Samsung Galaxy S21 FE - FIRST LOOK By TechTalkTV

Samsung has traditionally been at either end of the value spectrum. While the company thrived in the entry-to-mid-range segments as well as flagships through its Galaxy S and Galaxy Note families, it has traditionally been a bit shy about going up against the likes of OnePlus in the $500-700 segment. All this changed last year with the introduction of the Galaxy S20 FE. When the company launched the handset, some may have thought it was just releasing a fun phone for its fans, at least based on the name. However, the phone’s features, design, and price put it in direct competition with the latest phones in the “affordable flagship” segment and quickly the handset overshadowed the competition such as OnePlus, and became one of the best-selling Android phones in the segment for last year. So fans of the brand have been waiting for the much-awaited sequel, the Galaxy S21 FE, and today we have the first look at the handset as well as some of its specifications.

Onleaks has revealed the renders of the Galaxy S21 FE based on the official CAD schematics. Note that this isn't a concept but an actual render of the device itself. At first glance, you notice that it looks somewhat identical to the Galaxy S21 and S21+ released earlier this year, but there are some design tweaks that set the handset a little apart from the Galaxy S21 lineup. Notably, the camera bump. Onleaks explains that the bump “protrudes directly from the rear panel instead of extending from the metal frame of the device like on the S21.

It’s hard to see from this render, to be honest, but it sounds like the bump will feel a little different in person. But the rest design is pretty much what we see on the Galaxy S21. Centered punch hole camera with minimal bezels and the same glastic back. But interestingly the Galaxy S21 FE is a bit taller than the regular S21 and a bit wider too that's because Samsung has increased the display size to 6.4". In comparison the display on the S21 is 6.2". But when compared to last year's S20 FE, the S21 FE measures in at a slightly smaller 6.4" vs 6.5". The camera configuration is the same we have on the Galaxy S21.

That is 12MP wide, 64MP telephoto with 3x optical zoom and 12MP Ultrawide cameras. The display resolution, screen refresh rate, and other things are expected to be the same as the Galaxy S21. Last year's S20 FE proven to be so successful because Samsung retained the best features of the Galaxy S20 but priced it substantially less. So expect the same with this year's Galaxy S21 FE as well. According to past information, the S21 FE will have a 32MP front camera instead of 10MP on the S21.

The phone will be available in 5 color variants, light green, gray/silver, pink, violet, and white. It will have 5G, 128GB/256GB internal storage, and Android 11 with OneUI 3.5 on top. Also, expect the retail box of the handset to be slimmer compared to last year because just like the Galaxy S21 there is a good chance that no charger and no earplugs will be included with the S21 FE. Anyway, according to the leaked roadmap, Samsung is expected to launch the S21 FE in August at an unpacked event. Because there will be no Galaxy Note this year, which is usually introduced at that time of the year.

Samsung has postponed the launch of the Galaxy Note 21 Ultra or Note 22 Ultra to next year likely due to the chip shortage. Of course with that being said, do consider hitting that like button if you appreciate what I do here and as always I'll see you tomorrow... Peace out.
