Should You Still Buy The Samsung Gear S2? By Ryan-Thomas

It's been two years since I last checked out a fully-fledged Smartwatch and thanks to this lovely chap on Instagram I was able to get my foot back in the door and try something a little more mainstream with that in mind, hey guys, my name is Ryan, Thomas, Rafael tech, and this is the Samsung Galaxy gear. S2 classic brought to you by cosmic seven beats on Instagram. Let's start off with the best part of this watch in my opinion, and that's the design. Okay, it's not got the smallest of bezels, the most premium build or even the fanciest crown or any crown for that matter, but it does have, is the most satisfying dial on a piece of mobile tech that I have ever seen that dial is the main navigation tool and surrounds the 1.2 inch 360 by 360, Super AMOLED touchscreen specs are pretty good for a Smartwatch display and I. Tell you that even holding it right up, close sharpness is absolutely as good as it needs to be I, couldn't to send any individual pixels and for a three-year-old device. That's really not bad.

The display itself is bright, saturated and more than acceptable. Of course, we'd expect this from a Samsung device, but it still surprised me also the way the display itself is so close to the front glass when you hold it off access. It just looks really, really clean. In my opinion, just something I wanted to point out. The back and home buttons are really nice to have, and, of course, that dial is super useful, that home key can give you customizable functions with the double click and a hold down a long press and stuff, and I'm glad that it's not big spiky and the buttons themselves don't intrude on a very, very classy design, and it just so happens that this thing has ip68 water and dust resistance to I do want to talk about building design as I was incredibly impressed, and I wasn't the only one, but before that my unit does have a crack back.

It doesn't affect the. U s-- at all. As the sensor still works, fine underneath and replacements are cheap enough. I just haven't managed to get around to changing it, but other than that. The band itself isn't in too bad of shape.

The leather has cracks, but it hasn't snapped, and I wear this thing pretty much everywhere and the main watch in my opinion, has an incredible design it spots yet utilitarian and everyone I've shown it to, has been impressed. It's fancy, but not like a Rolex fancy. My uncle, who owns a few pricey paces, said that he was super intrigued by the design and how the screen just seamlessly blends into the chassis. But it's what's on the screen that matters and there's no point in calling this thing a Smartwatch if it's not smart in the first place, so I'm going to show you what you can do and then what I personally use the Smartwatch for the gear. S2 classic is compatible with any device running, Android, 4.4 or higher or iOS 9.00 or higher, and it connects via Bluetooth and with Samsung's gear software package. The watch itself runs Samsung's Ti zen software, so Android wear apps aren't present at all.

That can be seen as a bad thing, but, as explained in this video, the integration between the hardware and the software and Samsung building this thing from the ground up makes for some amazing optimization features, it's more efficient, it's more integrated, and it makes for a better experience. Overall. In my opinion, the watch is capable of running some basic apps available to download via the Samsung, App, Store and I. Never really use them to be honest, because I didn't need to they weren't as useful as picking up my phone and doing it that way anyway. The health tracking features are super useful, and I've, always liked s-health or now Samsung health.

It's a well-made, app and I find the watch to interact with it very, very well, but the main feature, the most underrated feature of a Smartwatch, in my opinion, is the notification system and Samsung has pretty much nailed. This I love the fact that I don't have to check my phone for notifications, and it's all on the wrist. This is what a lot of smartwatches are being used for, and the s2 classic is a great little device for this. Now, when it comes to performance and battery life in 2018, well, I found that day to day was the battery cycle, and sometimes two days would be a thing, but very rarely I'd pop the watch onto its included wireless charging stand before I went to sleep, and it would last me the whole day when I picked it up after getting up slow down was not an occurrence. I didn't see, lagging restarting crashing, or anything like that.

Although I didn't really push the watch too far in everyday use. Case, of course, only really use it for notification and health tracking, but I know a lot of people do exactly the same with a Smartwatch, and they can have some crashing, and that is one of the main reasons I like that, it's using Ti zen the wide availability of third-party straps is a nice addition as it lets you customize the watch even three years down the line as you please. It's likely that you're going to want a fresh, a band, and so you can buy rubber metal, leather, sports, classy and handy band from eBay for peanuts. I like seeing their support so far down the road, and it's one of the many reasons that I review use devices included watch faces are pretty minimal. I personally, like this modern utility design with battery life, steps date and analog clock, but there are heaps more available on the Samsung store and that's where you can find faces to fit any style and any occasion in terms of the difference between this and the more recently released Galaxy watch you're not missing out on a heck of a lot.

The software will be newer. The specs will be higher, and you'll get one or two new things here and there on the newer watch, but smartwatches haven't aged particularly badly. We don't use them for anything more in 2018 than we really did in 2015, and so for that reason alone, the gear s2 classic seems a bit of a bargain. I really do love my gear, s2 classic, and I'm really thankful to Paul at cosmic.7 beats for sending the watch over, and I do recommend that you purchase one in turn 18, because for around 130 pounds you can get a great example and for a great watch with some useful features, sprinkled in there with an awesome design, great value and solid durability. I have absolutely no problem with recommending just don't expect it to replace your smartphone.
