Galaxy A71 Review - All about the DISPLAY?

Hi guys its Frankie from Frankie tank good to see you guys again, and I'm here on Super Bowl Monday in Hong Kong, to give you my full review of the galaxy. A 71 now I've been using this phone for about three days now, and it's been a terrific device but want to go down the laundry list, design, display performance, audio tests, share some camera samples, and we'll play some pub G as well, and I want to answer. The question: is this phone more than just a great display? Is there more to this phone than meets the eye and just to share the details once again of the version I got? It is the 8gb 128 gigs of storage version, Prize crush pink, and this is the global version. The Hong Kong version and I got this for three thousand six hundred Hong Kong dollars so in that kind of 450, US dollar price range. So let's go down this list and see is this phone more than just a display? Let's get started design, 179 grams 7.7 millimeters in thickness. So this is one of the thinner and lighter phones that I've tested so far this year.

A big reason for that is because of the build quality. This phone is made of plastic and, while I'm generally unforgiving in this price point I will say at least the build quality is solid for a plastic phone and yes, you do have the 3.5 millimeter headphone jack USB, see your speaker's your volume, rocker and power button mic whole your SIM tray, and you can kind of notice on the edge there. There are perfect tolerances on this device. There's no creaking whatsoever, and, yes, you do have plastic on the back as well. I would have liked to see at least some sort of Gorilla Glass, though on the back of this I know chamois and Realme if they do deliver plastic on the edge they at least put glass on the back.

So yes, it is a plastic phone, but look at this gorgeous pink color. It still looks really nice, and I don't mind this rectangular cutout for the cameras. So, yes, it is plastic, but it's all about. What's on the front that in terms of design- and that is this gorgeous display, and we'll get into that for a second, but what surrounds the display are really tiny, bezels bottom and at the top, so overall design I think could be better because of the plastic build, but I think it's still a well-made phone and at 180 grams is kind of bucking. The trend of a lot of these 200 plus gram- smartphones, we're seeing now in 2020, but if the design is a bit of a disappointment, the display is completely the opposite.

With a six point, seven inch 1080 by two thousand four hundred pixels 20 by 9 aspect ratio with a 393 PPI. This display is amazing. Honestly it is one of the nicest AMOLED panels, I've seen on a phone this year and in its price point, I think it is unmatched. Now the question has come up, would I pick refresh rate over AMOLED or screen technology? The answer is I would rather have this 60 Hertz AMOLED display over a 120 Hertz LCD. Now the sweet spot for me is definitely the 90 Hertz AMOLED display on the Realme x2 Pro, and that is why I picked this phone up again.

I think it just strikes the perfect balance in terms of display technology, but the panel on this phone is just not to the level of the panel on the 71. This thing is standout is definitely the highlight feature of this phone. Is this phone more than just this incredible display? Well, let's get to the next sections and find out and here's YouTube playback on the Galaxy, a 71. Yes, the punch hole is there but honestly for me, it is a non-issue, and I am more looking at these gorgeous colors. In this six point, seven inch display a beautiful, completely immersive experience and I think is one of the highlights of just content, consumption and an enjoyable viewing experience on this galaxy, a 71.

Well, one thing that is great about this global galaxy: a 71 is security level l1 for Wide vine CDM. We have HD Netflix capability out of the box, and that is one of the nice things about Samsung, since they are such a global brand, their phones here in Hong, Kong, and anywhere you get them, will likely have this certification, while the other and China versions of phones that I test generally do not. So that is one plus point here for the Samsung crew and talking about performance. We have the ante to scores right here for the Galaxy, a 71 running a Snapdragon 730 with the Adrian 618, eight gigs of RAM and 128 gigs of storage. This is kind of in line with the typical score we see from this kind of me 90 real me, x2 phones, now those the x2 in this case and the red meat cave 30, for example, have the 730 G.

This is the regular 730, which is a little less powerful, but it is very negligible in terms of the difference, if you guys think that the 730 is a low-end processor, you are very much mistaken. The 730 is still a great processor. Sham mi was one of the first to come out with them with the 90 last year and I still think coming into 2020. It is still a solid chipset to use guys. This is no Snapdragon 625.

