Subtitled by Paulo Montenegro - paulomontenegro@hotmail. com. br If there's one thing that Xiaomi loves, it's launching a cheaper variant of its flagship phones. The Mi 10 is no exception and here we have its Lite version that brings mid-tier hardware and tries to offer a better value for the money. Here we open a parenthesis to point out that this analysis is being carried out thanks to the Speed Cell 97 partner store on Avenida Paulista, so if you want to stop by to check out the Mi 10 Lite offers, the address and link for online purchase are down below. Now let's check if it is worth sacrificing the cutting edge hardware of the Mi 10 and if this is a better purchase.
The Mi 10 Lite has a totally different design from its more expensive brother, the screen has no curvature at the edges and the hole for the selfie camera gives way to the traditional drop shaped notch found on older phones. The rear is also different - the cameras are grouped in blocks, evading the vertical layout of the more expensive model. If you were waiting for a metal phone, Xiaomi decided to cut costs and adopted a plastic body on the Mi 10 Lite. At least the rear is made of glass and has Gorilla Glass 5 protection. The good news is that this was the only cut that Xiaomi made, the infrared emitter was kept, there is a headphone jack, NFC and even a biometric reader under the screen.
The Mi 10 Lite is a complete mid-ranger with everything you would expect from a good phone. The OLED screen is the same as some recent releases in the Redmi series you have almost 6.5" with Full HD+ resolution. The panel used has good quality, having a great level of brightness, contrast and flawless wide viewing angles. It has a mode for external use that force the screen brightness to the maximum and helps you see better on sunny days. By default, the Mi 10 Lite enables the automatic calibration mode that adjusts color based on the lighting of the site.
If you're looking for the best representation of reality, so the Original Mode is the one that delivers the best calibration. There is still support for HDR10 that works with YouTube, Amazon Prime and Netflix. What could be better is the sound part - there’s no stereo sound like on the Mi 10. The only speaker next to the USB-C port delivers sound with decent power. the sound quality is good enough to play videos with clarity but struggles in music for having almost nonexistent mids, overshadowed by excessive treble.
the Mi 10 Lite comes with Snapdragon 765G, not the Snapdragon 865 of the Mi 10. The difference in performance is great, as expected. Not only in our standardized multitasking test, but also in benchmarks. Compared to others with this hardware, we see that the Mi 10 Lite could be a little better. It was a little slow when opening applications and games making it clear that more attention from Xiaomi is needed when it comes to the software optimization - at least in synthetic tests we have expected scores and in AnTuTu it even manages to beat the Motorola Edge.
In games there is nothing to worry. The Mi 10 Lite ran everything as it should. In Call of Duty it was possible to play at maximum quality with the greatest fluidity and in PUBG with HDR we got high fps. All the other games we tested ran smoothly. The Mi 10 Lite does not have an impressive battery with its little more than 4,000 mAh but it can last a whole day without difficulty.
It even manages to outperform rivals with bigger batteries, what shows that Xiaomi has decided to optimize the MIUI in favor of the battery and not the performance. Compared to the Mi 10, it doesn't make a big difference. The most expensive model delivers an average of 10% more autonomy, however, it spends less time in the outlet. Compared to rivals of the Mi 10 Lite, its time of almost 1.5 hours to recharge is not bad. With a quick charge of 15 minutes it is possible to recover 1/4 of its battery.
In terms of software, there is nothing new - we have the same features that you already find in other mid-rangers and flagships with Android 10 and MIUI 12. The universal remote control application comes pre-installed for you to use the phone's infrared emitter to control different types of electronics in your home. The biometric reader works well and features several unlock animations to choose from. In AOD it is possible to select a light effect for the edges of the screen that light up when you receive a notification, even if the Mi 10 Lite does not have a curved screen as in Mi 10. With regard to the general layout, you get some interesting little extras as a panel of quick shortcuts to the left of the lock screen.
There you can organize and control your Mi Remote and smart devices, and also easily turn on the flashlight. Forget the powerful 108 MP camera of the Mi 10 and Mi Note 10 - here you have the more traditional 48 MP camera found on the cheapest Redmi models. Complementing the set is an ultra-wide, a macro and a depth sensor. Don't be disappointed by the "low resolution", the Mi 10 Lite is capable of taking great pictures on sunny days. The vivid colors and the low noise level result in great quality images for you to waste on social networks.
As expected, it is possible to use all 48 MP of the camera with the dedicated mode, but do not expect much higher photos the difference is minimal and you will lose more space, even more in a cell phone that does not allow to expand storage. However, at night we notice less noise in the photos, so it may be worth it in some cases. There is an artificial intelligence mode that recognizes the types of scenarios and exaggerates the saturation to leave everything out of reality - some may even enjoy it, but the result is quite artificial. The ultra-wide is that it could be a little better; it is still possible to take good pictures with the widest lens but the quality drops dramatically, especially indoors and in dim lighting. The good news is that the Mi 10 Lite does not commit to taking photos at night like most middlemen.
It does not suffer from capturing what is in the dark and still offers a very efficient night mode that does not compromise photos with excessive noise. The macro camera is not really exciting, but it should be enough for a lot of people. It even shoots cool photos, and at least it has autofocus that helps a lot when capturing small details. Blurring works well and rarely fails. The Mi 10 Lite does well in selfies, whether in the sun, in the shade or even indoors.
Its front camera has a small focal aperture, but does not suffer in dark places. The background blur works well in any type of situation and no matter how much you disable HDR, it doesn’t really burst the background of the photos. He shoots in 4K only with the main rear camera; the quality is good, as well as the audio capture. The focus is agile, except when shooting in Full HD at 60 fps. By default it registers few shakes, but there is a super stabilization mode that really makes a difference but cuts the edges of the video reducing the useful area.
It is possible to shoot with the rear and front at the same time and there is also an option to shoot in slow motion with the front. They are cool extras and make the Mi 10 Lite camcorder more complete than its rivals. Oh, and let's not forget to talk about 5G - as irrelevant as it is at the moment here in Brazil, what we can say is that the Mi 10 Lite is a good intermediary for those looking for a more affordable option with the next generation of mobile internet. Is it worth buying or are there more interesting alternatives like the Motorola Edge? Xiaomi's was slower in our multi-tasking test, but it's just as good at photos. Your battery lasts longer and recharges faster, in addition to taking better photos and videos.
If you don't care so much for the 5G, the LG Velvet may be a more elegant alternative. The Korean model is faster, its battery lasts the same and also records good photos only loses in darker scenarios for that of Xiaomi. Is it worth saving or is the Mi 10 more business? The Lite is on average 50% cheaper, of course there is a big difference in performance but in the general set it is not at all absurd. The Mi 10 Lite will meet the needs of the majority. The Mi 9 Lite was quite successful among Brazilians and we can expect the Mi 10 Lite to follow the same path.
It is a phone with a good set and affordable 5G, its screen displays great colors, the battery yields well, its cameras do a great job and will still have cool extras. Only the MicroSD slot and a dedicated zoom camera were missing. It has not yet been officially launched here, but it can now be found for less than R$ 3,000 in the national market, which is much more affordable than the R$ 5,000 you will pay for Mi 10. And as we said at the beginning, offers for the Mi 10 Lite you can find in the links below. Take the opportunity to comment on what you think of the set of the new Xiaomi intermediary.
I'll wrap up here, a big hug and see you next time.
