OnePlus 7 vs Pixel 3a Camera Comparison - Which Phone Has the Better Cameras? By Gadgets 360

The 1 plus 7, is here and just like last year, 1 plus is using this device to raise the expectations bar from a mid-range fractured device. Now part of the refresh also includes a brand new 48 megapixel primary sensor, which replaces the 16 megapixel primary camera on the 1 plus 60. The 1 plus 7 also has a brand-new high megapixel depth sensor and an upgraded 16 megapixel Sony IMF 471 selfie camera. So in a nutshell, at least on paper, the 1 plus 7 promises better camera performance than its predecessor, but how does it compare to Google's new budget camera king, the Pixel 3a starts at a price of thirty-nine thousand nine hundred ninety-nine rupees, and while it's not directly comparable to the one plus seven in terms of features and specifications or even price for that matter, there's no denying the fact that it's currently be camera phone to beat in the mid-range space. So if cameras are gonna, be your top priority in your next smartphone purchase. Should you pick the one plus seven or pay the extra money and get the Google Pixel 3a? So the first to know when we have a brand-new video now inner force landscape tests, both phones deliver similar color characteristics, the one plus seven bumps of the exposure, a bit more for a slightly brighter dimension. Now, looking at 100% crop, we can see that the text on the sign boards are clearly legible in both photos and the exposure on the white pillars are handled well to the pixel three. It does a slightly better job at sharpening the image, but only just looking at the two towers looming in the background. Once again, both phones manage very good detail. You also didn't find any visible noise on the sides of the frame, so we will call this round a tie in a second test.

We have a wider shot of city skyline and plenty of very textures and colors. One plus seven once again has a slightly brighter photo but ends up glowing or the whites of it. Looking at the buildings in the distance, the one plus seven actually produces slightly better sharpness compared to the Pixel 3a. However, when we look at the objects that are not a direct focus, which is the trains in the yard, it's a Pixel 3a which produces better details. It's a close call, and we'd have to call this round a tie as well now so far both phones have been neck and neck, but the differences become very apparent in our close-up tests.

The OnePlus seven has a more appealing, color tone here in this first test, where, as a pixel, 3d falls to its characteristic cooler tone. However, in terms of sheer detail and color accuracy, there's no beating the Pixel 3a, even without zooming, in it's very apparent that the Pixel 3a has a sharper and better defined macro shot. The edges of the flower have excellent sharpness and definition in a second test. You once again, don't have to be an expert to tell you. The pixel 3 has a better shot it handles exposure are a lot better.

Black levels are very good and the sharpness of the cat's eye is unmatched in comparison. The OnePlus 7 has a hazy image. The blacks look, a little murky and details on a subject is a little soft when shooting portraits in auto mode. Both phones do a good job with skin tones. The 1 + 7 smoothens out the skin, a bit ?, which is not necessarily a bad thing, especially if you want to get rid of some ? in blemishes.

The color and texture on our subjects. T-Shirt is also handled very well ? in both photos. However, it's a very different story when shooting in portrait mode now both ones do a good job at edge detection, which is more commendable for the pixel 3/8, which actually doesn't have the luxury of a secondary depth. Sensor colors are equally vivid and saturation is good too, but looking at a subject, the 1 + 7 apply some aggressive smoothening, which takes away some depth from the photo. We had to take a step back to compose a similar shot with a Pixel 3a, since it has a 2x digital zoom in this mode.

The end result is a more vivid shot with a better sense of separation of a subject from the background, while some might prefer the software image of the 1 plus 7 we'd pick the Pixel 3a for its more dramatic look now using portrait mode on objects is a challenging exercise on the 1 + 7, it's very picky about how and where you need to place the phone, but it will successfully apply the background blur. You can't adjust the level of blur before or even after, you've taken the shot like you can in post on the Pixel 3a edge detection is also a bit of a hit or miss on the 1 + 7. We did manage to get one usable shot, but even here the base of this miniature tree is blurred out, and the details are a little soft. The Pixel 3a, on the other hand, gives you a more striking image, although it does mess up the edges slightly on the top. However, our subject is sharp and in focus here in low-light.

Both phones do a decent job in exposing the first scene. The pixel 3 has a slightly brighter image which lets you clearly see the plants and the left of the frame in the background, 1 plus 7 does a slightly better job with colors, though especially the yellows, which has a hint of green in the short captured by the pixel 3 year. Noise is suppressed well 2 on both forms with fewer light sources in a second scene. The 1 plus 7 has a slightly brighter image with lesser noise in the sky, on the side of the frame, level of detail is equally average on both phones, which is noticeable with 100% crop, even though both phones are pretty close in terms of image. Quality we'd go with a 1 + 7 here for having slightly lesser noise in a more close-up shot with incandescent lighting around our subject.

