ZTE Blade A3 Prime vs Visible R2 by ZTE - Who Will Win?

Which is better the ZTE blade, a3 prime or the visible r2 by ZTE. Well, in this video we're going to find out hi everyone. This is Kevin here coming at you with my comparison between the ZTE blade, a3 prime versus the visible r2 by ZTE. Now the blade a3 prime was launched about a month ago, so this device is still very new and the visible r2 by ZTE was launched about a year ago and in fact the r2 has since been discontinued. But the point of me making this video is because I'm sure there's a lot of people that currently own a r2 and are considering whether they should upgrade to a blade a3 prime. So if you are one of those people, then this video will be especially helpful.

Now both of these devices are exclusive to visible, and since the r2 is no longer available, you probably won't be able to find one, unless maybe you can find one one bay, but the blade a3 prime is being offered right now from visible's online store. So that is very awesome and in addition to that, there are two different methods to acquire: a blade: a3 prime, you can either pay 99 or you can get it for free by swapping in one of your older android devices, and that's done through visible swap program. Now both of these devices look pretty similar. There are quite a few differences, though, which of course, I'm going to be going over throughout this video. Both phones do feature lcds at 720p.

Now, as far as the display size goes, the blade e3 prime, has a 5.45 inch display and officially the r2 has a 5.5 inch display. However, despite this device having a larger display from what's advertised, the displays look to be exactly the same size, so I believe, when ZTE put out the specifications about the r2, they just rounded up the display size to 5.5 inches. So the displays really are the same exact size. They both feature the same PPI of 295 and they both feature an 18 by 9 aspect ratio. Now, as far as the form factor here, you can see, both phones do feature fully.

Rectangular displays with no sort of notch or hole punch in the way, unlike many other phones that have come out this year. These devices also feature squared off corners, which is another rare thing to find, which is actually something that I like quite a bit. So both phones do feature a bit of an old school design, but when you are looking into getting a device in the entry level, category you're typically not going to find the most modern design characteristics. So in general I think both phones look fine, I don't mind it. Of course, you can see to that they both feature pretty thick bezels in the top and bottom as well.

So that's another compromise that you're going to have to deal with, considering that these are lower end phones. Now, as far as the display quality goes, I think both phones do have good. Looking displays. Typically, ZTE does put good display panels in their devices. However, the r2 does appear to have a brighter display of the two.

Now I do have the brightness cranked up to 100 percent on both phones and in my opinion I just feel like the r2 does look a bit brighter now, both phones feature 5, megapixel. Front-Facing cameras definitely check out my full video reviews of both phones to see photo and video samples from them, with the blade a3 prime. We are getting 32 gigabytes of internal storage and with the r2 we're getting 16 gigabytes of internal storage, so we're getting twice the amount of internal storage with the blade a3 prime, but both phones do feature micro, SD card expansion. But despite that, I certainly do applaud the blade a3 prime for having at least a bit more internal storage, because nothing compares to the good old-fashioned internal storage. Now both devices do feature fingerprint sensors on the back, which is great.

You don't see that very often with devices in this price range, but that was very fast there with the blade, a3 prime and then with the r2. That was very quick as well. Both devices do also feature face, unlock. It's called face, authentication with the blade, a3 prime and then with the visible r2. It's called face verify, so that's another feature that you typically don't find with lower end devices like these now both phones feature single camera setups on the rear.

However, there are some differences so with the blade a3 prime we're getting an 8 megapixel rear camera compared to a 13 megapixel rear camera with the visible r2. Another interesting thing is that, with the blade a3 prime, we are getting a dual flash setup, so you are, in theory, going to get brighter flash from the a3 prime. So that's pretty interesting as well, not really sure what made them decide to go that route by putting an extra flash on the back, but I certainly don't have any complaints about it either. Now neither of these two phones offer portrait mode. So if you do like portrait mode, you have to look for something a bit higher end as far as the internal specifications go with both phones we're getting two gigabytes of ram and with the ZTE blade a3 prime we're getting the MediaTek hello a22, which is the same processor as the blade a7 prime, and with the visible r2 we're getting the Qualcomm snapdragon 425.

Now neither of those processors are anything too impressive, but in my opinion I feel like the snapdragon 425 is slightly better. Now we are going to do a side-by-side speed test comparison later on in the video. So I'll. Let you be the judge of that, but I'm not crazy about the hello a22. It's not like it's terrible, but it's also nothing special either.

I do feel like, though, for a good portion of the population out there. That processor will get the job done, at least when it comes to simple tasks. Like light social media, browsing the web, doing phone calls and doing text messages. But if you are looking to do anything too intense on the device, then you most likely will run into slow-downs with the hello a22. Now video recording, with both devices maxes out at 1080p.

Now there are some pretty big differences when it comes to the batteries, so the blade a3 prime actually has a removable battery which is pretty interesting and that battery is 2660 William hours and the r2 does feature an internal battery with a higher capacity of 3200. So you are going to be getting better battery life in general with the r2. So keep that in mind as well. Now I know that some people will mention that, with the blade a3 prime, it is kind of nice having a removable battery, because in theory you could buy additional batteries and then swap them out in case. Maybe the phone runs out of battery during the day.

