SHOWDOWN: Surface Pro X vs Surface Pro 7!

What's, going on guys your average consumer and pretty recently Microsoft dropped a ton of new surface devices, one of the most interesting to me being the new Surface Pro X, and since it's so similar to the rest of the surface, pro lineup I figured. Why not do a showdown between the new Surface Pro X and the new Surface Pro 7 to see which one is worth picking up. So what makes the new Surface Pro X so interesting? Well, personally, I think that the design language that Microsoft went with for this device is a lot better than the regular surface. Pro lineup we've got slightly more rounded edges on the body and the corners of the screen, much smaller bezels around the display, not to mention a slightly bigger display with this coming in at 13 inches compared to the Surface Pro's twelve point three inches display the Surface Pro X is thinner than the seven and because of its bigger size, it feels lighter, but they're really actually the same weight. Another difference between the two is they're kickstands. The X can go quite a bit further back, which allows it to be a better canvas.

If you look to do a lot of work with the surface pen, I have to say, though both are very portable devices, but the X seems a bit more welcoming. It also feels nicer in the hand when you're using in tablet mode, but once you throw on the type cover keyboard on both of these, and you use them in laptop mode you're, pretty much getting the same experience. But overall, both of the displays are great. Colors are nice and vibrant and gets plenty bright, I think most people will have no problem with this place at all, especially since their touchscreen, you can use them in tablet mode. There they're good displays.

What can you say, but for me personally, I do like having that bigger screen, so the 13 inches is a winner. For me, a lot of displays are similar and both awesome, where we see a big difference, is actually in the speaker, quality. The speakers on the X sound quite a bit better than the 7 to me. One thing that I really like that. These both have been those new front facing cameras and mics.

Those are definitely better, and they have Windows hello, so you can unlock the device just by turning it on and using your face to scan. It definitely good additions there, but going back to that type cover keyboard that we mentioned earlier. The X now has a signature keyboard that works really well with the new slim pen. The keyboard is awesome to type on just like the standard type cover keyboard that the seven uses, but it does have anything trick up its sleeve with the ability to store the new slim pen right inside the flap that connects to the surface to strap the pen to the side of the surface, which I personally love I, always get a little of anxiety when I'm traveling with the surface, because you can knock off the pen, or it'll come loose in my backpack, and I'm like. Where is that pen until I dig in a little deeper and find it? So? Knowing that it's in a stored location is definitely a nice touch.

So not only is having that little spot better for traveling, but it'll also double as a wireless charger for the pen, so that you no longer need to go and replace the batteries it now recharges, and it charges right inside the spot that you store it in. That just makes complete sense and pricing between the keyboards and the pen vary a bit, but once you bundle them together, band them costing the same thing between both devices, so I got to give it to the Surface Pro X for having the overall, better design. But again I do feel like the overall typing experience and using the trackpad are pretty much equal. So when it comes to the quality of the overall user experience, I think most people will be happy. Now there isn't a long list of I/o on either device with the Surface Pro 7 you're getting a USB, a port which is typical, as well as a USB-C port, which people have been dying for a long time.

Microsoft has finally listened and additive. You'll also get a surface connect port and a headphone jack. Now, with the Surface Pro X you're getting two USB type-c ports and the surface, can there pour it and that's about it? No headphone jack a little weird to me. In my opinion, anything that's supposed to function as a laptop I feel like should have a headphone jack. There's plenty of space for it, I know some people probably won't care, because Bluetooth headphones are getting way more popular, but still I find it a little odd that they couldn't put a headphone jack in this.

But I am kind of curious about what you guys think under the Vice like this, which is like a tablet and laptop. Are you expecting to have a headphone jack with smartphones? That's pretty much dead, but when it comes to this category, let me know what you think in the comments below guys now something that the Surface Pro X does have that you won't find on the seven is the ability to go under the kickstand and throw in a SIM card, so the Surface Pro X is an always connected PC. Once you throw in that SIM card you'll have mobile data, just like you would with a smartphone which is completely awesome. I am a huge fan of having this feature, because you can essentially use the device anywhere and not be tethered to Wi-Fi or anything like that. So I'm, a really, really big fan of this.

