Apple iPhone 8 & 8 Plus Review!

What's up guys its Justin here today, I've got my experience with the Apple iPhone 8 and 8 plus, so I personally had every single iPhone. Since the iPhone 5 I had the 5, the 5s 6 am an am Lima, and for most of last year, I was using the iPhone 7 and 7 plus so in this video I'm going to be talking about whether the changes this year are really worth it. If you're coming from a previous generation I'm, also giving away one iPhone 8 on the channel, so all you have to do to enter is subscribe to the channel leave a like on the video and also drop a comment down below, and I'm, going to announce the winner over on my Twitter and Instagram pages on November 1st. So you might want to follow me there, but without wasting any more time. I'm just going to jump right into the hardware, so the iPhone 88 plus is offered in three different colors and two different storage configurations, including a 64 gig and 256 gig option. There is no longer a 128 or a 32, and the starting price on the 8 is $6.99, unlocked in the US and $7.99 for the Plus model, it's sold in three different colors, which are essentially new, including Space, Gray, a silver and also a gold which I actually think looks pretty good. Despite not liking.

Gold phones anymore, when it comes to spec Apple, is put in an A 11 Bionic chip on the iPhone 8 + 8 + parrot, with three gigs of RAM and from benchmark scores. It just shows how much potential that this one has, and in fact it actually comes in very close to benchmarks on some base MacBook, it's a 6 core processor and compared to the iPhone 7 + 7 +. It is a 25% performance increase and the GPU is 30% more powerful when it comes to specs I, don't think we can actually complain about what Apple has done here, because this is an extremely powerful phone that is going to be more powerful than most people are going to need, especially if you consider how well apps are optimized on iOS. What I really have to complain about, though, is the fact that the hardware has really not changed at all in this year's model. From the previous years, aside from some minor things here and there, and I know, a lot of people are going to say the iPhone X is that foam that is supposed to have some change.

I would have at least like to see a couple key things on the iPhone, 8 and 8, plus just to change it up a little from like the previous three generations. The plus model phone is still too large for the size of screen that you have on this, and the bezels could definitely be a lot thinner on the top and bottom, while still keeping the home button and everything you need on the top. I think the glass back looks pretty good, but I've got the gray model here, and I'm personally, not the biggest fan of it. I would have liked to just see a black, because this does not look like Space Gray at all, and I think with glass. Black is just so much more elegant, but, on the other hand, I think the silver model and the gold model looks really awesome, and the gold one especially has kind of a special look to it.

That I didn't think I was going to like durability is definitely a question and Apple claims that were so excited, because this glass is the most durable ever in a smartphone which, to some degree, could be true, but I, don't think this material is stronger than ceramic from jury-rigged everything's scratch test. It was proof that the front is about the same in terms of scratch resistant compared to the iPhone, 7 and 7 plus, but the back is pretty scratch resistant and personally, I would actually want to use his phone without a case, but that probably isn't the best idea, a case that you can get for the iPhone, 8 and 8 plus is from Qaddafi, and the case I got here is a Vale AT, and this case comes in at just 0.35 millimeters. So it is essentially still a naked phone, and it feels that way because of just how thin it is. It is able to protect the back of your iPhone, 8 and 8, plus from scratches and also light drops. So if you just spent this much on this phone, you might want to get something like the Vale AT to protect it.

Even if you're not a big fan of cases, because of how thin the case is. It also works with wireless charging pads, which is nice. I, would like to give a huge thanks to them for sponsoring the iPhone, 8 and 8 plus coverage, and I'll leave a link to everything in the description section below. If you sort of want to get a case, though, you can also get a deeper end skin like the one here, and this protects your phone from scratches, and it comes in a whole variety of colors and textures. So I'll leave a link to that below as well.

The phone is also ip67 water and dust resistant, and it weighs a little more than the previous model. By about 10 to 12 grams, depending on which model you decide to get. The glass back brings wireless charging, which is something that iPhone users have been waiting for such a long time and gladly Apple did go with a wireless charging technology that is Universal called QI. Wireless charging, which Android users have had for a while now, and it would have sucked if Apple made us, wait this long and released a proprietary charging system for the iPhone, a 10-8 plus wireless charging. The wireless charger I'm currently using with the iPhone 8 and 8 plus, is from phone salesman and I think it looks pretty awesome, and I'm going to leave a link to it in the description section below on the bottom you're going to find the Lightning port.

