Apple Watch VS Garmin 245: Which is the better RUNNING watch!?

What's up runners, my name is Christopher Chaplin, and I'm rush Mills, and today we're gonna. Compare the Apple Watch with the government 245 to see which one is better for runners: let's do it. Okay, so I've had the gun. I've used a garment for the last, probably three or four years right now, I have the newest model, which is the Garmin Forerunner, 245, and I've. Had this one for probably four months. One of the things that love about Garmin, especially this watch, is it's easy to use one button, you just start stop easy.

Another benefit to Garmin is it's super. Accurate Garmin has always been a navigation company, and it's always really reliable, and it's easy to track. Where you've gone running. You can use it to get back to where you came from. If you get lost, and it's its reliable that way, super-nice yeah.

So if you go somewhere, and you're lost, if you took a ton of trails, and you're lost, you can there's a feature on here. We can say, take me back to where I started, and it'll take you right back to where you started. Neat cell service, for that nope no I'd even have my phone with me, okay, so another really nice thing about this watch is waterproof. You can receive smart notifications on your watch. Just like you would on an Apple Watch text messages.

Emails. You can answer your phone from your watch. You can't talk on your watch. Furthermore, you can answer things like that: control, music to a certain degree, now we're going to step away from the Garmin and take a look at the Apple Watch as a running watch, the pros for the Apple Watch. One of the big features about this watch that I love is the ability to make and receive calls from it without needing your phone on you, and I've used this once when I went out on a super, long run and I just died, it was like too hot I was probably dehydrated, I, don't know what happened, but I had to call my wife to come.

Pick me up and she did she rescued me. So that's the only time I've really ever used it, but it gives me and I know it gives my wife a lot of peace of mind to know that, like if I'm out running, who knows where she can just give me a call, or I can call somebody if I need to next thing. I love about the Apple Watch is the design. It just looks cool and the band is really comfortable. One of the main reasons that I got this watch is like I said: I was training for a marathon and I thought it would be super cool to have music playing from my watch to my headphones without bringing my phone with me and that's something that the Apple Watch can do.

The watch is also waterproof. I didn't know that the garment is also waterproof, so they're equal there I, don't really swim, I swim like once, every 2 or 3 years. So, there's that the other thing that I really like about Apple Watch is it has this feature called Find, My Phone, so I'm always losing my phone, and all you have to do is swipe up and tap a button and if it's close enough to your phone, so if it's anywhere in your house it will help you ping your phone and find it and that's super convenient. My watch says to okay, there's another pro crossed off the list, so now it's time to move away from the pros and take a look at the cons of both of these watches. Ok, so one of the cons about this watch is at least from what I have experienced.

Bluetooth always works. I don't have to worry about that. But if the app is closed on your phone, this watch has a hard time. Syncing I found if the app is always open on your phone there are less problems, but that's also kind of annoying. So when it closed all your apps again, the last one is it's not necessarily a con, except for, if you're, comparing it directly to the Apple Watch, they've done a perfect job of making.

These looks sleek, especially compared to the first models, but it just does not compare to what the Apple Watch it looks like, so Apple Watch my vote. Aesthetically wins. Okay, so first con that I'll talk about with the Apple Watch is you're. Definitely paying the Apple tax. You're going to spend a little more money on the Apple Watch versus a Garmin, so it is more expensive, like I said, though in my pros, I felt justified with spending the extra money, because it's an Apple Watch, and it could sync with all my other devices and act as a Productivity tool, which brings me to Khan number two.

So this watch will track everything, not just your mileage through Strata, but it'll track the calories that you've burned for the day, your heart rate, the minutes that you've spent exercising it will track your breathing and tell you if you're stressed out or not and all the notifications, that this watch has actually increased my anxiety so much on one hand, I feel super guilty turning off notifications, because I spent extra money so that I could have this productivity watch this smart device when I do have them off I feel like anxiety, because I don't know what's coming through like I, don't I hate it. Another con for the Apple Watch is bad apps. Whatever app you decide to use for running has been developed for Apple Watch and in terms of development. There are some limitations with what developers can do on that particular device. So the apps don't work as well on Apple Watch as they do on a Garmin.

I've noticed that with friends of mine who have Strata it's a lot easier for them to use on a Garmin watch than it is for me to use on my Apple Watch and the main reason for that brings us to the final con for getting an Apple Watch, and that is everything on it is touchscreen. So, unlike the Garmin, I can't start and stop my watch on my run with the crown everything has to be done from the touchscreen and when it's really hot, outside, and you're sweaty I can't tell you how many times I go to start and stop Strata, and it won't start or stop. It's not registering that I'm touching the touch screens. It is a big problem if you're doing track work, because in order to start and stop the watch, you have to pull it up because it senses where it is in space relative to your body and if you're on the track, and you're running really hard. Your arms are moving already, and you go to lift your wrist so that you can stop the watch.

The watch doesn't always register that you are looking at it and need to stop it, so you have to it's really it's its a bad design if you're a competitive runner. Okay, so that's basically the pros and cons of an Apple Watch as explained by an idiot. So what's my overall opinion on which watch is better, it sort of depends on how serious you are about running, and I am not knocking Apple Watch at all, because this is awesome. A lot of people have them already and if you have them already like by all means, if you're a casual runner use it as your GPS watch, because overall it works pretty well, but as a runner that runs every day and a lot of the workouts that I do are on the track or their speed. Workouts mile repeats intervals and stuff like that, and if you're, that kind of runner do not get the Apple Watch for a few reasons.

First off it's the wrong tool to use for running because of the touchscreen. It makes it really difficult to accurately time yourself and as a fitness device. Overall. This has caused a lot of anxiety for me. I am struggling a lot with it, and I've realized that the answer to it is getting rid of it once this thing's lifespan is over I'm switching over to Garmin.

So that's my opinion. Okay, to wrap things up like what Chris said and taking my bias out of everything I would have to say the Garmin wins if you're talking about a running tool, I think Apple Watch is amazing, with everything it does, but for running related activities. The Garmin just wins is simple: it's waterproof, durable, reliable! So if you want to watch that, isn't everyday just watch that you can use for just about anything Apple's, probably the way to go. If you're looking for a watch, that's going to help you with running specifically Garmin is the way to go.
