THIS is the phone that SAMSUNG should be SCARED of!

Back at CES 2020 a company who's been around and is known for a lot of other things threw their hat into the mobile arena. Let me tell you something: this is. This could definitely be a game-changer for everybody. Now a lot of people are gonna. Think that I'm crazy for this, but I'm gonna, explain why TCL is a company you need to keep an eye on and if they're smart so should Samsung. This is the beginning of something very interesting.

If it goes well, you could see a new contender for Android smartphones and one that could one day be one of the largest smartphone manufacturers in the world. Don't believe me well, there's plenty of facts to back it up, and I'll. Tell you what they are right after this. What players welcome back and for all you knew people welcome. My name is Travis and me.

Do tech videos every single week and have a blast doing or if that sounds like fun to you, sit back, relax and enjoy the video anything I talk about will be in the description below, but for now, let's just get into the video. So I was at CES this year in Vegas had a good time, and one of the very first things I did was go to a press conference by TCL. Now, most of you know, TCL from their televisions at least that's how I knew them. I mean they're all over the place. You go to Amazon, and they sell a ton of TCL televisions, and they were announcing their brand-new smartphones.

Now this isn't actually their first foray into mobile phones ever heard of a Patel blackberry, the android version. You know the palm, that's that's TCL stuff, and they're about to release multiple phones, including a 5g phone. This year they sent over the 10 L, which is their kind of budget based version of the new phones that are coming out this year and I got a chance to play around with it now. This is not a review, it's kind of a first impression and a larger look at what this phone actually means for the entire industry, and if your Samsung, why you should be paying really close attention now before I get too far into what this phone is. And let me tell you it's beautiful.

Looking at the back of this thing, you know I love blue. They send me a blue one, so I'm super happy about that. This thing is beautiful. It's absolutely fantastic! I'll get into some specs of this phone again. This is the lower end version of the phones they're coming out with this year, including a 5g phone, but I want to talk a little more about TCL the company and why this is actually a phone that Samsung needs to be concerned about, because it's not just this particular phone.

Its other phones that might be coming before. We talk about the mobile portion of their company. Lets real quick talk about what you mostly know them for there are televisions, and this is why this is important, because it wasn't that long ago, that TCL wasn't even a player in the television game, and now they're dominating TCL entered the North American market back in 2013, so believe it or not. Before that they weren't really a manufacturer that people knew of in North America. It was Vizio, remember those guys like they're still around, but you know they're not like, as dominant as they once were.

Vizio came into the market selling budget level television and did so many that they ended up becoming one of the biggest manufacturers in the world. Well, TCL decided to come in 2013, basically do the same thing so for selling mostly online, especially on Amazon, and that's why you may have seen so many of them, especially during Black Friday sales, so TCL came in and just started, kicking butt right off the bat selling. So many TVs that from 2013 to now in 2020 in seven years they are now the second-biggest manufacturer of television. This is crazy. In seven years, remember television has been made for a very long time, but in seven years TCL went from nobody to nipping on the heels of Samsung, even crazier in 2019 in March and July, they sold more televisions than Samsung.

They were the number one selling television for two months in 2019. They have only been around really for seven years all that to say that TCL is no stranger to coming into I, don't know something that's been established, an established, manufacturing, kind of bully's club and then reckons shop, and they're, no stranger to go in and get Samsung. Those two right now are battling for television superiority. Number one is Samsung number two is TCL, with TCL continuing to close the gap every year, they're selling, more and more televisions. Why am I talking about televisions because guess what their new smartphones are? Incredibly budget minded all the phones that they're supposed to release this year, including the 5g, are all supposed to be under $500.

Let me say that again: $500 for a 5g phone and every other phone that comes out under that enter the 10 l of the most budget of those, and you start to look at some capabilities of this phone, and you start to wonder: wait a minute. You're saying this is under $500. Wait until I tell you how much this thing is. It actually blew me away. TCL is known for their displays, and they're definitely touting that with this phone now this particular phone is not an OLED display.

Their pro will be, but it's a very good LCD and, to be honest, when I looked at it, I didn't really I couldn't tell that it was LCD they're using something called next vision, where they're trying to use AI to actually make the screen. Look better, it's pretty crazy! Actually, if you ask me they have SDR ? HDR software, which allows them to take a standard, dynamic range and convert it in real time to high dynamic range. I looked at some YouTube videos and I mean it looks a little better to me. I actually looked at some HDR content on this phone, and it looked phenomenal. This particular phone has a 6.53 Full, HD plus screen with a 91% screen to body ratio. Now this is not using a top-end processor, it's using a Snapdragon which I'll tell you here in a minute, but obviously, when you find out the price of this thing, you're going to be ok with what processor uses.

