Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite Unboxing and Hands-on

Hey guys, I'm Michael josh, your gadget, matchmaker helping you find the right device to match your needs. I've been reading the comments, and I know a lot of you have been asking that I start featuring budget phones again. I know it's been a while, but don't worry because Xiaomi just announced the 11 flight, a sub 300 euro phones in its 2021 lineup. That includes the 11 and the just announced me 11 pro and me 11 ultra. Is this a good phone to buy, and can it compete with the also very impressive Samsung Galaxy 852? Well keep watching this is our Xiaomi mi 11, lite, unboxing and hands on while the 11 ultra is clearly the most exciting phone from Xiaomi this year, review devices haven't arrived yet, which is all right, because we have time to focus on this phone. Let's unbox it shall we nondescript white box with the text 11 light printed on it.

Lifting this up. We get another box containing the following: sim tray, ejection tool, clear jelly case, a screen protector, that's nice, USB-C to headphone jack adapter and a warranty card next up. It's the 11 lite feels solid, we'll unwrap this later and inside here, charging essentials, a 33 watt power, brick and an USB a2c cable. I like those red accents. So this is the 11 lite a bit disappointing.

If you ask me, while it shares some design cues from the me11 like a similar camera module, it doesn't take its best parts for one. The glossy finish is too much of a fingerprint magnet for it to be usable. Without a case. The me11 has such a nice matte coating and a lovely color to it. It would have been nice if, at the very least, it came with a similar case to the one I got, bundled with the 11.

, also its flat back makes it harder to grip. Considering how wide the phone is. A similar complaint I've had with the iPhone 12 Pro max. That said, it feels hefty enough to disguise itself as premium. It just doesn't look current.

I don't like how the display kind of jets out from the frame and how all of this is reminiscent of a phone from a few years ago. From a practicality standpoint, though, there are a few things that will satisfy the needs and wants of its intended target market, there's an IR blaster up top, and if you pop out the sim tray you'll find it's a hybrid slot for either two NATO sims or one NATO sim and a micro SD card. There's also a fingerprint sensor baked into the power button, which is fast and responsive and more reliable than an under display. One. Like many smartphone companies, Xiaomi's strategy with the mi 11 series is to offer different phones with different specs to meet the needs of different folks at different price points.

While the 11 is your standard model for most fans, the 11 ultra the one with the bleeding edge tech for techies. The 11 lite comes with paired down specs good enough to meet the demands of the everyday consumer and in terms of essentials, it's got a decent amount of good stuff going for it. This 4g model that I'm reviewing is powered by a mid-tier, Qualcomm, snapdragon, 732g processor, there's also a 5g model. It's also got a 6.55 OLED dot display with a full HD plus resolution and a 90 hertz refresh rate, although it's set to 60 hertz out of the box, six or eight gigabytes of ram and 64 or 128 gigabytes of storage. Now, while this phone doesn't have a lot of the flashy specs that higher end phones have like and snapdragon triple a processor, a 120 hertz display, when I say pared down, it doesn't mean that this phone is going to give you some compromises that you're going to feel with everyday tasks like surfing the web or browsing social media.

Even playing games. The mi 11 lite has enough performance power to get the job done. What you should pay attention to is that 64 gigabytes of storage, which I don't think is enough- spend a bit more for the 128 gigabyte model. If you can afford it, there are three cameras on the mi 11 light: a 64, megapixel main camera, an 8 megapixel ultra-wide camera and a 5 megapixel macro camera. Let's look at some samples.

Here's one taken using the macro camera. It's the stamen of one of my tulips, not a bad job. Actually, although I wish that third camera would have just been a zoom lens that way, more people could use it more often the phone doesn't have a telephoto camera, but there's 2x zoom, and it does a decent job, even if it's just digital zoom using the main lens. In fact, in this comparison versus the 11, I think it did a better job of my Lego, windsurfer or in this shot of signage above a church entrance during the day. The ultra-wide angle lens does a decent job, even in this backlit situation, but the superiority of the mi 11's camera is evident in this low light test notice, how more light it's able to bring in now.

Let's take a look at photoshop using the main lens. First, let's revisit a subject: I've used many times in sample photos comment down below if it looks familiar, this hydrant against a newly painted mural notice how the me11 lights photos have more punch to them. Well, it's pretty consistent in all of these samples. Actually, I've always wanted a disco ball, but not sure where, to put it found this one at a restaurant in the neighborhood again you'll find the me11 lights. Photos have more contrast.

It's the same here in this wide shot of my tulips. Alright, I shot this photo, particularly because of the paint peeling off from the wall thought it might be good to zoom in to see how much detail each phone is able to capture. So let's do that notice? There's much more detail in the mi 11's photo, not surprising because of its 108 megapixel sensor. Now for some night shots using night mode here notice again, the mi 11 brings in more light for the better picture overall. Finally, we have this shot of a Chinese new year: bull, belated Kong, fat choir.

By the way, if you celebrate, neither phone did really well when there was hardly any light. In fact, both shots are soft and not very good right. Let's not forget the 20 megapixel selfie camera up front here, I'll, let you be the judge I might be biased, because that's me JK as long as you're fine, with some skin softening it's a decent selfie camera. I personally don't mind as long as it makes me look good. It's also wide enough to fit in more than two people in the frame the mi 11 lite comes with a 4 250 William hour battery.

I only had time to use the phone for a full day, and it got me through it, with average use and the 90 hertz display turned on the phone chips with a 33 watt charger in the box. In my tests charging an empty phone, I got to 19 in 10 minutes, 57 and 30 and 100 in less than an hour. Xiaomi's android skin built on android 11 is mini 12. And it's one of those oses you'll either love or hate. It's no vanilla android, but it's clean and looks good and there are plenty of nifty software features like being able to run multiple versions of an app having a space for work and a separate one for play and floating windows, or even small stuff like being able to tap the screen to wake it up or double press on the volume down button to quickly launch the camera.

So is the Xiaomi mi 11 lite your gadget match, I think, overall, for what it does. The mi 11 lite is a very good smartphone. My problem, though, is that Xiaomi is very inconsistent when it comes to pricing and don't start converting the Chinese price with the international price, because once international phones are released, pricing is very different. The conversion rate doesn't really matter there and even among international units, prices vary greatly from market to market. There's also that bit about them announcing a 749 euro me 11 only to change pricing last minute to 7.99 and that went unexplained but watch this space, though under 400, it's fair to expect more and this year many smartphone brands are going to deliver phones at this price point that I'd recommend the 399 iPhone SE, the 350 dollar Pixel 4a and Samsung's galaxy a52 and a52 5g, which should come to the US very soon, but retails in Europe for 349 and 429 euros respectively. The latter I have a feeling is going to be the mid-range champ of 2021, but I'd consider the 11 lite 2, especially for its fast charging, competent cameras and pretty useful software features.

I just wouldn't rush to get one right now and that was our Xiaomi me 11, lite, unboxing and hands on for more videos like this one.
