Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra Vs Samsung Galaxy Note 8! (Comparison) (Review)

Welcome back everyone time to do another comparison. This time around the Samsung Galaxy note, 20 ultra and the Samsung Galaxy note 8. Now both of these phones. You know the note 8 is the bigger older brother of the Samsung Galaxy note 20 ultra, even though the note 20 ultra is the bigger phone. Now it's going to be very awkward to do this comparison. These two are both really, really big phones, the note 20 ultra more so, and it has a huge camera bump on the back.

That makes it kind of top heavy, now price wise. The note 20 ultra cost 1300, which is pretty crazy. The note 8 costs about less than I think 300 dollars pretty much everywhere. I looked at so if you want to purchase these, you know for the prices that I find on Amazon, the cheapest ones I'll go ahead and link them down in the description below, so you can get them from there and help support the channel. At the same time, now, starting off with the front panel on both the Samsung Galaxy note, has a 6.3 inch. Super AMOLED display it's 1440p, and it's a pretty good-looking panel I'll, be completely honest.

You know, I thought it was a perfect panel when it first came out, and I still think it holds up extremely well. It does have kind of a weird texture to it. I don't know how to describe it, but the note 20 ultra obviously has a better display, but the Samsung Galaxy note 8 has a very, very good panel and the viewing angles are great has a little of bezel on the top and bottom. But it's really not too bad, but it is definitely more than what we're seeing nowadays with the note 20 ultra, it has far less bezel but, like I said before, I think you know it can be overlooked by a lot of people, and it's really not that big of a deal, and I think the panel on the note 8 is still good enough for the most part. With the Samsung Galaxy note, 20 ultra, on the other hand, has a 6.9 inch, dynamic, AMOLED display, and this one is also 1440p, but as you can see, it does look noticeably better than the Samsung Galaxy note 8. It has way less bezel around the whole entire display.

It still has that curved edge to it. So it's not a flat display, and it is a hole, punch display. I know it's kind of hard to see. You can see it. If I go like this, but it's a perfect panel.

You have a fingerprint sensor built into the display. The other big thing about this phone is that it does have that 120 hertz refresh rate as well, which is a really, really cool feature. The Samsung Galaxy note 8 doesn't have it the note.9 doesn't have it the note.10 doesn't have it either, but the note 20 ultra is the first Samsung Galaxy note device to bring this type of capability, which is a really cool thing. So, in terms of the panel, the Samsung Galaxy note, 20 ultra definitely wins there on the bottom, USB type c ports on both and both have hash pens, obviously right there. But the note 8 does have a headphone jack, which is really cool.

So if you like it, you got it there. If you don't care, then obviously you're in the same boat. As me, in terms of the thickness, you can kind of see that the Samsung Galaxy note 8 might be a little thicker. I actually don't really know they're both kind of in the same ballpark. I don't really think one is way, thinner or thicker than the other one, but I would probably say that the Samsung Galaxy note 20 ultra- is probably the thinner one between both of them so and on the back, similar setups kind of but different too I mean you have a dual camera setup on the Samsung Galaxy note 8, but the triple camera setup on the note 20 ultra, and it's a humongous camera.

Furthermore, I don't know they took this thing out of like actual DSLR and put it here. It's crazy! It's super thick as well. I like the note 8's, because it's flush, but the note 20 ultra has way more functionality when it comes down to it. Glass backs on both the note2 ultra does have this. You know frosted glass back, which is really cool.

The Samsung Galaxy note 8 has a standard glass back with a fingerprint sensor right here, so I think both phones feel perfect. The note 20 ultra, I think, feels the more premium one you have micro SD card slots on both as well. You have wireless charging on both but reverse wireless charging on the Samsung Galaxy note 20 ultra, which is really cool. So when it comes to the outside the Samsung Galaxy note, 20 ultra definitely wins, but the note8 is right behind it too for sure now, in terms of the software, this is a pretty big difference between these two. So the Samsung Galaxy note 8 is not getting any more software updates, it's stopped on android 9, and it's pretty much done.

