Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra (Exynos 2100): Gaming Test! (PUBG, Call of Duty: Mobile, Genshin Impact)

How's it going guys vapor here, and I know it's been quite a bit of time since I've last uploaded on this channel. Let me tell you exactly why that's the case, I think the primary reason for it is the fact that I have been busy testing out the Samsung Galaxy s, 21 ultra, as well as the galaxy s21 plus. If you want to see the full reviews for both of these smartphones, make sure you check out the link down in the description over on gm tech. That's where I've uploaded both the reviews for the smartphones. Talking about performance cameras, battery life display everything pretty much that you'd want to know of the galaxy s21 ultra has been mentioned in the review. So please check that out, but in this video I want to continue my gaming test series of videos that I do if you've missed my previous ones, you can check them out using the card above, but the galaxy s21 ultra that I have been the Enos 2100 variant of the smartphone.

As we know, the galaxy s21 ultra comes in either the snapdragon 888 flavor in the USA or in certain markets or the Enos 2100 variant, which is what we have here in Dubai in the UA, and I thought this would be a great opportunity to try out how gaming performance works on the device. This time I've actually got. You upgrade to the way we carry out all of these gaming tests, so in the past I had nothing to really monitor the way the smartphone performed. Now I do have a thermometer which is not going to be the most accurate way of doing it, but at least it's going to give you a range or a sort of reference as to how hot or how cool the device stays. So I want to start off by taking the idle temperature of the galaxy s21 ultra, which sits at about 29 degrees Celsius.

Also, before getting into the games, let's run a 3d mark benchmark to get an idea of the galaxy s21 ultra's performance right off the bat. The wildlife stress test, repeats 20, loops, assessing performance over the 20-minute time period, and I'm not going to show you all the loops because it gets boring, but you will be able to see the general essence with the footage I have recorded, and here are the results. You can pause the video to assess the results, but the Enos 2100 version of the galaxy s21 ultra posts, a stability rate of 61.4, which is in line with the snapdragon 888 version of the device, with the results, courtesy of Kevin. The tech ninja check him out. If you haven't heard of him, but I'm pretty sure you have also, after the conclusion of this test, the temperature of the phone rose to an average of 43 degrees Celsius, touching 45 degrees Celsius in the region near the camera.

After that, I gave the galaxy s21 ultra a bit of time to cool down, which I think is fair. I want the phone to be at its best when it is gaming. Also, a really cool feature on Samsung's part, especially for gaming, comes in built with the phone. It requires you to enable developer options which is easily done through the settings you tap on the phone's build number a few times to get access to it and if you scroll down to the options, you'll see one that says GPU watch. This is great to monitor gaming performance, and it's an inclusion that I appreciate Samsung for doing and that's how we're going to measure the performance of the games that we run on the galaxy s 21 ultra.

So, let's start off with one of my favorites PUBG here, I've set it to smooth and extreme settings, and you'll be able to see that performance is quite seamless. You get a constant 59 to 61 fps rating throughout whether you're exploring the world or in gunfight situations. There also seem to be no lag over an extended duration of time, which I think is perfect for the smartphone for the testing. I played PUBG for close to 20 minutes and never faced any issues with performance with the device's display set to quad, HD plus resolution. I do wish a full 120hz option was available here to push performance and the experience even further, but this could come down to how things are optimized and maybe PUBG might be able to enable this through software updates and future optimization with the default PUBG settings, though this was the maximum frame rate that I got once I was done with my 20 to 25-minute session, the average temperature of the phone sat at about 40 degrees Celsius.

Next up, we've got Call of Duty mobile another staple in the mobile gaming community. In this first part, I had depth of field rag doll effects, water reflections, etc. All turned on with very high graphics and the maximum frame rate you'll notice that the average frame rate in this instance fluctuated between 47 and 54 fps, although this was not as noticeable as it was on the gaming performance or the gaming test. I did with the iPhone 12, for example, because of the 120 hertz refresh rate on the galaxy s21 patron, keep in mind. This is still pushing the full quad HD plus resolution later on in the test.

Aside from keeping real-time shadows on, I turned off everything else, because I don't really need to see all of that and with these options turned off the average frame rate rose to around 56 to 61 fps, just like we saw with PUBG earlier. The experience felt a bit smoother, but nothing that significantly changes performance compared to earlier at 47 and 54 fps, but you'll be glad to know that once again, in this case, Samsung's Enos, 2100, outscore processor, held up really, really well quite impressively. The average temperature after this gaming session was about 38 degrees Celsius moving to asphalt, 9. We know this game is usually fairly optimized when it comes to performance. However, for some reason, the galaxy s21 ultra could not push the game to its full 60 fps potential.

The experience was still smooth, and I even tried lowering the display's resolution down to full HD plus to see if that would make a difference regardless. I think this is just an anomaly, and we'll see this bumped up to 60 fps fairly quickly, with an update from asphalt n, because the galaxy s21 ultra literally just launched. So I think developers need a bit of time to optimize their performance just to prove this. I tried running the game on the galaxy s20 ultra from last year, and it ran at full 60 fps, so you shouldn't be too concerned here, and the temperatures in this case were about 37 degrees Celsius, so once again, not bad by any means pushing the galaxy s21 ultra, though, with more GPU intensive games, some creaks do start to show here. Firstly, we've got gentian impact where the frame rate on GPU turbo stays capped at 54 fps.

However, when gaming you do tend to feel general frame drops here and there which aren't exhibited on GPU turbo, for whatever reason this isn't anything major and nowhere near the iPhone 12 performance that we saw earlier, but it is there and there is some reminiscence of it. To be honest, this is slightly less performance than anticipated. However, we do hope that future software optimizations and updates iron out these issues. Another point to consider is the games' optimization, which also seems to be a topic of discussion in a number of threads. I've read online you'll notice that in this case, the GPU is still not being pushed to its maximum limit, and we're testing.

Here for about 20 minutes, I saw an average temperature of 40 degrees Celsius just for fun and to completely push the GPU all the way I installed this game called tau CTI, which I heard for the first time. Once again, I don't know how optimized the game is, but it really shows how far this game can push any processor on a smartphone. I think, even on the most powerful chip out there, the game will struggle, and here I found the experience to be borderline unplayable, the pauses, the jitters. The stops resulted in quite a haphazard movement in fps values, some that ranged all the way up to 40 fps, whereas others that fell as low as 12 fps. I definitely don't anticipate any flagship to power through a game like this, but it's always fun to throw in to test the extreme case scenario, with the GPU fully under stress the phone's average temperature fluctuated between 41 and 42 degrees Celsius and that wraps up the gaming test on the Samsung Galaxy s21 ultra Enos 2100 editions, I feel like Samsung, has done a very good job when it comes to fps, especially on games like Call of Duty as well as PUBG, the most popular titles out there.

The optimization is perfect and not just for fps they've also done well to control the thermals of the smartphone, which was another complaint that people had last year. So as far as the improvements over the galaxy s20 ultra go, there are far- and many I do want to make a follow-up to this video, maybe in three to six months time to see how Samsung improves things further, but that's about it for this video thanks for watching do. Let me know what you guys think down in the comments. Were you surprised by the results? Were the results as anticipated? Let me know all of that in the comments down below this was vapor, and I'll see you in the next one adios.
