Are Xiaomi Mi 11 Cameras the Same Level as Apple’s iPhone 12 Pro?

Xiaomi's camera setup on the mi 11 has attracted a lot of attention. It's supposed to be Xiaomi's best implementation. Yet, and here are the early results they're very encouraging, but then you can't judge performance in a vacuum. Right everything's got to be related to something else, and apple's cameras are usually the ones to beat. So how does Xiaomi perform in comparison? There are nine extra megapixels for the primary 108 versus 12. Is this: even a fair fight will Xiaomi's optics blow apple away or well? Let's just leave it at r, hey guys ash here from c4e tech and if you do end up liking.

What you see in this video subscribe turn on notifications by hitting that bell icon. Let's now get started so guys, starting with a disclaimer, I'm not gonna, be looking at apple's, telephoto or Xiaomi's macro. Here we are going to be comparing the primary and secondary along with the selfie snapper so primaries. The mi 11 has a 108 megapixel sensor. You know how both the s20 and s21 ultras they get.

Samsung's 108 megapixel sensors, the s20 has the s20 ultra has the first gen s21 ultra has the third gen. The v11 has gen 2 of the same sensor. So from a sensor perspective, it falls right in between the s20 and s21 ultras. Now do note. This is not nun binning, so the shots by default are not 12 megapixels, but rather 27 megapixels.

So it's four to one and the pairing is with an f 1.85 lens that is optically stabilized the iPhone 12 Pro. On the other hand, it has a 12 megapixel sensor. This is optically, stabilized, f, 1.6. So now, let's start with images shot in the day at first lunch, the iPhone appears to be a little noisier, look at the dark spot under the bridge, but it is also worth noting that the dynamic range is a tiny bit better on the iPhone. While the details in the dark spots are about the same, there's better capture of the highlights just look at the face of the building.

Now, to give you another example: let's take this scene, the shot's cleaner, with a me11 as visible here now the dynamic range is about the same. The iPhone does these highlights a little better, but the me11 seems to capture a little more detail in the shadows. One final set now this again shows the detail levels being quite similar. The 11 has a slight edge, though, like this call now it's more legible on the image shot by the 11. Remember so far, the 11 has been doing 27 megapixels.

What happens when we switch to the 108 megapixel mode? Do we get more detail? Yes, we actually do at 108 megapixels. The mi 11 does have better detail resolution, look at the bricks in the shot and, of course the image remains cleaner, the iPhone it continues, handling the highlights and shadows a little better, but between these two gun to my head, I'll go with the me11 for bright conditions with ultra wide, though the iphone iPhone 12 Pro hits right back. It does a noticeably better job. Well, again, there's not a drastic difference in detail. The mi 11 does have more distortion at the edges and, more importantly, there's a lot more chromatic aberration.

Let's see the purple fringing here at the edges of this tree and lamppost. That's the main reason why I choose apple here and that picture. That scenario was not an outlier either to check that here's yet another shot, and here the chromatic aberration is visible at the edges of the balcony. Do note that the noise levels are still a tad higher with the iPhone. That said, it continues edging the me11 out with dynamic range, given how apple's handling the highlights so under good lighting conditions, things are more or less similar with the meal, even arguably holding a slight edge with the primary the iPhone with the ultrawide.

But what happens when the sun goes down? Did you seriously just say when the sun goes down? I mean really: okay, both phones. They do have dedicated night modes. Xiaomi does better here as well, but there is one caveat see as long as Xiaomi is able to get the picture, get the picture right. The quality on the mi 11, it looks superior, but this happens only about half the time. The other half of the times we end up with minor shakes like this.

The iPhone 8 is more consistent. So if I were to describe this, I'd probably put it this way. Would you want a 50 50 chance of getting a picture? That's 90, good uh or a hundred percent chance of getting a picture. That's eighty, eighty-five percent good me! I take the latter and hence I feel apple's done a better overall job with low light. Now, moving on to selfies, we are putting a 20 megapixel snap on the mi 11 against a 12 megapixel snapper again on the iPhone uh, the detail as well as skin tones, though they come across better on the 12 pro.

Despite the resolution difference. As for video, it's 8k versus 4k detail is definitely Xiaomi's strong point given the 8k resolution, but at this resolution there's not much stability dropped to 4k 60 and just like with the iPhone, you can see the stability it's on it's on power, but Xiaomi seems to crop a little more for that stabilization. Barring this, the clips are pretty evenly matched though the color science is a little different. I'll actually say: Xiaomi gets an itch here with selfie video, it's 1080p on the mi 11 versus 4k on the iPhone. The wider footage on the 11 is much more pleasing to the eye, and I'd probably give this to Xiaomi.

If not for the exposure changes, it is a little sensitive which leads me to say that the iPhone is better here. But if Xiaomi were to fix this with a future update, then I'd probably reverse my decision, so bottom line apple continues, having an edge with optics between these two. If I had to pick a phone uh to shoot, I would go for apple for stills and Xiaomi for real videos, but the margin of difference is pretty slim now. To answer the original question, our Xiaomi's cameras on the mi 11 at the same level as apple's optics on the iPhone 12 Pro the answer is a resounding yes, there might be a few differences here and there the iPhone might pull ahead, especially under low light, but the difference is in night and day and for a phone, that's priced, cheaper. The 11's cameras are amazing.

Again do note. This is not your regular for the price, it's good, but it's actually flagship level pretty close to the 12 pro it's almost there. So there you have it the 11, which is iPhone 12 Pro cameras compared. What do you think of the performance? Did you expect the m11 to get this close? Did you come in expecting a different result? Let me know in the comments below and with that we get to the end of this comparison.