You know you can't really even customize the specific versions I have, so it's pretty much stopping there. I think it's still getting security updates, but for the most part, it's not getting any more updates anymore, whereas on the Samsung Galaxy note 20 ultra, we just are getting started with software updates. This thing started off with android 10, and it's probably going to end off on android 13 is what I'm hearing, so it's going to get android, 11, android, 12 and then and off at android 13. So this thing is going to be lasting for a very long time and much longer than the Samsung Galaxy note 8. So that's a very important thing to keep in mind.

So in terms of software, like I said, the note, 20 ultra wins, but they have the same type of pros and cons like I stated before skinned version of android same type of features. The note29 has way more features, though, but I would still recommend putting a custom launcher on them: they're both stock. You know now like tweaks or anything like that. So what you see is what you get between both of these. So in terms of that, that really pretty much covers it up now, let's go and do a little of a speed test between them, but I'll go ahead and talk about the specs first, the Samsung Galaxy note 8 has that Qualcomm snapdragon 835 chipset outscore, CPU, arena's, 540 GPU and the six gigs of ram on all the models that are available for it.

With the Samsung Galaxy note, 20 ultra has a Qualcomm snapdragon 865 plus chipset, an outscore CPU, an arena 650 GPU and eight bags of ram on both models. I thought this thing had a 12 gigahertz option, but I guess not so let's go and see which one is the faster one between both of these okay. Now that we're back, let me go ahead and clear out all the apps in the background. Let's go and load up the play store three two one and the note 20 ultra. Definitely the faster one there and scrolling speeds.

You can definitely see the note 20 ultra is the way smoother way faster. When the note 8 is so sluggish, it's still it's definitely. You know skipping frames here and there and, as you can see, I mean I would definitely not prefer using the note 8. The note 20 ultra definitely looks a lot smoother there browser, let's see if one opens way faster about the same. I guess camera 321 and uh yeah I mean, I would say, maybe the note 20 ultra was the faster one there.

Now we have a bunch of these third party apps. So let's just get into it. We can do dune three two one and definitely, as you can see, the note 20 ultra is just so much faster when it gets into it. The note 8 definitely is there isn't some noticeable lag when it comes down to it, and I didn't even know if I clicked it right on the Samsung Galaxy note 8, which was your knowing, it's not the best feeling ever snake vs blocks 321 and even here again the note 20 ultra was able to boot up into that panel, and this isn't even that intensive of a game which is pretty impressive. For the note 20 ultra and getting into some gameplay you can see.

Uh gameplay is about the same. I thought there would be more of a difference, but there really isn't. So. I guess the know they're in terms of performance, for this specific game, they're about the same new cross road. Three, two one and again it looks to be that the Samsung Galaxy note 20 ultra uh.

What's the faster one from the beginning with, but you know we did get into that a little of a panel, let's get into some gameplay see if they glitch up at all- and I have a feeling they're, not they're, going to be about the same and yeah. They both look about the same they're, both not glitching. Up at all, we do temple run two three two one and, as you can see, the note 20 ultra was so much further ahead of the Samsung Galaxy note 8, and we are now getting into loading on the note 8, and I mean there's some big difference here, and it was smoother on the Samsung Galaxy note 20 ultra as well. It wasn't, as you know, skipped frames and laggy as the note 8. Now, let's get into some gameplay see if there's a big difference, and they look about the same as you can see.

Actually the screen. I think the screen looks a little sharper on the note 8, but I'm looking through the camera lens is probably not like that in real life, but in terms of gameplay they're about the same, your fruit, ninja, three two one, I'm probably gonna, run to another little screen here on the note 8 I already feel like. I am, I guess, not game plan one there, which is pretty surprising twitter. Three, two one and the note 20 ultra was the faster one. There we go and ended off with real racing three, two one and again loading speeds and just the loading in general.