How many people out there would actually go out and buy them all the plans for the laptop that I'm not sure about, but it's great to have the feature so definitely bonus points to the pro-x for that, but, interestingly enough, in the same area that you can find the sim card slot on the surface, pro X you'll also find the m2 SSD that you can actually replace now. This is interesting because you've never been able to do that on the Surface Pro lineup. This is the first for that now. I. Don't really think that the m2 SSD size is common, so I'm not really sure how you'd go about getting a replacement for it.

If you wanted to upgrade the storage capacity, but the fact that it's there, and it's available, maybe Microsoft will sell them in the future, not sure, but it's just cool that it's there. I personally feel like in the hardware department. The Surface Pro X does a lot of things better than the pro 7, but things kind of fall apart. When you start talking about the specs and not necessarily the specs, but the software side of things now when it comes to the specs on the Surface Pro 7, you get quite a few options in terms of how you want to configure it not so much. On the Surface Pro x, the Surface Pro x actually uses Microsoft's news, sq1 chip, which they work with AMD on it's an ARM based system, so that actually leads to a few limitations, and these limitations are basically not being able to run some apps to their full potential, as well as not being able to run some apps at all.

Some developers haven't made their apps compatible with arm systems, so that can lead to a lot of downloading an app thinking is going to work only to get a pop-up saying it can't be installed on the system. I've run into it quite a few times with, like Dropbox, even Geek bench, pretty standard stuff. That you'd expect to use on a regular everyday basis that you just can't have on the system which definitely causes it to lose quite a bit of points and while Microsoft is making great strides in making arm systems more widespread, and they're doing a lot to push it as of right now, on the consumer side of things, it does have its limitations. So that's something you definitely have to be aware of, and it makes it really hard to say that this is a better overall system than the Surface Pro 7. With the Surface Pro 7 you're getting full-blown windows, you can install pretty much whatever you want on it as long as your machine expect out to support the apps, you want and that's about it.

But if you don't plan on doing anything, super intensive with the Pro X, you should be fine, but you're not gonna, be able to do in these crazy gaming, and you're. Definitely going to want to check on your most used and must-have apps to see if they're compatible. So, basically, if you're, someone who lives in your browser- and you can benefit from an always connected PC- that might not be much of a compromise. Now when it comes to the overall performance of the Pro X, it's been an OK experience smooth for the most part, but there were some instances where I didn't notice a bit of stuttering, throwing up multiple tabs on Google Chrome and trying to watch some YouTube videos cause the machine to stutter a little for me, not something I experienced a lot, but I did notice it a few times and in terms of battery life, the Surface Pro X is rated for 13 hours, while the Surface Pro 7 is rated for 11, so you're going to get a little more from the X. But overall guys here are my feelings about these two I love everything about the Pro, X I think Microsoft knocked it out of the park in terms of the hardware, the design, the thought process with the keyboard and the slim pen.

It's all a really nice experience, but it's just that that arm side of Windows, I, think kind of holds it back Surface Pro 7 is what we're used to, especially if you spec it out. You're going to get a powerful portable machine that hasn't changed much, but honestly, I just wish that Microsoft kind of just scratched the Surface Pro 7 and made the X take over completely new design, same internal same ability to upgrade the specs. That would be ideal when it comes to recommending these. If you're not gonna, do anything super crazy, I feel like the Pro X might do a pretty decent job, but you want to make sure your must-have apps work with it, but for the overall safe experience, you're going to want to go with the pro 7, but I want to know what you guys think. Do you think that the overall hardware and the design of the Pro X still lets it Trump V 7 or is the reliability of the 7 and the extra specs that you can put into it to make it a bit more powerful make it Trump the Pro X? Let me know what the comment down below.

Hopefully you guys enjoyed this video and this helped out a little with your decision, but till the next videos ravage consumer base.
