Samsung Galaxy S21 Unboxing & First Look

Hey guys jack here welcome back to the channel hope you're doing well. Today we have a simple video, just unboxing the new Samsung Galaxy s21 5g. This just came out yesterday, and we're going to head unbox it and take a look around the phone. So along the top of the box, we just have a simple design s21, and it is the 5g model, no 4g versions. This year along the bottom of the box, we have some specs, so this is 128 gigs. They also do a 256 gig model, but no micros expansion so make sure you get the size.

You want down to eight gigs of ram this time, and this is the phantom gray color along the side. We just have galaxy along the back, just some information and then Samsung on this side. So go ahead and cut these two tabs along the back of the phone, and then we'll flip it back over. Take the lid off and there's the phone we're presented with it straight away, we'll go ahead and lift that out and there you go. There's the phone and there's the back the phantom gray, we'll just put that off to the side for now and taking a look in the rest of the box, so we get a little booklet here with some information and a sim ejection tool, no um charging brick this time.

But if we do open this up, we should get a charging cable inside here. So if we just pull this out there, we go. There's the quick start, guide and warranty card and then in the rest of here you open it up there we go there's the type c charging cable. So we'll just slide that out there you go type c to type c, so you can use that with any charges you have already. But there is no charging brick in the box this time, and it sports up to 25 watt fast charging, so we'll go ahead and put that off to the side, and we'll take the phone here, we'll go ahead and remove the protector on the front there, just peel that off, and we'll go ahead and do the same on the back here and there you go.

There's the s21, so we'll go ahead and power it on and whilst that's boosting up we'll go ahead and take a look around the phone. So on the front here we have a 6.2 inch display. This is 1080p this time, so they've downsized it from that 1440p. But the older galaxy could only run at 1080p 120 hertz, whereas this model can run at that full resolution of 1080p and range from 48 up to 120 hertz. We have that hole, punch camera at the front, the top there.

Along this side we have no buttons, no Bixby button. We have some antenna lines along the back here we have our triple camera design. This is pretty much carried over from the s20, so we have an ultra-wide, a wide and a telephoto. So that's 12, 12 and 64. Accessibility mode continue holding the screen with there.

We go ahead and turn that off and on the back here we still have Samsung with some information here. So shame they can get rid of that. Is this plastic back or polycarbonate, so basically a plastic bag. So it feels soft touch to the back. Nice frosted feel, so it makes it feel a bit lighter than the glass that you get on the s21 plus or the ultra along the bottom.

Here we have the sim tray card with the hole there to eject it, there's also a microphone type c connection and the speaker along the right hand, side. We have the power button along with the volume rocker, and you can see there how the camera blends into the side, so nice uh design there from Samsung. We also have the flash up here and then on to the top there. Furthermore, we have two more microphones for the phone go ahead and tap it to wake it up, I'll, go ahead and set this up. If you want to see how to set it up I'll leave a link in the top right, but we'll come back once it's set up.

Okay. So after about five minutes of setting up the phone, it's all done. We're here on the home screen, and we'll start off by taking a look at the fingerprint scanner. So just have to go ahead and hold your thumb seems to be very quick, very accurate in terms of the size. So if we go ahead, wake up the screen, you can see there where it wants me to put my finger or thumb I should say if I just put it down on the bottom edge, you can see it's still unlocked, so it seems to be bigger, as they said it was, but just seems to be very fast and very accurate.

So far, so that's good to see in terms of storage. If we go into these settings here and then just search for storage, you can go ahead and see how much you get out of the box, so we're using about 28 gigs. So that leaves you with a hundred gigs on this model. So bear that in mind. Just the software alone takes up 28 gigs.

If you want more, you will need to get that 256 gig model, since there isn't any micro SD card slot on this phone heading back out just going into some of the apps that come installed by default, we obviously have all the Samsung ones. They like to install all the Google ones and then some Microsoft ones as well, and then you can see some other random ones like Facebook, Spotify, but not too bad, and you can obviously uninstall them if you wish. You also have this Samsung free app, which is basically some games, that they want you to play along with some news articles that you can read and then off to the left. You now have the option to have Google discover. Furthermore, you can also change this to Samsung free, but it's good to see that they have got rid of the Bixby, and you can have Google now there instead take a look at the wallpapers go into my wallpapers.

They have a few different options. You have some video ones that play this little live video for you, and then you have some stills as well, but a good selection. There 18 different ones, pre-loaded quite tasteful, I think heading back out there. So that's the phone and the software there is a software update as I launch the phone so make sure you check that when you get your new phone uh go ahead and update it in terms of the feel uh the plastic on the back does feel different to glass. I have to say, but it's nice and frosted, and you can see it's holding up very well to fingerprints, there's barely any visible on the back there.

So that's good to see that's the one upside I'd say, but this may be the same on the frosted glass of the s21 plus and the ultra we'll have to see how it holds up over time with scratches it should hold up better to drop, since it is plastic, but it'll be interesting to see one other thing is, it does still have the option to charge wireless devices, so you have to go in here, and you can see here some of the other options they haven't added. But if you go into wireless power share and then tap that I'll drag it down sorry hit done. If you go ahead and hit that unlock the phone, it should then go ahead and say: wireless power share. If we grab some Samsung buds, go ahead and drop them on it should start charging there. You go, there's the noise and the little orange light, so you still have four and a half watts of wireless charging, which is very useful.

Actually, if you have a pair of the wireless headphones, and you can see there go ahead and go back into the phone, so that's useful to see. One thing to note is that the 5g model this is 5g in the UK- is only sub 6, so you won't be getting that 2 gigabytes per second speed that you see in the US, with the ultra-wide band, um or millimeter wave. Sorry, so just bear that in mind. Another thing is to note that this only has Bluetooth. It doesn't have the ultra-wide band that they're advertising, so that is reserved for the s21 plus and the ultra.

So something like their new uh tracking devices. They have launched a Bluetooth, only version. This will work just fine with this phone. But if you want the ability to hold up your phone and view uh in a room in AR where your tracker is, you will need the 21 plus or the ultra, along with that tracker plus to do that and also in the future. Perhaps things like unlocking cars.

This won't be able to do with that ultra-wide band. So just bear that in mind. If you want that technology you will need to bump up to the s21 plus, otherwise it is pretty much the same as the s21 plus just smaller screen and therefore battery is decreased and battery life, but in terms of the size, is very comfortable in hand. You obviously have that tall aspect ratio but very comfortable, narrow phone, so it seems to be doing well we'll go ahead and end the video here. If you have any questions about the s21 or any of the range do go ahead and post the comment down below, and I'll try and get back to you as soon as possible.