The animation was faster on the note 20 ultra now I haven't seen this thing where, for some reason, real racing 3 is opening up faster on older game on older phones, and we do have to download it. I guess, on the Samsung Galaxy note, 20 ultra on the Samsung Galaxy note 8. So what I can tell you about the performance is so far I mean it doesn't even need to be that much further. The note 20 ultra is not only the faster one, but it's also the smoother one. In my opinion, whenever I did anything with this device, the note 20 ultra it is so fast and smoothing, and every and just opening up, apps and all that stuff is a lot faster.

On the Samsung Galaxy note, 20 ultra in my opinion, and even getting into the multitasking panel and loading up an app is faster on the Samsung Galaxy note, 20 ultra as well. So in terms of performance, the note 20 ultra definitely wins now hitting on the camera sensors on both these devices. Like I said before, triple camera setup. On the note 20 ultra, we have 108 megapixels, wide 12, megapixel telephoto lens and a 12 megapixel ultrawide sensor with a note 20. We have a 12 megapixel wide and then a 12 megapixel, telephoto lens and in terms of the camera sensors.

On both I mean the note: 8 has a pretty good camera setup. Overall, you know I've discovered I've. You know done so many videos, so many photos on the note 8 and every time I did anything with it. It was good. You know, I think it's a very good sensor.

You have that telephoto lens, which is really nice. The quality of these photos look perfect. You can do 4k videos at 30 frames, but you do not have any 4k60, which is a pretty big deal in my opinion, but it's okay. You have video. Obviously I would be surprised if it didn't have video and because it is on one UI one.

As you can see, it doesn't have like the more panel that the newer phones, like the note 20 ultra, have on android 10, but you still have a ton of settings and everything built in up here. As you can see, you have, you know all those different things that are pretty much already there on one UI 2. , but still, I think the camera quality is really, really good for the most part on the Samsung Galaxy note 8. , but the Samsung Galaxy note.20 ultra definitely takes that to the next level. Not only do you have, you know a better camera setup, you have more camera sensors, but you also have the ability of shooting 8k video on the Samsung Galaxy note 20 ultra as well, which is a really, really cool feature.

That's again, something that not a lot of phones have the capability of the camera quality of the photos and the videos look really, really good as well. You have the pretty much same settings of the note8, but more than you can see, you have a ton of different options and with the more updates this thing gets the more camera quality and more camera features. This thing will also get in the future, but on top of that with one UI 2, you have a far better pro video option as well. So you have, so you have all these different options here, but on top of that on the pro video mode, you have a ton of different options here that a lot of phones don't have and the Samsung Galaxy note 8 doesn't have. So I think this is a really cool thing.

The note 20 ultra definitely wins when it comes down to the photo quality and video quality, and all that you have higher resolution frame rates, you can film in you have higher quality photos. You have that additional lens. I mean it's a no-brainer, the Samsung Galaxy note.20 ultra definitely win when it comes down to the camera department. Now ending it off with the battery life. On both of these the Samsung Galaxy note, 8 has a 3300 mm power battery the Samsung Galaxy note.20 ultra has a 500 million power battery and when it comes down to it again, the note 20 ultra definitely wins it's a bigger battery size, but you do have that 120 hertz, which sometimes takes a little of the battery life, and you have better performance, but with the more optimized chipset and with that bigger battery it definitely you know evens out a little the note 8's battery isn't horrible, but the note 20 ultra definitely wins there too. So to kind of sum up this video man, if you currently own a note 8 going to the note 20 ultra- is definitely a perfect up you're going to feel like you definitely still have a super flagship device by you know a long shot, but you can always go for the note 20, and you can always go for even like the note, 10 or note 10 plus from last year and save yourself a lot more money that way too now the note 20 ultra is the best phone.

You can probably pick up right now from you know a Samsung standpoint. I still think that galaxy s20 ultra is the better way to go, but regardless between both of these, the note 20 ultra is definitely the winner by you know a long shot.