Both smartphones managed to capture good details, but the one till 7 once again gets the colors a bit more accurately. Where is the pixel 3? It tends to add a bit of a greenish hue to the paint job in a matter test. The Pixel 3a pulls ahead a bit as it captures better detail. The 1 + 7 ends up shooting a slightly softer image in comparison. Both phones are special night modes which capture multiple shots and varying exposures in order to get a brighter shot with better detail.

Google calls is feature night sight, while OnePlus calls it nights cape when shooting smaller objects in extreme low-light. The pixel 3 is slaying it with excellent detail and punchy colors. In fact, it's nearly possible to tell that this was shot with barely any ambient light around the OnePlus Evan fails to capture finer detail and the red color is completely off now. Pixel phones have always been grateful. Selfie shooters every three is no exception.

In our first test. The pixel three does a very good job of metering. The image as everything is properly exposed. We love the fact that it could also capture equally good detail at the objects in the background and exposes a sky very well. The Pixel 3a has a comparatively weaker one, but it also has an ace of its sleeve, which is nitrite for the selfie camera.

With this, the Pixel 3a captures a well-lit selfie with very good colors and detail even for objects way in the background, with portrait mode turned on for the front camera or the Pixel 3a falters, a bit when it comes to blurring or the right edges. On the other hand, it does have a sharper and more vivid image. However, since this is a portrait test, we have to give it this round to the 1 plus 7. Neither of the phones have optical zoom lenses, but that doesn't really stop people from using digital zoom, which is why we thought it'd be a good idea to see which of the two phones does a better job at digital zoom, the Zoom slider set to 2x on both phones. We already see the 1 plus 7 begin to struggle a bit with detail and noise, comparing similar paths on both photos.

The pixel 3 maintains a clearer image with good detail compared to the 1 plus 7. Now in maximum zoom level on both phones, the pixel 3, a still maintains very good detail and there's very little to no noise details and to fall apart very badly on the 1 plus 7 and mild. Rain is evident everywhere now that we recommend using extreme level of digital zoom, but it's nice to know that the pixel 3 a can still deliver an usable shot in the event. You absolutely need to use it with panoramas. Both phones do a decent job of stretching the photos together.

However, the pixel 3 a captures a better looking shot and an even manage to properly expose the sky on the right better. Compare to the 1 + 7 on both the phones can shoot.4K video, however, the 1 plus 7 has a 10-minute restriction for clip when shooting at 30fps, whereas Google Pixel 3a doesn't have any such restriction. On the other hand, the 1 plus 7 can shoot 4k at 60fps, whereas a Google Pixel 3a here not for this test. We stuck to 4k at 30fps, and we took a sample in day and at night now, India night civilization is very good across both phones, but the color tone on the 1 plus 7 is very warm, causing the colors to look a bit exaggerated. The pixel 3 has more restrained colors in comparison, which looks a little better at night.

The warmer color tone on 1 + 7 works in his favor, as a color from the pixel looks a bit muted. However, the distortion caused due to electronic stabilization is a lot more severe on 1 + 7, making the footage a bit unusable if you're in motion. Colors had a bit dial down on the 1 + 7, which is actually a good thing, and it also has high T better audio compared to the pixel 3. Here at night, the Pixel 3a pulls ahead once again, as it captures a sharper and more detailed footage. The distortion from stabilization on the 1 + 7 is a bit less at this resolution, but a still present. Nonetheless, the focus also tends to be a little softer compared to the pixel 3 here, the 1 + Evans primary camera shows promise for a main issue with it is consistency. The autofocus system also needs a bit more work, as even when shooting close-ups on the good light, we often found our shots to be a little soft and lacking in detail.

A portrait mode is also a bit of a hit or miss, especially when shooting objects and the phone also falters, when shooting 4k video, especially in daylight, where colors are widely exaggerated and at night you get some nasty motion artifacts. However, it's not all bad landscapes shot during the day and at night have very good detail. Portraits of people are also handled pretty well, and we actually found the phone to manage colors pretty accurately compared to the pixels BA, especially when shooting at night. However, as an all-rounder, the Google Pixel 3 is the camera phone we'd pick under 40,000 rupees, as it simply has a more dependable set of cameras, now sure it has its share of quirks and in some low-light tests it did back behind the 1 plus 7, but it also won the majority of her tests in this comparison. Now it does come at a slightly steep premium compared to the 1 plus 7.
