Cyberpunk 2077 OnePlus 8T unboxing By CNET

Today, I'm cracking open the cyberpunk 2077 special edition versions of the OnePlus 8t, so OnePlus has joined forces with cyberpunk 2077 the much delayed game um that hopefully, is coming out in December um all about the weird sort of cyberpunk robot future that we're all going to be living in um. Here it is, it is at its heart, an OnePlus 8t, but apparently the design has changed. The packaging has changed. There's so much that's really cool about this phone, so I was really excited to get it here. On my desk um, we can see straight away that things are very different. It's come in this big sort of display packaging.

The phone box is all yellow, we've got all the cyberpunk branding and what looks like loads of sort of cyberpunk, uh, badges or necklaces or something or other, we'll find out what exactly what those are. Now, this phone is pretty rare because it's only on sale in China, and it's only on sale in quite limited numbers, so again really excited to have it here. So let's flip it over and see. Actually, what we've got it says here on the back: OnePlus 8t, cyberpunk 2077, limited edition, um 120 hertz display 65 watt warp charging, basically the exact same as the regular OnePlus 8t. I think it's time to open this up and I think hopefully I should just be able to slide this cardboard a bit out.

It should be a very easy unboxing and indeed it's exactly what I can do, which means that we can get rid of this. Although there is quite a nice design here, you'll never know the truth until the phone rings. Well, there we go. Maybe this phone, maybe once we've unboxed if it's going to start ringing, and it'll, be my invitation to finally play cyberpunk 2077. , okay, let's let's take the phone out and pop that right there and then let's take these out.

Maybe we'll take a look at these first, because these are new, so I'm not sure what these are. I'm. If I maybe, if I played the game a bit more, this will become a bit more obvious. I do know that night city is like the main city where the game is set, but there's a spider like a robot spider with an m. I don't know what that is.

Nor can I appear to get it out that sunk in their pretty well. Okay, let's get this out instead, okay, so this is a robot rock hands and yeah it's a pin badge designed in night city. It stays on the back. I don't think it really was. It's probably designed um somewhere else, uh yeah there we go, so there's one, and then we've got night city itself, which again is stuck in their pretty well we'll have to get something to help me get that out.

This one says animals, and it's got maybe a tiger roaring on it. That's pretty neat, but there we go, so there's those are our badges. Let's move on to the phone itself, um yeah, very, very bright, yellow box, OnePlus 8t blah blah blah usual nonsense. Let's not read the box, let's just crack straight into it, and we unfold it. Just like this and oh, and we have a map.

We have a map of what I presume is night city there we go it's a bright, yellow packaging and that leaves us with the phone in its box. So here we go the moment of truth, more OnePlus stuff. What's these legends are born in night city? It says okay, so we have some yellow OnePlus and cyberpunk stickers, 2077 neural connection status, active wow, okay. So this is basically a looks like a poster of OnePlus, 8t, cyberpunk, 2077 and then a load of information about it all written in Chinese. So I can't read that, so I'm going to put that away.

That's just a bit get rid of that get rid of that. Ah, a sim tool not branded. I suppose I can't blame them for that. Let's actually look at the phone come back to the packaging, so here we go. I do know that this has got some pretty cool design tweaks on it.

So I am excited okay. I mean first, let's just get rid of these stickers because you can't appreciate the design on this phone when you've got warning stickers all over it. Oh, it's one of those stickers that you peel off, and it leaves bits of it behind. Well. This is a real pain.

Okay, we're good. So here we go. This is the twin cyberpunk 2077 editions of the OnePlus 8t. It is a big departure from the regular OnePlus 8t. This looks like a really sort of weird mix of almost like carbon fiber, maybe mixed with marble or something it's really cool, and it's a totally different texture to this gloss, and this matte area actually feels slightly lower down than this.

So it's like they've sandblasted this into the glossy um glossy cover you can see. We've got cyberpunk 2077 subtly drawn in here. We've got this yellow banding down the bottom, which is quite similar to the uh banding that the orange banding when OnePlus parted partnered with McLaren we've got yellow touches around some of the buttons it's pretty cool and, of course, 2077 neural connection status, active on the phone itself. So we've got this big sort of top camera unit. I don't think the cameras themselves have changed.

I don't think the hardware has changed at all around the edges. Still USB-C um, no headphone jack, so that's pretty much it hardware-wise. So let's just quickly have another look at the phone itself. The rest of the box. Night city changes everybody.

It stays here. I've got a big old, big old, USB plug again a little of cyberpunk branding on there, the standard red cable bit of a disappointment. You could have made that bright, yellow to match this um on the McLaren special edition phones. They made them bright orange to match the phone so slightly missed opportunity. But that is nitpicking.

I suppose um and I think that's everything I don't think there's anything below. Now that doesn't come out. So that is the lot so that very much then, is our unboxing completed. Um, I'm not going to really do much with the phone. We can try and turn it on, but because this is a china only phone, it's running different software.

So I'm not going to be able to see a lot, and it's a little pointless. We've seen the OnePlus 8t already we do get a little of cyberpunk branding when we do uh turn it on there. So that's pretty cool. It's pretty dirty! I'm just going to wipe my t-shirt. Okay uh! So we have yeah.

We have got some okay yeah. I like it, some cyberpunk branding the icons are a bit different. Yeah, we've got a different, looking interface, very cyberpunk yum, but yeah it's its running a different version of their software um called hydrogen OS. I believe um rather than oxygen, which is um the one that we've seen before so yeah, I'm not going to do loads with the phone, but yeah. There is some really cool little graphical tweaks here and overall.

I think this is a pretty nice bit of kit. If you are really into uh the cyberpunk uh universe. If you're really excited about the game, then this is probably a nice bit of merch that you might want to have. If you're outside of China, then you're not going to do a lot with it. But if you can pick one up, then yeah.
