BlackBerry KEY2 unboxing

Another day another unboxing, you know the drill. This is actually not a live unboxing because of embargoes. You know those pesky little embargoes, so um you'll see this when, when the embargo lifts, but here this the BlackBerry key ? and if I need to jog your memory last year we got the key one which is right here, and this is its follow-up, and it's a huge improvement in every way. Now the highway has a bit of a cult following it. It was a really fantastic Android phone, especially for those of you who want a keyboard, and this is what this is all about. Now, let's, let's look at this together: let's have a closer look, so it says it has 64 gigs of storage with 6 gigs of RAM there.

It is in French, judge oak tea and blackberry tea. ?, ah I see nothing on the side. There's some serial number and information here you can see this is a 100 ?, 100 ? one two, three and four, not quite sure. That means Barber a difference in bands. Nothing on this side.

Nothing on that all here. Some specs intelligent keyboard powered by Android, and it's in French of course, as well.4G cat 12, LT 4.5 inch IPS panel 1080p, that's the same as last year: Snapdragon 660, that's an upgrade from the 625 dual camera. One is white and one is tell a that's, also an upgrade aka Maya pixel. That's the same. Ram is an upgrade six gigs.

Instead of four same battery size, Android 8. Instead of seven that's a big improvement and there it is in French and there's some stuff here: copyright blah blah blah the usual. So, let's open it showing time did it enter dun, dun, dun, dun, dun, dun, that's it and I almost did the Rambo theme there for a second didn't: I, ah notice, the embossed blackberry key to logo. I, don't think, there's anything anywhere here. Ah, there's some more I guess that's the same information we saw earlier because that was sticking out of the case.

All right, you ready here we go. Oh, this is hard to open there. We are so that folks is the BlackBerry t2 in all of its beautiful glory. And oh that looks really sexy. Doesn't it I, don't think the display is on I think this is just a sticker but yeah, so before I go into the details of this phone and compare it to the old one.

Let's look at the rest of the box, so you got a partition here, nothing to write home about, and then here you've got presumably the manual and sim removal tool there we go. So let's take care of that. Shall we just open that very nicely like this, and you get the sim removal tool and some manuals cords? Let me see, what's in here, shall we alright, so low-key ? welcome to your new Android, smartphone, French and English I'll? Do it in French Nick will be able to vote telephone Anthony John on the wheel. I remember I was a native French speaker, so this shouldn't come as a surprise to you, Quick Start, Guide right here. That's actually had a quick look through there huh.

Oh, it tells you everything so notice, right away. The power/lock key is now on the same size as a convenience to unit volume rocker. You can see that right there. That's a big difference. Everything else seems to be more or less in the same spot.

This is how you put your SIM cards in Leila there you are in the back, not quite sure, what's there, but who cares? This is the French version. This is the Spanish version, and what is this? Their warranty card? Okay. What else is in the box? We've got a charger, probably quick charge compatible since last year's blackberry, key one was quick charge, three a thing compatible. Maybe four looks like a standard, USB charger to me and has USB type A on it. Then we've got the cable for it: standard USB type, A, two USB type-c.

You can kind of see it there. Let me see if I can get it out there. You go USB, type-c again, nothing unusual! So far and finally, will you get your buds notice that there was a headphone jack on this phone Oh BlackBerry branded earbuds, very lovely I'm, not gonna. Take these odd. You know, I! Never do these the taking out of things because it doesn't matter you've all seen your USB, cable, and you've all seen a charger before so.

Let's focus on the phones here is the key -. It's pretty nice, that's uh! Let's have a quick side-by-side here with a key one. So first thing you notice it's a little taller, maybe not actually yeah, just a little taller than you can see there um, but it's all its one unibody frame, whereas the other one last year, even though, as you, anybody had these and Jenna bands and stuff that kind of made it frumpy and then add this plastic top cover. Now it's all aluminum, all the way around no frumpy well as few antenna bands, but they're kind of more hidden. So this is I think an improvement in many ways to me.