Ok, this is a 730, and it will perform admirably for at least the next year or two. So yes, it's not the Snapdragon 865 or the 765. It is not a bad chipset guys. The Men 10 Pro has the same chipset and yes offers a bit more in terms of camera and build quality, but this phone offers a terrific display, the Samsung branding, but also decent performance, very solid performance in my opinion- and we can't talk about performance without talking about the software, so we do have one UI 2.0 here on this phone, which means it is the version running on Android, 10-1, UI version to point out there you see, and the one thing I will mention this software other than being fast and fluid is the new gestures. So now in 1, UI 2, we have what are really more like the kind of gestures you see from iPhone and from a lot of these other manufacturers like color OS.

You just have a very simplified gesture system and to quickly show you here we are now using full screen gestures on the Galaxy a7 t1, which are different from the ones previously that I didn't like so much these swipe from the bottom gestures. We have a now much more basic swipe from the sides and bar, and this allows you to just kind of stop here, to bring up multitasking to swipe up, to go home and also to be able to swipe from the left and right to kind of go back, so we're seeing a much more uniform gesture based navigation here from Samsung and I, for one am very happy that they have done this change and talking about battery life, we have a four thousand five hundred mill ampere capacity on this Galaxy. A seventy-one and I've had a screen on time average of around six hours and 16 minutes. I do think, though this will score higher and I. Will be doing more testing on the battery of this phone? One of the positives L of the galaxy a 71 is that it does now include a twenty-five watt fast charger in the Box I.

Don't think the battery is the highlight of this phone down, and you can kind of tell in terms of performance battery build quality. Everything is pretty good, but it's not amazing and it's really the display so far. That is the one highlight feature: let's see if the audio and cameras are any different and now to answer the question: how is the fingerprint scanner on this phone? Well, we know the previous galaxy a seventy fingerprint scanner was not good. In fact, it was very slow and just did not perform well always missing matches. This has been an improvement on this phone just to sleep here.

To do it there we go. Let me show you guys again from the display being on. Let's do it again, so it isn't the fastest fingerprint scanner, but I would say it is much improved there. We go again well, not being the fastest fingerprint scanner. It is definitely quite a bit faster now is it as fast as the ones? We see these optical fingerprint scanners on the Realme x2 Pro.

Definitely not, in fact, I would say this is one of the fastest fingerprint scanners still on the market. But remember these are optical, fingerprint scanners. This is ultrasonic, that's two, both at the same time quite a bit slower cell. Then the Realme x2 pros, but it is not a deal-breaker at this point guys previously, the 70 fingerprint scanner was a deal-breaker, and now it is not now I can comfortably use this and yes, it isn't the fastest one, but it is much improved. So I will take that over the previous, a 70 fingerprint scanner any day of the week and now for some Frank Tech music, Lounger I'm gonna the mic down.

Let's have a listen, what can I say so from a single bottom firing? Speaker? Yes, a 3.5, millimeter headphone jack is a positive, but I would have liked to see dual speakers on this phone. Other phones are doing dual speakers at this price point. Real me, x2, Pro, included and I. Think the audio quality is good, but it's nothing special. It isn't anything great, it's not as good as the ones on the Galaxy Note, n series, so I would say once again another aspect of this phone.

That is good but isn't great. It isn't like stand out the audio on the galaxy, a 71 and talking about the cameras. We have a 64, megapixel Samsung GW, one main sensor, F 1.8, then we have a 12 megapixel ultra-wide 5 megapixel wide and a 5 megapixel depth sensor. Now that extra wide camera is the dedicated macro camera. So what is this sensor that we're missing? Here? We don't have a telephoto on this galaxy, a 71.

You can decide whether a macro camera is more important to you than a telephone. I personally would rather have the telephoto, but the macro is still cool. We also have 4k 30fps shooting on the rear and 1080p 30fps on the front, which is a single 32, megapixel F 2.2 sensor. So overall the cameras on this are decent, but I would say: are they to the level of the great camera phones out there? Probably not, but don't let me be the judge that check out these camera samples here and video, and let me know in the comments what do you think this is rear-facing video on the galaxy, a 71 shooting in 4k 30fps, and it is a nice day in Hong Kong, but everyone's wearing a face mask? Do you notice every single person? Good colors, though, hit me up in the comments? What do you think- and this is front-facing video on the galaxy- a 71 shooting in 4k? Yes, this can do for K on the front camera, and it looks pretty good colors. Look nice I'm, not wearing a face mask just came out for a quick shooting here, got to get back indoors.