Now it's a reading mode and has adaptive tone it does all the cool things that you're used to smarting phone displays doing. They really want to take pride in their displays. Now this phone actually comes with a case which I was happy to put on and the screen protector built in again when you find out how much this phone is. It kind of blows me away. This has multiple cameras, including a 16 megapixel selfie camera, a 48 megapixel normal camera, a defense, sensing camera, a macro camera and a wide-angle camera now I remember when they first announced these phones, one of the things I said to my friends that were there at CES, is that TCL has to nail the camera ammo above everything.

Android phones just work. Well, you have to nail the camera. Did they sort of here? Are some samples, I will say this when you have proper lighting, it looks pretty good. Actually, some of these pictures in a very well lit outdoors came out. Okay and even the macro shots here check this out.

I'm super close to this thing and if I think it looks fine. What do you think tell me in the comments below I will say this, though the selfie mode is a little aggressive on the both? Now, of course, it doesn't have that motion that depth-sensing camera on the front. So it's just doing it completely in software, and I'm not super overwhelmed by how it looks, I, probably wouldn't ever use it, but you notice here actually using the rear facing cameras, you can get a pretty good both effect. They are loading. This thing up with software tricks galore, but all of that doesn't matter because here is why this phone matters and should matter to Samsung this phone, which has a fingerprint sensor on the back multiple cameras, a great display, a beautiful look, it doesn't feel cheap is well under $500.

Now, when I first started using this I totally believe this was a $400 phone. I thought that this was the 400. The pro would be like 450 and then 5g would be 500. That's why I thought it would be. I was way off this phone when it retails will be two hundred and fifty dollars.

Bro TCL is coming for everyone's neck. Now, for $250 there's no way I can tell someone to not buy this phone like this again. This is not a review, but for $250 the quality is here: I have tested a lot of really cheap phones. None of them in this price range were as good as this for $250 and again, this marks a shot across Samsung's bow. If they do this like they did with the televisions, we have a new game.

It is game on, and I've been talking about this all year.2020 is they battle sage for under $500? Smartphones I've been talking about this. For a long time forget about flagships. The battle will be won and lost at this five to six hundred dollar range and under that I didn't even see this one coming. Let's think about OnePlus, that's actually how they were known as the flagship killer for a cheap price. OnePlus was doing great.

They had a lot of people that were really rooting for them and bought and really reviewed their phones very positively, but somewhere along the way, OnePlus kind of lost their initial way where they were the flagship killer for a budget price. They are now basically a flagship for a flagship price and TCL is now going to be in the spot that OnePlus used to be. If they do what they are able to do in televisions and stay at that price, they could dominate, and I mean dominate sales, so you're, probably thinking okay Travis. But this these phones are gonna, beat the s20 line of phones. Well, they don't have to because you see Samsung's best-selling phones are not the S series of phones, they're, the series of phones, their budget line.

TCL is poised to take that crown away. That's a big deal. What if TCL comes in and eats Samsung's lunch and sells more phones than Samsung's a series of phones, trust me that is more worrisome to Samsung than them ever losing the flagship crown much more worrisome and I. Don't think they're going to make the mistake. OnePlus did OnePlus made better phones, but for a lot more money, TCO I think is here to take over the mid-market and I.

Think that's a really smart move. There are so many more people now that are going to be looking to pay less money for their phones. Heck I even made a bunch of videos about going on Amazon and buying renewed phones. If you haven't watched that series of videos I'll leave it on a link in the description below you have to watch it if you're on a budget and looking for a flagship, that's what you want to do, but if TCL comes out of nowhere and really delivers, they might be the new king of budget. Now it's still early.

This has probably got pre-release software on it. There are some issues with the camera. It's not perfect, doesn't nail it, but for $250 I literally, would tell you absolutely. You could buy this phone and rock with it, especially the secondary phone or a starter phone for your kids, or something like that for $250, maybe you're going on a trip overseas, and you don't want to risk losing or breaking your phone well. Both I would totally buy one of these.

At the end of the day, this marks a shift in smartphones. The chances that TCL could be a complete player where they don't even really exist is totally possible. They've done it in televisions. This is an exciting time to be a consumer in smartphones. But what do you think? Do you think TCL can bring the pain with their new 10 series of phones, I have to tell you, man we're for $250 I'm, really encouraged? I can't wait to see their higher-end phones I believe this marks the beginning of TCL.

Now, if this doesn't sell? Well, maybe they go away, but I got to tell you they're off to a heck of a start, peace and love and by the way, watch these Amazon renewed videos, you're going to love them. See you next time.
