Comparison: Apple iPad Air 4 vs. iPad Pro (A14 vs A12Z)

Should you get the Apple iPad Pro or is the new iPad Air 4 the better choice at first apple's, current iPad lineup can be a bit confusing since the iPad f4 ships with the Apple A14 processor, but there are some important differences between the two I'm Andrew from mynextable. com and here's my comparison of the iPad Pro with the iPad Air 4. Let's look at what differentiates the 2 first, and that starts with the display. The Apple iPad f4 has a 10.9 inch liquid retina display with a pixel density of 264 PPI. You can get the current iPad Pro generation, with an 11 inch or a 12.9 inch liquid retina display, which both have a pixel density of 264 PPI as well, so the sharpness is the same on all of them. If you want a big tablet, then you've got to go for the 12.9-inch iPad. Pro.

Of course, the body size of the 11-inch iPad Pro and the 10.9-inch iPad f4 is the same, but the screen bezels of the air are a tiny bit bigger, since the screen is a bit smaller. But unless you compare them side by side, you won't be able to tell a difference between a 10.9 and an 11-inch screen with 500 nits. The air is brighter than most android tablets, but a bit darker than the 600 in its iPad. Pro both support the true tone technology that adjusts the white balance based on the surroundings. The pros are the only ones with what apple calls a pro motion display.

It means that they support 120 hertz, while the air has a standard, 60hz screen and animations, and so on often do look a bit smoother on the pro now. The 120hz screen of the pro is one of the major selling points over the year. To be honest, I don't notice the smooth animations that much, and I'm not into gaming enough to really care about that, but I do see a difference when using the Apple Pencil, because of this faster screen, drawing with the stylus looks almost instant on the air. On the other hand, you can see a small lag when drawing fast. Besides that, the Apple Pencil 2 is and performs exactly the same on both for watching movies.

The pro is better suited because of its brighter screen, but also because it has better speakers. Both have 4 speaker grills, but the base of the pro is noticeably stronger, and the sound is a bit more pleasing in general. Let's get to the internal hardware. The iPad f4 features a new Apple A14, bionic processor, with 4 gigabytes of ram, and you can get 64 or 256 gigabytes of storage inside the iPad. Pro runs an apple a12z processor, with 6 gigabytes of ram, and you can get between gigabyte and one terabyte of storage.

There are cellular options for both the benchmark. Results are very interested in geek bench, 5, the graphics and the single core performance of the a14 are much better than the a12c, but the multi-core performance of the pro is a tiny bit better than the air. I also did a video render test in Adobe Premiere rush. The iPad f4 needed 5.5 minutes to render a 9 minute, 4k video and the iPad Pro 2020 needed 4.5 minutes. I don't know if that's because of the better multi-core performance or the bigger ram or because of software with everything else, the performance is exactly the same.

I didn't notice any difference at all when using the f4 instead of pro as my daily tablet, that includes gaming like PUBG, mobile and Call of Duty look identical, so I'm pretty sure that most people won't notice any performance difference between the two, but it could be that the pro is better suited for some tasks. If you need lots of ram for a specific app or so. If you like to take photos with your tablet, you will be better off with the iPad Pro. Both tablets have a 7, megapixel webcam and a 12 megapixel main camera. The quality seems to be the same, but since the pro has another sensor for face ID, you can use the portrait mode when taking selfies with the pro.

The pro also has an additional wide angle camera on the back, and it has a LED flash and the lighter sensor which are both missing on the air. I guess most people don't care much about these features on the tablet, but some might instead of facial recognition, you can use the touch I'd fingerprint scanner, that's built into the power button to unlock the air 4. Everything else is mostly the same, and that certainly goes for the design sure with 6.1 millimeter. The air 4 is a tiny bit thicker than the 5.9 millimeter pro, but that's hard to feel, and you can also get the f4 in different colors like blue and green. But besides that the basic design, including the USB c port, is the same.

That also means you can mostly use the same accessories, including the apple, smart keyboard, folio and the apple magic keyboard. Both work great on both tablets and both are running iPad s14, and I'm guessing that both should be able to get updates for many years to come. The battery life of the 11-inch iPad Pro and the iPad f4 is the same too, which is 6 hours when streaming YouTube at maximum brightness. Well, that's the end of my comparison of the Apple iPad. Air 4, with the Apple iPad Pro you've seen that the differences are very minor.

I think for most the iPad f4 is the best choice, we're getting a great screen and amazing performance and a great design, but sure if you want a hertz screen a bit better speakers, a wide angle, camera and the lighter sensor, then you will need to spend more for the iPad Pro. And if you want a bigger 12.9-inch screen, then you will have to get the pro anyways all right. That's it of my comparison of the iPad Air 4 with the iPad Pro.
