Samsung Galaxy S20 Camera: Test the CRAZIEST Feature!

- I'm Andru Edwards and you're watching Gear Live. (funky upbeat music) I just spent time with the new Samsung Galaxy S20, S20+ and S20 Ultra, and one of the biggest upgrades this year is the camera. This year the sensors are bigger, we can shoot 8K video, there's better image stabilization and the megapixel count is off the charts, topping out at 108 megapixels on the S20 Ultra. But in this video, we are focusing on the one crazy mode that Samsung added to the S20 lineup that may change the way you take smartphone photos going forward. What's going on tech squad, Andru Edwards here, editor-in-chief of GearLive. com And as I mentioned, I was able to spend some time with the brand-new Samsung Galaxy S20, S20+ and S20 Ultra and I have a lot more about each of those phones coming in future videos.

Now without going into a full review of the camera, let me give you a little bit of background as to what Samsung has done here. The camera on the Galaxy S20 line up is a major upgrade to the point where I'd say that this is a next generation camera. It's not a slight tweak from what we saw last year, it's actually a full, complete, new from the ground up camera system. In fact, it's so good, we'll probably see other phone makers mirroring a lot of these features later this year thanks to the power of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865, which is making a lot of these camera features possible. Now again, my full reviews of both the Galaxy S20 lineup, and the S20 camera system will be coming soon.

And this feature is called single take mode. When Samsung was explaining it to me, I was extremely intrigued and when I tried it out for myself, I knew it will be a game changer and a time saver. When you shoot a scene a single take mode on the Galaxy S20, the camera will begin capturing both photos and videos for the next 10 seconds.

And for that 10 seconds, you do not have to remain still. In fact, it's encouraged that you move around a little bit, so you might want to move a little closer to your subject, a little further away, capture a different angle, move around. For 10 seconds it's gonna be recording video and capturing different types of photos. Once the 10 seconds is up, it'll process for a second or two and then it'll add the best results to your photo library. Now at a minimum, when using this mode, you're going to end up with two videos, but at a maximum, you get 10 photos and four videos as well.

Single take mode is great if you're trying to capture a pet or kids, or if you're at a party or an event, but it'll really work with anything including vast landscapes as well. Now the coolest part here is that the camera is actually capturing content in several different modes. So you might end up with an ultra wide photo, as well as a live-focused portrait photo and another photo using an AI filter along with a boomerang video and an original video as well. All from that one single take action. As you can see we tested it out on a juggler, and we were able to get live focus portraits, fast forward videos and a bunch of other cool shots just by pressing the shutter button once and letting single take do the work.

Now as I said, single take mode on the Galaxy S20 lineup is obviously made possible by the Snapdragon 865 processor, but it is also thanks to the insanely powerful camera system that Samsung has built into this year's Galaxy S lineup. Now I want to hear from you guys, you've seen it in action here in this video. What do you think of single take mode on the Galaxy S20? Something that you think you're excited to use? Excited to get your hands on? Or is it something that you're going to be a gimmick and quickly set aside, when you pick up one for yourself? Drop a comment down below and I will meet you there for further discussion. And speaking by the way of picking up a Galaxy S20 for yourself, the phone will be available for pre-order on Valentine's Day February 14th, and will go on sale on March 6th. The Galaxy S20 will cost $999.99. The S20+ will cost $1199.99, and the Galaxy S20 Ultra will cost, $1399.99. Of course if you want to hear more about the Samsung Galaxy S20 lineup, be sure to subscribe to the "Geared Up" podcast.

"Geared Up" is the podcast I do each week with Jon Rettinger. We cover the latest in tech, gadgets and games.
