Samsung Galaxy S21 Unboxing & Hands-On: Setting the aesthetic standard?

Well, look what we have here. This is the Samsung Galaxy s21 literally stepped into the kl gadget guide doors literally just 10 minutes ago um. We are unboxing this ahead of its launch, this 14th January. At the galaxy unpacked event, the boss looks super sleek, super nice and super thin. Why is it so thin? Well, just like apple Samsung has decided to take out the charger and not include it. For sake of reducing carbon footprint say what you will about it.

Let's get into the unboxing. I see a lot of purple and violet on the box here, especially on the branding and by checking the information. Yes, this is indeed the violet variant to the phantom violet model. So, let's just unbox this very quickly and there you go straight away, you get to the phone and, if you've been paying attention to rumors. This is exactly how the phone looks like in the rumors, as well, especially with the brand-new contour card design on the camera, but we'll get to that a bit later.

So, let's see what else is inside the box, and this is very interesting right off the bat you get this box that usually ships with your manuals, you're charging cables and your case- let's see, what's here all right, so after opening it, you get your well, you get your manuals and I feel a charging cable at the back yeah there you go okay, so yes, type-c charging cable there you go pretty short one, but yeah it's there, and that is it no case no phone case and, as I mentioned earlier, no charging brake. Finally, let's get into the phone itself, there is a protective piece of plastic at the back here. Let's peel that very nicely. Yes, oh there's also a protective layer on the camera bump as well. Okay, as I mentioned earlier, this is the violet variant, the phantom model.

It also comes in pink gray and white. The s21 and s21 plus shares the same color models, but the s21 ultra comes in only phantom black and phantom white. Finally, I get to talk about one of the more interesting features of the brand new s21, which is its back panel design now Samsung calls this their new contour cut camera design, where the camera bump sort of curves towards the edge of the phone now what's interesting, is that they support sort of different finishes, the camera bump and the base finish of the phone itself. We have the violet version as mentioned earlier, but the camera bump itself is sort of a chrome, copper finish. The back panel is anti-fingerprint, it sort of feels like frosted glass, but it is glass.

Stick the camera bump here also sports the same sort of finish, but just in a different color but say you go to the bumper of the phone itself. This is where the glossiness comes in. It's almost got a mirror light finish, and this is where it picks up all your fingerprints. It's not too bad. The design looks at least unique, so it's not the same thing every year, but to each own.

Some of you might like what Samsung has done with the s21. Some of you might not, after booting up the phone I finally get to enjoy the gorgeous Samsung AMOLED display that, as usual, always impresses me, and it's no different here on the galaxy s21 every model of the s21 series, ships with the dynamic AMOLED panel that has variable refresh rate of up to 120 hertz. The display resolution on the s21 is only 1080p. While if you want a 1440p resolution, you'll have to go for the s21 ultra. Now it goes without saying that a flagship Samsung device- it's always going to have a gorgeous display and after looking at it for about a few minutes or so the colors are bright, and they pop and details are super crisp and as typical of a Samsung.

Well, I love it. The bezels here are also pretty thin, and you also get to see sort of the chrome, copper accents at the sides, which sort of adds a nice little touch, although I'm not sure if that's intentional, but it's there. The s21 gets a 64 megapixel telephoto lens, a 12 megapixel white lens and a 12 megapixel ultra-wide lens, and one of the newer features for photography is the enhanced portrait mode. So after you take a portrait shot, you go into your gallery. Choose that image and instead of just letting you change the level of both you get in a portrait shot, you can also change the studio lighting effect on the subject itself, whether you want to brighten it or darken it, or you have other effects too, such as high kimono, Loki, mono, color points or even a big circle.

Both around your subject and as well as the spiral spin uh both mode. So you get a few more options here, but the one that is really the most useful is obviously the studio lighting effect. Another cool feature that's introduced with the s21. Is the zoom lock feature which is pretty self-explanatory so before? If you zoom in really far onto a subject, your viewfinder will move around like crazy, even at the slightest jolt of your hands to get the new feature to work simply zoom in on your subject and don't move for two seconds after that, the zoom lock will engage, and you will have a less jittery experience when zoomed in far away. So those are the new photography features.

Now, let's get into videography for a bit. One new feature that comes with the s21 is the unlimited super, steady mode which lets you record steady videos at 4k 60fps. Another new feature is going to be very useful to videography enthusiasts. This is called the director's view whereby you are given a viewfinder of each of your different lenses on the phone, including your selfie lens. You can change between your lenses on the fly, even while you are recording, which is a very nice feature.

Now comes my favorite part of any unboxing these specs. After checking with CPU, we know the galaxy s21 ships with the Enos 2100, chipset, 8, gigabytes of ram and 256 gigabytes of internal storage. We're not quite sure how many variants there are in Malaysia yet, but we will definitely keep you updated when it comes to battery capacity. You get a 4 000 William hour pack here, and the phone supports up to 25 watts of fast charging, which is exactly like the s20 series. So, although the phone doesn't actually ship with a charging brick, if you're upgrading from the galaxy s20, you can still reuse your charging adapter.

But if you are upgrading from say a s10, then well. You're going to need a new charging brick if you want to make use of the whole 25 watts of fast charging, but if you prefer, you can also opt to charge your phone wirelessly as well. Lastly, one more thing that we can mention the s21 is that it comes with a new fingerprint sensor in that it's slightly larger than before 1.7 times larger, to be exact, so you can expect something faster this time around, so that's it for my unboxing and first look of the Samsung Galaxy s21 now what's majorly different this time around is, of course, the design and depending on whom, you ask you, may like it or hate it. At least it's different this time around. It's still a very premium lightweight smartphone that you can just slip in your pocket, no fuss, no mass under the hood.

Of course, you get that very powerful Enos 2100 and awesome camera, specs and new features to go along with it. I haven't really gotten the chance to play around the phone yet, but I'm already starting to like it just a little at the time of recording. Of course, the phone hasn't officially been launched. Yet we will update you with more information, including the official pricing in the description box below, if you like, this video remember to subscribe, give us a thumbs up. This is victor signing off bye.