However, the issue with that is that I don't know of anywhere where you can buy additional batteries for the blade a3 prime. So you can't really do that if you can't buy any extra batteries now we're getting a very similar software experience. Here on both phones, however, with the blade e3 prime, we are getting android 10 and with the r2 we're getting android 9 pi. Now the r2 actually did receive an update from 8.1 Oreo to pi several months ago, and I'm pretty sure that's going to be the last major software update that we do get with the r2. In fact, I was pretty surprised as it is that we got pi in the device.

So if you do want the latest and greatest version of android at least for now, then you're going to have to go with the blade a3 prime. That being said, though, the actual user experience is pretty similar you're getting all the same pre-installed apps I have added quite a few of my own applications on both phones to use as I test them, but you're getting a pretty similar software experience. So it's not like by having android 10 with the blade a3 prime you're, getting too many benefits at all. Now, taking a closer look at the actual hardware here of the two devices, I already talked a lot about the front panels. Overall, they do look pretty similar.

At first glance, but the differences do become more apparent after we look at the other parts of the phones. Now taking a look on the left side of both devices with the blade a3 prime, we have nothing and with the r2 we do have the slot for the micro SD card and sim card. You can see. We have this nice silver band running around the device. The phone is all plastic, though minus the display.

So keep that in mind now taking a look on the right side of both phones. They both have the volume button and power button, then, on the top, they both feature: the 3.5 millimeter, headphone, jack and noise, cancelling microphone and then on the bottom. We have a pretty similar setup as well, with both devices featuring a microphone and an USB port for charging and data transfer. So it is very nice to see, though, that both of these phones do feature USB-C, considering that they are both extremely low-end devices. I'm certainly happy ZTE decided to go that route versus giving the micro USB.

Now you can see. Also, we have a nice cutout here to remove the back on the blade a3 prime and from my experience it's been very easy to take the back off and on that can't be said, though, for other phones that I've used with removable backs. So I'm really happy about that and then taking a look at the back side of both devices you can see overall, the layout is pretty similar. We do have the speakers on the back on both, and then I already talked about the camera modules with the fingerprint sensors as well. There is no visible branding on the blade a3 prime, whereas the visible r2 does have visible branding.

I mean the phone literally has the word visible in the name, but we do have visible branding right there. Now. I think both materials here look nice in the back. Furthermore, I like how neither of these two materials pick up fingerprints, which is great. However, I'm a big fan of this sandstone finish here on the r2.

It almost kind of feels like sandstone as well. So I like that a lot, and I'd like to see more phones in the future feature. This material, but I also like the material here in the blade a3 prime, as well as I said my favorite thing about it- is that it doesn't pick up fingerprints. Let's now do a speed test comparison on both devices, I'm going to start by pulling up. Google Chrome one two three go, and it looks like the blade a3 prime was first to pull up chrome and again in this side by side.

Here you can see that the visible r2 does have the brighter display of the two phones, which is pretty interesting. Let's now go to ESPN. com123 go, and it looks like it was a little quicker on the blade, a3 prime as well, not too much quicker, though you can see some images popped up here, and we're still waiting on the r2 there. We go images popped up on the r2, so it certainly seems like the blade a3 prime is quicker, but not by too much. Let's now go to endgadget.

com one two three go, and it looks like the blade a3 prime is also quicker. At pulling up. End gadget looks like the video is starting to load. First, on the blade a3 prime as well so not too bad scrolling is decently smooth on both. Of course, these are not flagship devices, nor do they claim to be so.

You have to keep your expectations in check. Let's go to this article, one two three go, and it looks like again in this example, the blade e3 prime is quicker at pulling up the article, so very cool there. So in conclusion, which of these devices is the better choice now, of course, you can't really buy a r2 right now, so if you are a first time, buyer at least for a visible device, then out of these two, the blade a3 prime, is going to be the most available of the two. But that being said, if you have a r2 right now, and you're looking to potentially upgrade to a blade, a3 prime, I feel like there are some benefits with this device. Really the biggest benefit here is that we're getting twice the amount of internal storage.

Another benefit is that we're getting android 10 as the software and then finally, it does seem like in real life usage. The MediaTek hello a22 does deliver slightly better performance than the Qualcomm snapdragon 425, but not by much, and especially over the long term. I've heard that MediaTek processors tend to slow down a little faster compared to Qualcomm, but again that's kind of nitpicking, especially considering that both processors in both phones are pretty low end. So the point is: is that if you are considering upgrading from a visible r2 to the ZTE blade a3 prime, I don't feel like there's too much of an upgrade. It is nice, though, that you are getting twice the amount of internal storage, but you might want to consider going on visible's website and looking at some other devices that are maybe a little more expensive than the blade e3 prime and maybe going with one of those instead, but regardless.

I don't think the blade e3 prime, is a bad choice. Definitely check out my other videos about this phone to learn even more about it, but in general I think it's a pretty decent option for the price by ZTE. However, from my experience I feel like the blade a7 prime is a bit better, so if the blade is 7 prime is still available at the time that you're watching this, then I would consider going for that instead, so a lot of different options here, a lot of different choices, but hopefully this video helped clear things up a little, but I hope you enjoyed it. Give the video a thumbs up, and I'll, see you in the next one.
