ZTE Axon 30 Ultra 5G Unboxing and Camera Test

This video is sponsored by Lear, hey, what's going on people, I hope you guys are doing good. Today I got a little box right here. I got a phone inside this box, we're going to uh, grab some coffee and take a look at what phone is inside this box. I have a feeling, I know what it is and by the title. Furthermore, I'm sure you guys already do too. So, lets uh, let's go ahead and grab some coffee and unbox this phone all right.

So we got some coffee, coconut cream, pie, coffee, if that, so, let's go ahead and uh open up the box here and take a look at what phone is inside here. So we have the ZTE axon 30 ultra really excited about this foam. It takes a lot of features from the galaxy s21 ultra, which happens to be my favorite android device. In fact, I would go as far as saying it's like my favorite smartphone on the market, so let's go ahead and open up this box and take a look at what comes with the ZTE axon 30 ultra all right. Let's see what we got so right here on the top, we have the phone we'll come back to that in a minute, then we have our paperwork right here, some bathroom reading material.

We have a case- a nice little silicone case is included, always appreciate when companies do that, even though it's not the highest quality case. The case is better than no case. Then we have our charging brick right here, which actually has some heft to it. That thing is hefty yeah, that's a hefty charging brick, and we have our USB cable here and in the last box we have an USB to 3.5 millimeter adapter for plugging in headphones, which is definitely nice. It's nice to see ZTE, including a charging brick and an adapter in the box, where a lot of other companies have seemed to uh done away with that.

Let's go back to the phone. This is the ZTE axon 30 ultra and looks like a silver color yep peel this off. Actually it's black. It's like a gunmetal black. It's got! Frosted glass on the backside looks really, really nice, and it feels awesome in the hand.

It's got like a candy bar design, similar to the galaxy s21 ultra, so we have three cameras back here. Well, four cameras: if you include the telephoto, it says three times: 64 megapixels and we'll go ahead and power it on, and I'm going to go ahead and get this phone set up. The axon 30 ultra 5g features the snapdragon 888 processors, it's a 5, nanometer 5g, ready processor. It has 8 gigabytes of ram the model that I have comes in at 128 gigabytes of storage, but apparently it can go all the way up to one terabyte and 16 gigabytes of ram. If you choose that option, Lear has several awesome micro SD cards that are not only great for action, cameras and drones, but also smartphones.

The Lear 633x is an affordable option for smartphones, with great speeds capable of 95. Megabytes per second transfer speeds. It's perfect for 1080p and 4k video recordings pricing starts at just 10 dollars for a 64 gigabyte card, which makes it one of the most affordable options on the market. If you're looking for versatility, speed and high capacity, the 1066x might be the one for you. It's one of the most versatile micro SD cards on the market due to its a2 rating.

This means it can seamlessly be used in cameras, action cameras, drones and smartphones alike, without the need of reformatting every single time. Additionally, when using it with a smartphone, the a2 rating makes it safe and reliable to store and run apps packing transfer speeds of 160 megabytes per. Second, it's able to keep up with the most modern smartphones, drones and action cameras that can record 5k, 6k and even 8k video make sure to hit the links in the description and check out Lear's current promotions to grab a card for yourself. So I was just looking at the display on this phone and I have to say I'm really impressed it's a 1080p display. It gets fairly bright.

I mean under direct sunlight. I can see it being an issue, but since it's so overcast today, I'm not having any problems whatsoever, but the key to this display is the fact that it's 144 hertz in terms of its refresh rate, which makes it great for gaming. It is super smooth, it's very responsive. It has an in-display fingerprint sensor, which is nice, and it's protected by gorilla glass 5 on the front and the back, even though it's not victim, it should be enough for your everyday wear and tear the display. Is nice and sharp.

It supports hdr10 plus content, which is definitely a plus. The only downside that I can think of just right off the bat are the curved edges. They are very, very curved, and I've already had some accidental presses, which you know, I'm not a fan of curved displays. If you are then you're going to love this, because it does have that waterfall effect and also has like a 91 screen to body ratio, which is definitely nice, because it's practically all display, but the bad thing is, you will get some accidental presses um at least I have but uh. I guess it just depends on how you use your phone and what you like, so here's the axon 30 ultra next to the galaxy s21 ultra and right off the bat you can see the camera module on the s21 ultra is bigger and the phone as a whole is also bigger and the s21 ultra is slightly heavier, and it's also a little wider.

But you can see overall, the design is very similar, but I have to say I do prefer the design on the s21 ultra. It just feels and looks a little better, and it doesn't have as prominent of a curved display which I'm a huge fan of, but overall for the price. The axon 30 ultra is really, really nice and speaking of that price, this phone comes in at 750, bucks, and you're, getting quite a bit of value inside this phone. For that price, I mean, when you look at it and compare it to competing flagship phones, it's really on par with something like the galaxy s21 plus, which is a more expensive phone. And, of course, this is the starting price.

If you want the one terabyte 16 gigabytes of ram model, it's going to cost you a little more, but eight gigabytes of ram 128 gigabytes of storage for 750 bucks. That's pretty good value. The axon 30 ultra has a 4 600 William hour battery, which is plenty large enough to get you through a full day, although I'll need to test this further, so stay tuned for my full review. If you want a detailed look at battery life now to go along with that large battery size, we have 65 watt fast charging, which is why the charger that's included in the box is so heavy. So um, that's really nice, that's better than the galaxy s21 series in the note series, so 65 watt fast charging for the win.

Now I know I've been hyping up this phone and talking about a lot of its positives, but there are some negatives that you should be aware of and just off of my first impressions, this phone does not have an IP rating, so you're going to get no water resistance. That was a huge bug that flew right in front of it. Did the freaking autofocus pick up on that bug? It was like a Game of Thrones dragon. Just flew right in front of my freaking camera you're not going to get any water resistance, I'm not saying that it won't survive, but in terms of certification there is none, so there's no guarantee. Also, there is no SD card slot.

It does have a dual sim card slot, which is nice but um. I only use one sim card on my phone and I would much rather have a SD card slot instead of dual sim functionality. But that's just me. Let me know in the comment section which do you prefer dual sim or single sim with SD card slot. Also, there is no wireless charging but in my opinion the 65 watt fast charging kind of makes up for this in terms of the camera array.

On the back side we're looking at a quad system, we have three 64 megapixel cameras, a standard, a wide and ultra-wide and then an 8 megapixel, telephoto, uh, telescope camera and on the front we have a 16 megapixel front-facing selfie camera. So what I'm going to do is I'm going to go around and get some shots. It's kind of overcast right now, the sun's going down. So it's like perfect uh time, for you know, smartphone photos, and I'm going to gather some video as well, because this does shoot 8k video at 30 frames per second, but make sure to stay tuned for more camera comparisons, maybe one towards the galaxy s21 ultra or if you want to see a dedicated camera video on this phone. Let me know in the comment section, but yeah enjoy the pictures enjoy the video, and I'll catch you guys in the next one take care.

I don't know why I said, take care. That was weird, probably not going to say that again. That was just strange. So you.