But one new thing about this is that you do have the ability to fast charge, but it is not available out of the box, because the included charger is still the same five watt adapter that Apple has been, including with their phones forever now as someone who uses their phone a ton and also uses battery packs throughout the day. This is definitely a welcome feature but having to pay extra for an adapter to take advantage of possibly one of the few major changes to the iPhone, 8 and 8 plus is kind of lame, and I would have liked to see. Apple had included a new charger to at least accommodate this feature. The display resolution on the iPhone, 8 and 8 plus stays the same for the most part, with a full HD resolution on the iPhone 8 plus and a 1334 by 750 resolution on the iPhone 8 Apple calls us a new retina HD display, and it is still very vibrant. I think it looks great.

The color accuracy is definitely there with the p3 color space and a splendid not being a crazy resolution. It's still sharp, but I'm still curious and excited to check out the iPhone 10 when that comes out with that OLED display. The new iPhones also have true tone technology, which uses a light sensor to sense, a situation that you're currently in and adapt the display, based on its color temperature to that. But I found for the most part, true tone leaned towards the warm tone, which is not really my preference, but is definitely easier on the eye for iPhone users. Software isn't gonna, be really anything that is shocking or exciting this year, because if you have a previous generation Apple device in the past couple years, you most likely have the same software, and you're literally just switching to a new phone with new hardware, with exception to a few things: the iPhone, a 10-8 plus ships with iOS 11, and just to summarize, you have a new control center interface that you're going to have to get used to, and I'm starting to like it a bit more now you can also scan files into notes and there's also a new Apple file system built into iOS 11 as well.

Syria's also been improved once again this year and some other things that I found myself enjoying an iOS 11 is the fact that the keyboard allows you to shift it to one side. So if you have a plus model iPhone and have small hands- and it just makes typing so much easier and that's something that I've been waiting for a number of years now with that being said, though, iOS hasn't changed. That much and some design modifications in iOS 11 are a bit questionable and I feel like are a waste of space, and even after so many years, we still don't have proper split-screen multitasking, which we all know. These phones in terms of their hardware, is capable of. When it comes to gaming experience on the new iPhones, though it is literally second to none the a11 Bionic chip is more than capable, and you're definitely had a great time, and the one thing I do like about having larger bezels on a smartphone is when you grip your phone with two hands to play the game.

You don't have to worry about covering the screen, which is something notice on the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 and the s8. As for the camera, the iPhone 8 Na+ has seen some changes this year, but the iPhone 7 already had a great camera. So what could they have changed to make this phone worth it? The main cameras on both phones is still 12 megapixels, which is the same as last year, but it does have a new color filter and a new sensor and the main camera has an aperture of f-18 and the secondary camera on the iPhone 8 plus is F 2.8. The iPhone 8 plus still only has optical stabilization on the main lens. So if you want to have stabilization on both lenses, perhaps you'd be recording a ton of video, then you're going to have to get the iPhone 10.

Honestly I was already pretty satisfied with the photos on the iPhone, 7 and 7 plus it was definitely amongst the best, but not the best. On the market. Personally I thought the Samsung Galaxy S8 and the Google Pixel has slightly better cameras, but the reason why I often go back to my iPhone camera is I, often like to edit my photos and photos coming from the iPhone were much more natural and editable compared to the Samsung or the Google Pixel, the colors aren't over saturated. It did a pretty good job in terms of balancing the focus was fast and the camera experience on the iPhone eights was still consistent and great when comparing photos to the iPhone 7 plus, the difference wasn't crazy, but it was slightly sharper, the colors pop out a little more and when it came to dynamic range, I notice, a very slight difference there as well when it comes to low-light images, there's a small improvement from the iPhone 7 and 7 plus, but it still isn't the best low-light smartphone camera that I've tested. What Apple has tried to focus on this year is portraits, though you're able to select a bunch of different modes to have a portrait taken, including natural studio, contour stage, lighting or sage lighting mono, and some of them look pretty cool, and they're fun to play with.

But it's honestly still something that works well in optimal situations, but not a feature that I use a ton and that's just me either way. Despite the photos coming out pretty nicely considering they're taking on a smartphone, it still really isn't a good reason to go ahead and buy a brand-new phone. As for video, though, I was pretty happy with a number of changes that Apple made this year to the built-in cameras on the iPhone, 8 and 8 plus, for example, you can now record 4k at 60 frames per second, and they've, also added a 4k 24 option. So, for someone like me who records YouTube videos in 24 having the option to record 24 frames per second into the iPhone, is something that I've really enjoyed addition. You can also record Full HD video at 240 frames per second for up to 15 seconds which, from looking at this sample footage, looks really awesome.