Real, quick anyways. Give me over the comments. What do you think and let's wrap up with some pop G action? Can I go higher in settings here on the Galaxy, a 71 I cannot, so it's going to be HD high I'm going to play realistic, and I've enabled anti-aliasing and shadows, and I've disabled, auto, adjust graphics? There we go and let's get started, and it's time it's time for the classic. Frankie Tech swim test winter edition, just keep swimming, just keep swimming good and look at that immersive display on the galaxy a 71. This six point: seven inch display just makes everything better, including gaming here on Peggy mobile and at the plane jump the galaxy a 71 with the Adrian 618 is no slouch.

This is a solid upper mid-range ship and I still consider an upper mid-range ship when you have phones out there that are still using the 660 or the 675. Let's get down to the surface, get some guns get some action. I sense. Someone is close now time to find some action here, and I hear some gunfire in the distance see if we can find it and I think I see someone over there and look what happened guys they just killed me again. Oh my gosh and I really got to stop playing on my own account because it just makes for really lousy.

Gameplay apologies for that guys, I'm on spectator mode. Now you can see the person who killed me here. How is this film playing this game? Immersive display now I will say the kind of speaker, grills are tiny, so they easily get covered up. I wish the speaker. Holes were a little larger, so you would deal with that issue quite a bit less, but in terms of just immersive display, the phone is cool to the touch.

Arena 6:18 should have no problems playing pub G mobile here on the Galaxy, a 71. So that's it for this video and my final verdict on the galaxy, a 71. So let's go down the list: design good, but not great performance, good, but not great audio quality, good, but not great cameras, good, maybe even very good, but not great and battery life is probably gonna, be pretty damn good, but nothing amazing. So what's the deal with this phone and how can I sum up this phone, then in that case it's all about the display. When you look at all the other factors of this galaxy, a 71, you see that you have a pretty decent phone, a solid device that, for the price, though, makes people scratch their heads and think there are better phones out there that I can get.

There are phones from both Xiaomi in the 90 Pro and now from Realme in the Realme x2 Pro that are just pushing so hard in terms of value. Is this phone able to survive next to these phones? I? Think the answer is that yes resoundingly it is and for one reason alone: it's all about that display guys. This display is just absolutely gorgeous. Don't have a look you'll see what I mean, there's just something about the quality of it. That is very pleasing to the eye and just shows and proves to you that Samsung is the king of AMOLED display technology still in 2020.

Now, I wouldn't want this phone to be just about one thing, but the fact is, it is still solid in all the other areas. Now the one omission is the refresh rate. If this head of 90 Hertz refresh rate I, think I would be in heaven, this might be. My new daily driver I, think that is the one limiting factor about the display, but that doesn't change the fact that it is still one of the nicest displays and considering the size of this phone at six point: seven inches and the price point of 3600 Hong Kong dollars. You can get the 6 GB version for even less.

This may be a viable alternative to those other big display. Phones like the mate 20 acts like the max 3, and all you guys kind of waiting, but don't want to fork out. Like I, said $1000 on the galaxy s 20 ultra that's going to come out with probably an even nicer display and 120 Hertz refresh rate now I've heard of the other alternative as well. The galaxy s 10 light and the note 10 light, and yes, those phones while interesting as well, are still at a higher price point than this one. Those are coming in closer to the six to seven hundred US dollar price range.

While this one is very much in mid-range territory, so I think for a lot of you guys if you value the brand of Samsung, if you value Android, 10-1 UI, to really smooth nice performance, a decent speaker system and decent cameras, but nothing out of the ordinary, but what you value more than anything, is a display and a great display at that. You have your answer in the galaxy a 71. Well, what do you think of the galaxy? A 71? Do you think it's worth its price point, or are there better options out there, like this Realme AXA pro that just kind of undercut this device would love to hear in the comments? What you think and stay tuned I will be doing comparison between these competitors. The Realme XE Pro and the 90 Pro, and we can get a go more in-depth to see- is Samsung going to survive next to these competitors from red meat and Realme that just keep undercutting the business with amazing devices like these too. So that's it for this video.

If you liked it give me that thumbs up and if you love the content of Range tech subscribe to the channel, hit the bell icon for future updates to all you guys affected by the virus, stay safe, I know: I, am it's still very touch-and-go here in Hong Kong, and if you wanted to see some video of me talking about the virus, let me know I will be happy to do that as well. So that's it, and this is where I leave you by saying this is Frankie tech signing off have a good one. You.
