TCL 10 5G | Budget 5G for $399! By Tech Examined

So, as you can see, TCL is throwing their hat in the 5g ring, and they are coming out with their own TCL 10 5g ultra-wide variant. So, let's get into this unboxing, they were nice enough to send out this little care package and I did take a peek at it and let me just say that there is some pretty cool looking stuff in here. They do talk a little about the 5g and what it does offer and what is included now. This is a Verizon exclusive phone. So keep that in mind when we're talking about this phone that you can only get it through Verizon, so if you're on Verizon you're set. If not, I don't know what to tell you.

So that's all that was in there. Let's go ahead and put this to the side for a moment and take a look at the star of the show and I believe yep. We just go ahead and pop this off now I did notice that there was a little design here that looks pretty cool and, of course, the power of 5g for everyone. So if you want me to go into what 5g is all about, I'm not going to get super technical on it. I'll tell you the basics of what it is and what it's supposed to improve and what people do claim that it doesn't do, so I'll, be more than happy to do that if you want to leave a comment down below or give this video a thumbs up, I'll definitely cover that and go into it to kind of make.

You feel a little more comfortable about what it is that you're getting if you do want to buy one of these phones, so I do notice right off the bat here that it looks like there might be. I don't know if this is a case on it or not, but that does kind of look a little like the top there. So this will be fascinating to check out and let's go ahead and put that to the side. For a moment I don't know if there is anything. Oh yeah, there is lots of stuff down here, so they went ahead and included their own tcl mask and oh, a very nice microfiber.

I could always use more microfibers, that's actually pretty cool and let's see what else. Oh, oh, look at this a spec branded case. So typically when you would get the case inside the phones, it would just be you know in the box and there was no necessarily a version to it, so props to spec for stepping up and supplying a case to them. So in an age where they're taking things out of boxes, they were including a case in the other variants of the TCL. So maybe spec will have their own case in there, we'll definitely see, and hopefully it will be included.

So while I open this up, this TCL 10 5g variant has specs that are mixed in between the 10 pro and the 10l, and it's actually pretty interesting on what that exactly includes. So here is the device itself right off the bat. This is the same size as the 10 l. The 10 pro is actually a little smaller than this, and this screen right here same exact, spec and size as the 10l, so whoa, okay. Well, I've got my fingerprints on the back there, but do you look at that wow? That is really cool, so they do have in etched in the case or the back of the phone here I should say: is that really cool design when it hits the light? So this is going to be something I'm going to want to clear case on I'm checking out so now.

This does have a three lens system, like the other two phones, but what's perfect about this, is it actually mirrors the specs on the more expensive 10 pro? So that's actually perfect that they threw that in there and gave you that so let's go ahead and take a peek in here before we get into some specs on the phone, and we got the sim tray removal tool there, which is very nice, I'm guessing that in here is going to be some specs and whatnot yep. There's your tool so again uh the quick reference guide for setting up the phone. I would guess and any other legal information they do need to include on there. We got the USB to USB a plug, which is very interesting. I do remember, I think the other ones were USB c to USB, but this is an USA charger, which is fine, there's nothing wrong with that.

It just might charge just a little slower while I'm talking to you guys about it, let's go ahead and turn this on. Like I just said, the screen specs on this phone are exactly the same as the 10 l, which is a very nice looking screen. I definitely can't complain there, but some of the other things that it does share with these phones. It has a 4500 William battery, which is the same as the 10 pro now what's important about. That is this.

Having that 5g in there is potentially going to drain the battery more so having a larger battery is actually pretty important. Now the other biggest thing with this phone is the set in here is actually a newer chipset and the reason for that is, they have to upgrade that to be able to access 5g, so the snapdragon computer, that's in here the chip is set up for 5g capability. So that's the reason why they had to go with a newer chip or a 5g capable. Does that mean it's going to be better than the 10 pro performance wise or anything like that? I don't know we're. Definitely going to have to check it out and see exactly how that's going to work, because I don't know, is it going to be a huge difference? Is it not that remains in the test, and I don't want to say anything on that right now.

Now, the other, actually a little nice caveat, is they've upgraded, the graphics card or chip in this phone as well. So 5g always talks about better gaming experiences, so having that improved graphics card could also come into play when it comes to making this better again stuff. We're going to have to check out and maybe compare to the other two phones. Now much like the 10 l, this does have a fingerprint scanner on the back which I'm going to go ahead and set up the 10 pro. Has it on the display, so you can do it under the glass.

So I actually like this better on the back. In my opinion, listen having it on the display is nice, but I mean it just I don't know. Sometimes you don't line it up right and yeah. I know you cannot line it up right on the finger when you're doing it on the fingerprint sensor as well. So oh look at that.

It actually does have faced unlock on the phone as well, so you can go ahead and set that up, and it all took about three seconds to do that which actually wasn't bad. So it told you to hold your face a little further away: Verizon services, location, Wi-Fi, apps, info yeah, okay, whatever I'll go ahead and download it, that's fine! So there it is, it's all set up, and we do have a screen brightness of about. Oh, we do have it at set at automatic, so we'll go ahead. There she is all the way brightened up and, of course, for you guys on the camera. It's not going to look as good, but for me actually that looks pretty darn good.

I mean I'm comparing it to the 10 pro. It looks like the 10. Pro is definitely a little brighter. Now I don't know if I have yeah I have that all the way up as well, so between the two of them, it does look like it's a little brighter and again these are different displays as far as displays go now, when it comes to the 10 l, I would say that they are a little more close to each other. Let's turn that all the way up- and yes, obviously because the screens are exactly the same- I am seeing about the same for those as well, so very nice and very interesting now, of course, something that I don't.

This is going to keep updating now that I've turned it on. Something that I do want to test out is the 5g capabilities of this phone. I don't have 5g in my area, but maybe I'll have to take a trip out to filly and see if that is going to get any improved speeds or what the speeds are. I see other people doing tests on the YouTube, and it'll be interesting to see. Thank you it'll be interesting to see how those tests pan out now there is 5g in the area where I'm at as far as it's improving or being any better.

I don't know if it's going to be any better than LTE. If it's not, then there really is no point in having it turned on as of right now, and it'll stop more battery drain. In my opinion, if there's anything that it really does beyond having 5g turned on, I don't think you're going to see a huge improvement, but that remains to be seen till we test it out. So, along with those tests, I do want to test out the camera and see how it compares to the other ones and other budget devices, and we'll go down that rabbit hole as well so be sure to hit that subscribe button.
