Apple March 2019 Event: Apple News, AirPods 2, iPad, iPad mini, and more!

Ladies and gentlemen start your engines. Let's get ready to rumble We have an Apple event planned for March 25th. Well that is at least according to BuzzFeed who is telling us that Apple is planning an event for Monday March 25th at the Steve Jobs these are in Cupertino California. So the event is said to focus on new subscription services. And it's unlikely that we would see new hardware launched. Now I hear those nagging Apple fanboys just coming at me.

Apple never has it rumour on Monday. Well on the contrary Apple has held spring events two out of the past six times on a Monday. And you call yourself a ride or die fanboy. You should be ashamed of yourself. So if we're going to use history is a guide post it would tell us that Apple is very likely to go ahead and host springtime event where they launch new hardware and software.

This is because since 2010 Apple has held an event in the springtime where they launch new hardware and software six out of the past nine years. So who can forget Steve Jobs sitting on the couch demonstrating on the very first iPad back in 2010. Otherwise you could think about the quickly discontinued iPad 3 in 2012. Or even the very first iPad Pro. The The nine point seven inch if you remember way back when that came out in 2016.

Now nine point seven inches for high Pedro seems kind of laughable. I think the better question is what does it all mean and what can we expect to see from Apple at this supposed March 25th event. Well sit back relax. I'm I'm going to unpack the rumors and tell you what I expect to see at that event. I'm Mike and this is tech 24/7 TV.

If it's your first time here welcome and otherwise. Welcome back Let's get started As I said in the beginning. This event is run by Buzzfeed to solely focus on new subscription services. And that would be unlikely that we would see the launch of new hardware that new subscription service that's mentioned there is likely the combination of Apple's purchase of texture magazine service back in March of 2000 18. This This is a digital magazine service that's been likened by many as the Netflix of news.

So just kind of a side note here I hate everyone saying it's the Netflix of this. It's the Uber of that. It's just so annoying. But I digress. Let's go back.

So in case you're unaware what texture is it is a magazine new subscription service that Apple purchased last year costing 989 a month and allows users to read as many magazines as they want in that month period for that low price of 999. Apple finally might be ready to launch this video streaming service that we've been hearing so much about for such a quite long period of time as they inch toward that milestone of releasing the service. It seems like they've been working on it forever. Using the spring event to launch the news and magazine subscription service in addition to the video streaming service makes logistical sense given that Apple historically goes into a low profile for the next few months as the teams get spun up to support WDW DC and the upcoming IOW 13 beta that and all this time Apple's been spending a ton of money on original programming. And we have yet to seen any of it materialize.

Then you take into account the report from Bloomberg that such celebrities including Jennifer Aniston Reese Witherspoon and J. J. Abrams are all rumored to attend the event. Now that is not to say that Apple couldn't choose to announce either one of these streaming services really with a press briefing with journalists one on one or by sending out something in the news wire through Apple news. But if I was Tim Cook and I was shifting the way that my entire organization looks at service related offerings that could eventually actually reshape my revenue model I would probably do a little bit more than just kind of announce it on newswire or send it out in an announcement.

But who knows. We heard a few minutes ago from Buzzfeed that they didn't think that new hardware was going to be available but kind of all things taken in context. You know we have the magazine subscriptions service and we have the possibility of the video streaming service. There There is really no better way to showcase either one of those subscription services than on new tablet sized hardware. Well that suggestion aligns perfectly with the rumors that could be coming out of the Iaw Walcott to beat up including new hardware identifiers for an iPad.

And I've had many and an iPod Touch. Touch. What an iPod touch People still buy those. If this new video streaming service is going to materialize I wouldn't be surprised if Apple set up demo areas at this March 25th event that include Apple TV hardware kind of in the shape of a living room or a family room where you also have teams from the manufacturers including LG Sony Vizio and Samsung already to demonstrate their airplay to home compatibility and in Samsung's case the ability to purchase content from the iTunes movie and TV show store. In terms of other hardware we have the Holy Grail what every Apple fan has been waiting for their iPods to according to rumor blog my smart price new airplanes will be available either near or on the event date.

These These new airports are going to come in additional new finish which is matte black you know just like KPMG says map black all the things. So the new air power tools are going to feature upgraded audio with enhanced base. They're going to help sensors capable of pulling your heart rate from the inner ear and Bluetooth 5.0 for connecting management and longer battery life. Now Apple please whatever you do don't make the deeper base like what you had in the first and second generation beats headphones because it was pretty horrible. Thanks very much appreciate you.

Now rounding out the feature set is going to be a soft touch texture coding that can be applied to the airports and the case itself. Now I'm not really too sure about this one it just feels like someone who is a pixel fanboy is screwing with us. But otherwise if they do bring up and they're bringing the soft touch coding it will be very welcome because my airports to case looks like hot garbage. And last but certainly not least its air power. You know the mythical wireless charging pad that is capable of charging your iPhone your Apple Watch.

In addition to your air pods as we draw close to the rumored event date here are my biggest questions. Number one how is Apple going to differentiate the experience on native hardware versus that on third party hardware. So number two how far can we extend the idea of being able to purchase content on. Another platform and can we expect to see iTunes Movies and TV shows app or even possibly Apple news and magazines on Androids. Number three what does the purchasing process look like for content purchases that originate I'm not in need of hardware.

Number four interestingly enough what is Samsung's incentive to go and maintain the eye to store and TV apps. Number five. Most importantly what is Apple going to call the service. Is it going to be Apple. Television is going to be ITV.

Is it going to be Apple TV. And with that what burning questions do you have about the rumored event and how do you feel about the list of suspected hardware. You want to see something added to it. Maybe a new macro refresh or maybe even an iPhone. I see there's no one saying that they couldn't do that because they've done it before at a March event.

Well let me know in the comments below. Hit like hit subscribe and I will talk to you in the next one.