Generally speaking about the video quality, though, I was super happy with the footage once again, and I think the iPhone actually has one of the best video cameras on the market because of the stabilization that is built into the phone which, from comparison with Samsung, Google and other smartphones that had stabilization in video. The stabilization built into the iPhone definitely looks a most natural. As for the front-facing camera, you have the same seven megapixel one from last year. I really would have at least like to see in a wider field of view this year or a small improvement in that, despite the resolution not changing when it comes to audio, no Apple did not bring back the headphone jack this year, but the speakers are improved, and I found the ones on the iPhone, 7 and 7, plus pretty good, with the stereo format having one on the front and one on the bottom, but they are now 25% louder, which also brings better bass and I. Think they sound pretty good, and I've been poking fun at Samsung to go with the same format with one speaker on the bottom and one on the front, because I think it works pretty well, if you're not able to add two speakers to the front, but here's a quick, sound test for you.

One last thing is that the new iPhones also have Bluetooth 5.0 compatibility. So if you're someone who wants to connect two different audio sources to play from one device, then you can do that so now on to battery life, which is once again something that had me disappointed after the keynote, so the iPhone, 7 and 7 plus had pretty good battery life. I was able to get through a day for the most part, but after about a year, I found myself having to charge it more than once a day because of how much I used my phone and kind of the wear that I put on the battery. The iPhone 8 has a battery of around 1820 William hours compared to 1960 on the iPhone 7, whereas the iPhone 8 plus, has a 20 675 million power battery compared to 2900 on the iPhone 7 plus from my early testing, the battery life was approximately the same as what I get on the iPhone 7 and 7 plus. But you have to remember that this is a brand-new phone, and it's just going to slowly get worse from here.

As you use the phone and charge it more I know, wireless charging is one of the most requested features of the new iPhone, but I'm personally, someone who doesn't really use that because I normally would rather just plug my phone into a battery pack and charge it as fast as possible and start using it again. But if you have it in your desk, your nightstand or in your kitchen, then it's something that you could use to charge your phone overnight and not have to worry about it because it definitely takes longer than using a port. If you do go ahead and purchase a fast charging compatible adapter for the iPhone 8 and 8, plus, though you can charge the phone just around 50 percent charge in half an hour which is awesome, it's definitely a parable to the ? charging speed on my 1 + 5. But you have to remember that in terms of William hours, the iPhone 8 +, 8 +, doesn't have that big of a battery when you compare it to other smartphones. So, at the end of the day, what do I think of the iPhone 8 + 8 +? So a lot of you guys like to call me an Apple, fanboy and I do use Apple products all over the place.

I have MacBook iPads IMAX a couple iPhones a lot of iPhones, so you would think that I am biased towards a smartphone, but I have to tell you I'm pretty disappointed this year, and it honestly wasn't that excited about the iPhone 8 or the eight plus. As someone who buys a new smartphone every single year and uses two smartphones at a time from Apple I can tell you that if you maybe use the iPhone 7 and 7 plus for another year, I'd actually be totally fine with that, because I just don't think, there's enough changes this year for anyone to justify getting it. If you already had the iPhone, 7 or 7 plus I mean the wireless charging is cool, the fast charging is cool. The camera is a little better and if you record a ton of video, then I can get why you want to get the iPhone 8 plus, for example, but otherwise it's hard to find one definitive feature as to why you should get this new phone, because I find myself just kind of noting things here and there. But when someone asked me if they should get the iPhone, 8 or 8, plus I kind of have to figure out what they use their phone for and what they prioritize in a smartphone before sort of justifying whether you should get the new phone.

If you add the iPhone 6 or 6s before then, I can see you upgrading to the iPhone, 8 or 8 plus, but from everyday uses. You're not going to notice a crazy difference, and if you really wanted to you, can just save your money and get the 7 or 7 plus and I can tell you. You're still going to be so happy with that purchase. It's still a great phone though, and these are going to be my daily drivers for the next year as an everyday phone, but I just feel like Apple was a bit lazy this year in terms of changing up the design and offering something exciting enough for an Apple fanboy like me to really want to jump on and be excited to use, otherwise hope you guys enjoyed my experience with the iPhone 8 and 8 plus be sure to leave a like on this video and, like I mentioned, to enter the giveaway just make sure you subscribe to the channel and leave a comment below, and you're automatically entered. Also, let me know if you have any other questions of the iPhone 8 + 8 + down in the comment section below and what you think of the phone, but otherwise I'll see you guys in the next video.
