BlackBerry KeyOne First Look - All Hands on Tech

For some smartphone users there's still no two sweeter words than blackberry keyboard and if you're one of those people I've got great news for you, the BlackBerry key one is all about the keyboard. It goes on sale in Canada, May, 18 and ships May 31, but we're here to get an early look welcome to all hands on tech, I'm, Bryan Jackson. This is the first device to be manufactured under the BlackBerry brand by TCL communication. Remember, the Waterloo based blackberry limited, is no longer designing or making hardware, but this device is the last one. It was working on before licensing out its hardware brand to this Chinese manufacturer. Much like the D tech devices.

The key one is an Android phone with some blackberry twists. This candy bar design features a 4.5 inch touchscreen above a smart keyboard. The frame is aluminum and there's a soft grip texture backing the screen is shatter resistant. The keyboard is really the main attraction here and if you're, an old-school, blackberry user, you'll appreciate some killer productivity tricks worked in here, you can program each key to be a shortcut to reach your contacts or launch your apps blackberries flick typing is here too. Even the keyboard is touch sensitive, basically acting like a d-pad, so you can swipe to scroll through emails and webpages.

A classic road warrior trick in the early 2000s was to carry two charged batteries for your blackberry and then swap them out to survive the day. Well, you can't do that here. The battery is not removable, but the key one also has the longest lasting battery every put in a blackberry. Some early users are reporting nine hours of screen time, there's also a quick charge feature and a suite of power management tools that ever blinking light is back to let you know that you've got unanswered messages. The key one lets you change your color, based on what app the notification comes from other features include a 12 megapixel camera on the back and an 8 megapixel camera on the front.

There is also a micro SD card slot. It supports up to 2 terabytes of storage, all of that for just 199 dollars. That's a good price for a smartphone on today's market. It might just be enough that some Canadians find blackberry keyboard sounds sweet again, thanks for watching all hands on tech.