So the display looks it's an is the same, just centered differently. So let's say: let's remove the stickers okay and oh before we put away the key one. This is what the back looks like. So you have an idea what the difference is. Actually, let me pull that back out when we've removed all the stickers.

So first we remove this back sticker. You ready for that. One two three whoa way louder than I expected folks all right, and then we've got a front sticker there. We go you ready! Well that went off completely quietly, so here we are now. Let's compare them again.

So, as you can see, this is a much more streamlined design compared to last year. This is slicker, looking it's a little taller, but it's about a millimeter thinner, and it still has a trademark blackberry look, but it's a little less top-heavy with that without the plastic top end cap and with a dual camera, and it still feels like that's, nice rubbery feel the one's a little softer, probably because it's been in my pocket for quite a while last year this was a fun foam, I'm, not a huge hardware. Keyboard fan, but I do respect the concept of having a hardware keyboard on a phone, and if this is these are the phones to get especially in the new t2, obviously right, so the other obvious difference you notice is. This is shiny keys and this is matte cheese this year and the fingerprint reader is still in the space bar, and the cameras are all hidden up here now, which I think is a much again much less frumpy design than last year and I have a feeling that maybe the capacitive keys are gone, I'm, not sure if we'll find out when we start it up. So that's it in a nutshell.

Thickness, as you can see, one millimeter, thinner, 8.5 or something versus 9.2, especially the camera bump, makes a big difference here, but there you go all right. So, let's walk you around this phone again. On the left-hand side you have the SIM card slot and micro SD card slot right there. On the bottom, we have two grills, probably a mono speaker, the primary mic, USB type-c. On the right hand, side you have three buttons now, because the power button was on, the other side has been relocated.

Volume rocker power, lucky I presume, is the ridged one. Nice ridged I, like it convenience key, which is a programmable key, take note, Samsung and LG that this key can be reprogrammed to be sick, Google assist, ?, you're, a start, the camera key or whatever you want. So there's a dual camera system this year, there's still 12 megapixel main camera, but it's F over 1.8 instead of F over 2.0 this year still has large 1.5, 5, micron pixels and then there's a teller lens as F over 2.6 and 1 micron pixels. So that's an improvement, and you've got a dual LED flash blackberry logo and then 8 megapixel front-facing camera speaker. You can see the edge of the display here a little, there's probably a notification LED in here, not sure if this capacitive buttons will find out and here's that keyboard it feels about the same as last year.

Let me compare real quick here. Are the two keyboard side-by-side yeah? It feels a little less click, but actually feels better I think so improved and yeah. That's it in a nutshell. So the guts Snapdragon 666 gigs around 64 gigs of storage on this particular unit. It does have a 35 on William hour battery that hasn't changed.

So in many ways it's just a very nice design, and you know spec upgrade to last year's form. Let's turn it on, hopefully still have some charge there. We go, so we'll find out if the buttons are hardware buttons or on-screen buttons. This year be interesting to see yeah I like this design. This is much honestly much slicker.

If you ask me much more sexy much more buttoned down very, very cool, very nice, very nice, well done blackberry! Well done all right! Here we go now. Once it starts up. I will wrap this up because I got more stuff to do. I'm going to be reviewing this little puppy, so I need to set it up, which I'm not gonna. Do it only on the arrows? You know so little uh takes a little while to boot.

That was also the case. Last year you notice that there is still a plastic cover on top of the keyboard here, so its unique body only in the frame you can see the edge of the Play here, but it's really well done. So it feels like one piece which is fascinating, but the top is all metal now, and here we are okay, so there are capacitive buttons under here, they're just not lit up. So this is where you can see you know and there's haptic feedback when I tap them, so that hasn't changed either, which makes sense- and this is where you can really see how the displays are similar right. There you are, you can see it they're, pretty much identical, alright, folks, I'm gonna.
