tell when you use this phone. So, let's start off by how you actually access the Google Assistant. There are three different ways on this phone: if you can either say what you would normally say: okay, Google just gonna, make sure and set it off and near my phone's, no okay, you can hold down the home button, or you can squeeze the phone now a lot of people when they first heard about this feature being able to squeeze the phone. They thought like a bit of a gimmick to cool feature, but they won't use it that much I can tell you that, after using this phone for a week, the squeeze feature on this becomes second nature. When I launched Google Assistant I'm constantly launching it, while squeezing the phone I do think it is hands-down the best way to launch it on the phone.

The fact that you can do it in the lock screen as well just makes it even better. If anything, I'd say that the squeeze feature has made me use, Google Assistant, even more than I, would do normally. As for when I am using it Google. Pretty much gets everything correct you can talk. Naturally, it picks up everything.

There is saying the majority of the time, and- and it is just miles better than the competition along with Google Assistant pixel users are getting Google Lens as well exclusively. Google Lens is not there, yet it is still in development. Google have said, as much, and they've said that it's not great right now, it's not perfect, but it will get better, and you can tell that it's not perfect. Right now, sometimes it will pick things up. Sometimes it will give you brief descriptions of what something is like if you're pointed towards a watch, it'll tell you that it's a watch, but maybe not what specific watch it is.

It really is something that right now works better when this text in the image that you're using and that's another thing as well, it will only work if you take a picture of something and then use Google Lens over time, though I think Google are wanting to implement it into the Google Assistant, so you can just literally point your phone at something, and it will give you information on it. So yet around up, Google Lens is decent. It's a cool idea, a cool concept- it's not there yet, but when it is there and when Google have sorted it out properly, I do think it could be a perfect feature. So yeah, that's pretty much. What I wanted to talk about Google Pixel to, let me know down in the comments.

What do you think about the phone? Do you think it's a decent phone with your other of the XL? Would you risk buying the XL, even though you're getting the burning issues and all the other issues that are going on with that display me personally I like this farm, a lot do I think it's better than the Google Pixel to excel no I think the pixel to Excel is a better phone? It's a better designed phone I would probably put up with the display, but 850 dollars. Do you really want to be putting up with a display? Not really you want to have the best of everything, so it is really a difficult decision. If it was up to me like I said- and it was my choice- I'd go out and spend the extra money and get the pixel to Excel, but if you're just somebody who's looking for the best Android experience that they can get in a smaller, cheaper phone, then this phone, the pixel 2- is a great phone to buy anyway guys that about wraps it up. If you enjoyed this video, please do me a favor smash that thumbs up button and if you're feeling really awesome, they're subscribed one's up there so hit that and as always I'll catch you guys in the next one.
