The Google Pixel 4a - Unboxing & First Look

Hello everyone- this is mike welcome to my channel mike the tech-savvy. I've been waiting for this moment for well exactly two months now and finally, I got my hands on a brand new, sealed, Pixel 4a device. I had to travel about 200 kilometers round trip for it and, of course it was bought from the gray market. So no warranty. I hope it was worth it and, to be honest, I hope that it's not an orange inside or some potatoes, so yeah, let's get started um, let's check out the box. First, we have a pretty nice design here very similar to what we had with the 3a on the right side we have, or rather we can see, that we have the sim card tray and the power button.

The Google logo here on the left side on the back very minimalistic, like google. Does it all the time? I guess with a hashtag 10 pixel messages here and nothing else and on the bottom, some specs we do have a 5.8 inches display, 128 gigabytes of internal storage, the just black color variant, just like you could see from the front, and you have the model number g025n. Of course, you have the package content, so we have the phone power, adapter charging, cable and the quick switch adapter which, if I'm not mistaken, is the sim card. Ejector tray, maybe let's just open it up and see this bad boy check it out. We have two pull tabs here on the side.

Let's just first one is out second one and now for the moment of truth. Okay, this one looks pretty, pretty handsome, I might say: hmm, it doesn't look half bad, let's take it out of the box. I just love that it's so small. I will do some comparisons size comparison. Furthermore, I mean with a couple of devices that I have here.

This video will only be an unboxing and a very quick look. I just wanted to do this as soon as possible, so I can finally use it and make a full review and why not comparisons and a lot more videos on it. That's for sure we have a cardboard, probably a recycled, cardboard thing here, which is the very similar to what you buy in egg cartons or something like that. We have here some documentation. I believe, indeed, we have some documentation, which I definitely won't read, and we have the instructions for the sim ejector tool.

We have the charger and right now we can figure out that this device was originally bought from the UK, because it has the UK style charger. You have the USB type-c to USB type-c cable here and an USB type-a to USB type-c. It's an on-the-go adapter. I believe well, nothing too special. Let's just put everything aside and check out the phone, because this is the thing that we've been waiting for.

You have this well foil here, and indeed you have a pretty nice finish. You can see it here. It's definitely not a fingerprint magnet. You can definitely feel the fingerprint scanner here, but I really love that it's flash somehow, and it looks perfect. The camera module is very well.

It kind of reminds me of the iPhone modules. You only have one camera a 12 megapixel sensor, which of course comes with the Google software, so it's outstanding, a dual tone led. I believe we have this very nice power key here, and this here is not the sim tray. We have the volume keys integrated here we have a headphone jack on the top, which is of course very nice microphone on the bottom speaker, microphone and type c. Let's just remove the foil.

Let's hear it very, very satisfying you can see the camera here. You have pretty narrow bezels. You can see it here. The bottom bezel the side bezel the top bezel here with the earpiece, let's see if it has any juice, let's power it up at least, and it does really gorgeous. I have to say that I, like this approach with the camera, integrated like this.

This is why I loved the s10 as well, and this is why I would probably like this device quite a lot. It's probably right now on android 10, given that this is the first time it's booting up and whilst it's doing it, let's check it out size wise compared to other devices. I have here my earlier daily driver destiny. You can see that it's more or less identical in size, but of course the camera is on the right side, thickness, wise, yeah, more or less the same. Probably, destiny is a little thicker, but only marginally so, and I believe they are really, really similar from this standpoint and another phone that I have it's the pixel one, the grandfather of this device, the devices are quite similar in length, but of course, that you have this very, very nice bezel-less design here on the right, which is much nicer.

We won't connect to any network. We will set up the phone offline, let's just check out the software version, so they went with a similar approach on hiding this camera module, so they use darkened wallpapers here on the top, but indeed it looks pretty nice and what I love about the Google devices is that they are quite bloat-free. Indeed, you have some apps like photos play movies, so it looks like this device is pretty new. It's not one of the earliest devices, and we do have android 11 out of the box, and this is the Easter egg. I guess so one two three four five, six, seven, eight nine ten okay, so we have ten dots here and the eleventh dot is probably this white one.

How do you just go back here? Okay, so it has the gestures that are pretty confusing. For me. I like the two buttons here, but yes, we do have android 11. We do have probably a gorgeous camera, which I will detail in my full review. You have a lot of modes including night sight, which is the party trick here, and I guess it's a first look.

It's quite enough. I will right now insert my sim card into this device and start using it. I really love how it looks, and this will probably be my daily driver for some time now. What I forgot to mention is that it seems like, even though we have android 11, we have the September security update, so this basically means that the phone was manufactured sometime early September, or rather in the month of September. You cannot really know for sure it looks good, that's for sure, very powerful flashlights.

Let's not dwell on any details. I haven't used it. I don't know that much about it. At first sight, it definitely looks perfect, I'm really anxious to be able to use it as a daily driver for the next period of time. This was a quick look and an unboxing of this device, the Pixel 4a.
