Galaxy Z Flip Review & Z Flip 5G Thoughts!

Hey guys, so we have a review here. The Galaxy Z flip now there's a ton of stuff unique about this phone, both good and bad, and I'll, discuss what I like about it. First, okay. So to start, this is the best phone for video calls. Now pretty often when I do video chat with someone we're also playing a video game so with other flat phones, I'd often just wait a phone fight on a table, and I would need to actually pick up the phone in order to see them. On the other hand, with this phone, I can of course fold it upright when doing that you're only getting half the screen, but it works extremely well.

This is a big selling point if you often use video chat and don't always want to hold the phone up to your face. Next, the design is extremely nostalgic and although it loses so much luster as time goes by, I still appreciate its uniqueness months later. This is coming from someone who grew up with the Game Boy advance SP and the Motorola flip phones, so for younger people didn't have those it might not have the same effect. This reminds me a ton of the game. Boy advances p and there are ways to play it in that style.

Now I will say a plane: slowly, folded is definitely not better, especially because you don't have physical buttons, but it is still pretty fun. The form factor is also great for carrying around it's really easy to put in your pocket, and it's definitely about smaller than our flagships. Now you're going to get a lot of attention when using this, which could be a good or bad thing, depending on your personality, so I've been asked several times at random people on the streets if they could try it. Fortunately they were just curious, but I was always slightly nervous that they could run off of it. One more thing I really like is that the folding aspect is extremely satisfying, especially when you're in the phone call all right, yeah I'll talk to you later next, on to what I don't like.

First, you're gonna need to be extremely cautious when using the phone, so the glass cover in my rear cameras, cracked, pretty easily, and I've seen other people online with the same exact problem. This is only the second time the glass broke on any of my phones and sadly, it impacts the main camera. So I do need to get it fixed. It also doesn't appear to be an easy or cheap fix. I think what happened is when I closed the phone one time I pressed too hard on the camera lens, and then it broke because I haven't dropped it or have not done anything else to cause this.

The screen picks up scratches and fingerprints pretty easily and, of course, there's a crease in the middle. It doesn't have the same, secure feeling as hard glass displays, because it's not one there's also always a chance. Your phone will eventually break when folding or unfolding it that should take around five years or two hundred thousand folds according to Samsung, though sometimes I've found it will take about less time than that so yeah. In short, you have to be a lot more careful with this phone and once the wow factor starts wearing off, that becomes an inconvenience also. I did have a software bug which displayed the wrong quack time.

I discussed this more in a previous video, but since it's been resolved now I won't get into it. For the most part, the software does work well, but with this phone I still come across smaller glitches than I do with other phones. This phone really changed my use habits, so I'm actually a lot less likely to use it for a few reasons. First, the one-inch display on the front doesn't do much besides showing the time and basic notifications you're always going to need to open it up to get more information. This is very different from other Samsung, which I've always on displays and is one area where the motor razor did a much better job.

Think about how many times you check your phone for the average American it's 96 times a day now think about anytime. You want to do that. You need to unfold it. That makes the phone a lot less convenient, and for that reason I don't use it as much now. I think a lot of people actually could use a phone west, but there are definitely better ways to do that, such as, of course, using screen time.

It's also not that easy to open it one-handed. I found this a lot easier using two hands now that said, when I folded, I can use one hand, but with some other reviewers they can't, so it does vary by person. Next, the specs are mostly outdated by a year or more. It is last year's, snapdragon, 855, plus and 8 gigabytes of ram, which is half the ram of the latest s20 ultra and 50 less than the s10 plus. The storage is a quarter terabyte, which is more than enough for most, but you don't have micro SD card support, unlike all of Samsung's other flagships.

The phone also doesn't have a headphone jack, which unfortunately, is the case for all of Samsung's recent flagships. Okay, so now I'll show you guys the cameras, so this is, of course, the front camera. Now this is decent, but the lens is pretty small, and it is struggling built. The lighting now, if you really want to you, can take selfies with the phone folded but honestly guys the uh, the viewfinder so small on that it's not worth it so right now, of course, I have the phone open. Okay, so, let's head outside I'll, show you guys the rear cameras next, all right guys, so we have a quick test here of the rear camera.

Now this is at full HD, 60 fps, but for some reason you can't do the wide angle at 60fps. So I'll show you guys that at 30fps in a few but yeah I mean it works pretty easily, just not quite as good as the 2020 flagships, and you're. Also, not getting. Those third and fourth cameras, like a lot of other phones, have okay, so now shaded wide angle, okay, so now in 30, fps mode and switching to the wide I'll just show you guys to zoom so yeah I mean you're, not getting a tow photo. So it's not quite as good.

The cameras are pretty good, but they're still updated by flagship standards. You only have two on the back one on the front, which are the same as the s10 series, but the setup of the s10 plus is better. Since that is more cameras. The z-flip also lacks some other features, including 5g. The phone also only has one speaker end of time.

No, copyright and yeah. I mean again guys its decent quality, but not the best. Instead of the more futuristic and display fingerprint. This one is on the side, but I will say it's actually more reliable, so I don't mind that the worst spec of all is the battery, which is only 3300 capacity, though it does have wireless charging now most days the battery will get before the end of the day, but that said, it's still one of the worst batteries I've tested in years. Of course, all this is relative.

The reason the specs aren't good by 2020 flagship standards is because of the small form. Samsung did a much better job than Motorola did with the racer and in a year or two they should be able to cram much better specs in this size of phone. The biggest downside is the price, so the phone retails for nearly 400 bucks. But if you take out the folding aspect, then the phone should retail for half that or even less you can pick up a SM plus for 650 new, so in other words you're paying more than double the price of the s10 plus for one thing, and that's, of course the folding. Well, there are some things I really like about this phone, including voting for video chat and nostalgia.

Overall, I can't recommend it doesn't get me wrong. It's still a solid phone, but you're paying a major early adopter fee, so the price is way too high. The features you're getting just don't justify the price point unless you're seeming nostalgic for this type of phone. If you still want to get affordable, though I'd definitely say to wait, because virtually every aspect from the battery wave to the front display to the camera setup should be a lot better in future z-flips, all right guys, so Samsung's announced an upgraded z-pipe, which is called the Galaxy Z, flip 5g. Now, there's not that many changes for it.

So there are three big differences, so one of those 5g which is, of course a nice upgrade number two is you have to wait, a snapdragon which again nice upgrade and number three, it's 70 dollars more expensive, and they also have not dropped the price of the original. So, honestly guys, this is a bit disappointing. It's nice that it's going to be a bit faster, but for the most part guys this is not addressing the main concerns I have with it and if anything, it's just uh. You know it's increasing my biggest concern the price point. So I want to say this guys.

I mean for 70 extra bucks. It seems like a better deal um, if you're choosing between them, then I say: go for the 5g version, but that said, I would still not recommend diva version. We might still be a year or two off from a better z-flip, alright, guys so be sure to check out my comparison versus motor and as always, thanks for watching.
