What's up guys I'm here with the BlackBerry key one, that's right: the BlackBerry key one. After having my latest device, the BlackBerry Drive I've switched over to an iPhone, and now I have the blackberry key one. This phone is about to approach I, think a year old, if I'm not mistaken, so I'm just excited to give you kind of some basic review. This is not a full in-depth getting into the guts of the phone. It's just some of the basic things that I'll tell you about in this review. This phone is for those who want to get things done.
It's a Productivity device. It is a smart device to true mean of a smart device. Yes, it can do some things with multimedia I'll. Show you some things like that. Some basic things they can do.
Some things to point out it comes with 32 gigabytes onboard would expand it SD card capabilities to I think up to a terabyte. So if you want to save a lot of pictures externally, you'll be able to insert that it does not have a removable battery, but it does pack a 3505 milliampere battery which will get you hopefully through the day, if not more, some people have reported being able to get at least two days out or a day and a half out of the battery life and that's from checking a lot of emails and having push email, notifications and things like that. So I'm going to jump right into this here. To give you my feelings about it, some more specs for those of you who aren't familiar with this device, and then I'm gonna just show you what I like and don't like about it. So just some basic specs I told you: it comes with 32 gigs, where the SD removable SD card and your SIM card goes in there.
You have your volume keys, and then you have this thing called a convenience key which I'll get back to here in a minute. This at the top, is probably the microphone your headphone jack, just nice fill on the back kind of I. Don't know what this material is, but it feels good helps you to grip the phone in that 12 megapixel camera and the flash, let's see USB type-c and speakers at the bottom, and they chose to put the power cord on the side. This see of the star of the show the keyboard which I'll show you some more that in a minute. So in order to wake this bad boy up, you just want to double-click on it.
Like that flick here, one thing they've chosen to do for security purpose. You can put it in a code, but you can also use the space bar for a finger scan. So that's pretty cool I thought that was pretty neat to implement that feature. So, as you can see, I have some basic apps, the BlackBerry getting started: apps Instagram, Twitter WordPress, just some of the basic apps I'm gonna, be using this phone. For.
For me, it's going to be a Productivity type of phone, not necessarily for gaming. I. Maybe do a little for that, but this phone with the processes of a Snapdragon 625 with an outscore 64-bit processor, don't expect much with three gigs of memory. If you have the one with the simmer silver trimming, but if you have the all-black I think it comes with an additional one gig which makes four gigs for that processor. So what I'm going to do is just show you I guess some things with the camera.
The camera is pretty decent. You know, given the situation in selfie mode, you can kind of get a little low-light, it's not the best, but it is what it is. If you're in idea of light situations, you'll definitely be able to get those things that you need that's shot and the same thing with that 12 mix of megapixel, rear camera you'll be able to do the same as you can see here on the left side, you have manual controls, and you can go through different modes. If you want to have that in auto mode, where you don't mess with the controls, but I like to be able to mess with those manual controls to mess with exposure and white balance since things like then ISO and that's another discussion- did the different modes you're able to go with this? The photo panel, video slo-mo scanner- and if you fancy any type of filtering you can do that as well. So that's pretty cool.
If you wanted to choose to choose your aspect ratio there, you may want to go about 16 by 9, a ratio, or you may want to keep it just as it is straight out the box. Let's see what we have here. So if you want to go in manual or I, don't know you can go there. These are just some options you have to go through if you want to shoot in 1080p 30 frames per second. If you want to go even the 4k up to 30 frames per second, you have that option.
I'm gonna, keep it at 1080p for right now and that's pretty much for the camera. I may do a video comparing this phone with the iPhone 6s. That's the phone I have one thing: I do love. Having is this convenience key, so I've set my convenience key to go straight to my browser, and so since I'm in the browser, I kind of show you some things that you can do with this keyboard. So with this keyboard, you're able to kind of touch and scroll like a scroll pad here and what that allows you to do is to be able to scroll on a website without having to use the screen.
You might just want to go here and read whatever article that you're reading without having to touch the screen. One way I love to have it is in landscape mode, and then I can also look at a web page like this, and the reason I like it like this is I won't be likely, or I want it all interfere or hit that home button. If I was in portrait mode I would, you know I'd be doing this, and I could accidentally do that, and I don't want that, so I'm going to hit my convenience key to go back to that and use the keyboard to scroll because. The keyboard is a started. Show I think it's second best in line with the battery batteries number one because of the battery life that you have, and I've been on this battery all day, it's not beyond the char that much I haven't used that much but great battery life.
One thing I'll go since we're talking about the keyboard is going to hit T you can set up different shortcuts, so I chose to set up T for Twitter but say I want to do the same thing for Instagram. Let's see, I can go I, and so what this does are the short key shortcut. It suggests apps that you could use to set up so Instagram. That's the most logical choice. I would use a for is to say okay I for Instagram, and so there I go, and I'm on Instagram, which is pretty cool.
Ok, if I want to, let's see, send an email, the BlackBerry hub is pretty cool. I can look at all my emails here. I can tweet from within the BlackBerry hub. So what I'm going to do is go here, and I'm going to compose a tweet, and I'm going to just flick up some letters. One thing: I love about the Swift here, it's being able to use the keyboard.
So wherever you position, the swipe is where it's going to select that word so as I swipe to the left, I'm going to hit the words that are in, on the left hand, side if I go in the middle I'm going to hit. Fourth I'm going to hit width when I go to the right. So that's one thing that I like about that, or you can just of course type like this. If you want to- and let's see so that gives you the ability to be able to keep your screen real estate. So also in the hub, like I said you can get your Instagram, your Twitter send various emails.
One final thing I want to show: you are just the video quality from this 16 20 by 1080 screen, because I'm, just going to select a random video here, and I'm. Just going to go with the guys for a moment set out to moment. Let's see so pretty good nice quality I, don't just look at it. From my aspect looks good. I have no cons about it.
You know to be honest with you: it's decent for a Productivity based phone, so things I like about it. I love the battery life, I love the keyboard, I love the BlackBerry hub, some things, I, don't like I wish they would have put more processing power behind it, but the reasons behind that may be so that you can enjoy that battery life that you and a lot of people want to enjoy when they use a blackberry. When they're sending a lot of emails for those of you who have emails, you know coming out all the time we're pushing out. You know this. This device is for you, you want that battery life.
So it's for me if I want to do without a gaming or if I just need to do a lot of heavy lifting. Oh, I'll use an iPhone, but I know I run the risk of my battery draining very quickly with that iPhone. But you know if I want to do things to entertain me, that's what I'll use you know and iPhone is treating me well, but if I really want to get down to the nitty-gritty and push out a lot of emails, I'm gonna, but this keyboard is gonna. Do it for me and just having that battery life is a game-changer for me and that's what keeps me here. I'm going to use this as my second device, though, because this would be real, Apple does get all the apps first, you know, and most in some in most cases.
So if there's anything that I didn't cover that you would have liked for me to cover. Let me know in the comments please be sure to subscribe. I need trying to get to a thousand subscribers, so help me get their guys. Also, if you use the key one currently, what do you like? What don't you like I want to hear from you and if there's any other thing that you want me to know, let me know: hey I, pretty much just kind of freestyle, this review, it's nothing deep, but if there's anything else, let me know in the comments guys thank you for tuning in?.
