- Hey guys! Hope you're not sick of experiments with the S9 yet cause I happen to have another one. This one I wanted to check how the S9 Plus held up against the other top phones in terms of battery life. So to do this, I took the Mate 10 Pro, the iPhone X, the S8 Plus, just to see how it did against its predecessor. The Pixel 2 XL, the OnePlus 5T, and put them against the S9 Plus. I put them all on the same gigabit Wi-Fi network. I made sure they had all of the same social networks installed with the notifications all on so that they were all getting the same notifications at the same time.
And then, I took a Nyan Cat video because it's a really long video on YouTube. Um, it's 10 hours long. I cut it down in half so playback speed was half because this way it would last 20 hours because most of the batteries last more than 10 hours on these phones because they are kind of the top battery phones I could find. And then I also made sure that they were all showing back at 1080p. (upbeat music) Here's what happened.
And they're off. I had to speed this up quite a bit. Literally took like over 10 hours, obviously. So, here we are at hour three. Hour five.
Ooh, and we have a low power notification from the iPhone X. And it's dead at a little over 10 hours. Ooh, the Pixel 2 XL dies shortly thereafter. Ooh, the Mate 10 Pro followed by the S9 Plus, and the OnePlus 5T. And, dead at 14 hours and 42 minutes.
Now, this is not a scientific test by any means. Um, if you guys have a better suggestion of how to replicate battery usage across all the devices at the same time that was controllable, um, I would love to hear from you. Let me know in the comments below and maybe I'll try that on the next one. Otherwise, though, what can we learn from this one? I mean, the S9 Plus definitely has good battery life, compared to a lot of the other phones out there. Um, it did beat the Pixel 2 XL, which I'm not surprised about.
And also, the iPhone X, which I'm also not surprised about. The thing that was surprising about this was that the S8 Plus, and, it beat it. Which is weird, because this is a newer processor with better, you know, battery management and all that other fun stuff. But, yeah, I'm not quite sure how to explain that. If you guys have a suggestion on what you think happened, let us know in the comments below.
Be nice though, don't get angry at each other, or at me. Be constructive. Um, there you go. I hope you guys enjoyed that. If you did, I mean, if nothing else, it's kind of interesting.
I think so at least. I hope you guys did as well. If you did enjoy it, please thumbs up it or share it. It's greatly appreciated. Also, subscribe to my channel if you're not already.
And, even if you are, or you're about to, thank you. But also, make sure to check that bell next to the word "subscribe" so you actually get notified when I do new videos. Otherwise, you just probably won't ever hear about 'em. It's just how YouTube works nowadays. But, regardless, as always, thanks for watching.
(funky bass music).
