Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Lite vs Samsung Galaxy Note 8 (Used) - Who Will Win?

Which is better the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1, the Samsung Galaxy Note 8. Well, in this video we're going to find out hi everyone. This is Kevin here coming at you with my comparison between the Samsung Galaxy Note, 10, Note 8, now, I think this will be a very interesting video because first thing, the note 10 Lite is a very recent device that was launched not too long ago in the Galaxy Note 8, while despite being several years old, is still a very decent device. I've made a lot of videos about this in the past already here on the channel, and it's a really solid phone, even in 2020. So I'm really wondering how this measures up against the note 10 light and what's interesting too, is that I actually bought the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 from Amazon, and this is a renewed device, so it was previously owned by someone else, but I was able to buy it for just two hundred and sixty-nine dollars. So that's a very good deal now.

Meanwhile, the Galaxy Note end and $29, so you can essentially buy two of these renewed Galaxy Note 8 for the price of one Galaxy, Note, tendon or 10. Light really is worth paying the premium over. This used Galaxy Note 8, so like I mentioned a second ago with the note 10 light, you are gonna, be spending about 280 dollars somewhere around there extra compared to a renewed Galaxy. Note 8, of course check out the links in the video description. This is the most up-to-date pricing for both devices, but let's now get into the specifications, so this version of the Galaxy Note 10.1 locked variant of the phone so will work with any GSM carrier. Now this version of the Galaxy Note 8 is the Snapdragon variant of the phone and is a GSM unlock device, but it does work with Bries.

I did put my Verizon SIM card in here, and everything worked completely fine, but if you do use a GSM carrier like AT&T or T-Mobile, either those work really well with either of these two phones now getting into the displays with the Galaxy Note 10.1 infinity, oh design, which is essentially this hole punch for the front-facing camera and with the Galaxy Note 8. We are getting a six point three inch display. Now both displays are Super AMOLED, which is awesome. They both look perfect with great looking colors and excellent viewing angles as well. With the Galaxy Note, 10.1 1080p is the resolution we're getting a PPI of 394 and a 20 by 9 aspect ratio and then with the Galaxy Note 8 we're getting 1440p. So a higher display resolution we're getting a PPI of 521, so a better PPI and an 18 and a half by 9 aspect ratios so with the Galaxy Note 8 we're getting a bit of a shorter but wider display compared to the note 10 light.

I definitely do prefer the design of the note 10 light, though compared to the Galaxy Note 8 and with the Galaxy Note 8 you can see up top and on the bottom we do have a little of thicker bezels, but overall I think the note 8 does still have a very decent looking design. Certainly still a good-looking phone and I would say that one was originally launched. This design was pretty cutting edge, but you can see when I put the bottoms of the two displays in the same level. There's no doubt that the note 10 light does have the larger display of two. In addition to that, with the note 10 light we're getting an 86.6% screen to body ratio compared to an 83.2% screen, a body ratio with the Galaxy Note 8, so a little of a better screen to body ratio with the note 10 light now up top here with the front facing cameras with the note 10 light we're getting a 32 megapixel front facing camera compared to the Galaxy Note 8, which features an 8 megapixel front facing camera. So here's a side-by-side with front facing cameras and both devices I think you'll be very pleased with the quality from either one, but I'll talk about that and a little more detail later on.

In now at the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 hundred and twenty-eight gigabytes of internal storage, with SD card expansion and at the Galaxy Note 8 we're getting 64 gigabytes and internal storage with SD card expansion as well. So you are getting half the amount of internal storage with the note 8 compared to the note 10 light. Now there is no wireless charging with the note 10 light, but with the note 8, you do get wireless charging. So if that feature is important to you, then you might want to consider going to the note 8 now as far as the fingerprint sensors go, the note 10 light features an in display fingerprint sensor that does work very well. It's nice and fast and responsive and with the Galaxy Note 8 we've a fingerprint sensor located on the back.

So that's also quick and responsive. You can see there that was very fast, but the placement isn't necessarily that convenient I definitely do prefer the form factor and placement of the fingerprint sensor. On the note 10 light you do get some additional features, though the note 8, you also get an iris scanner. Now the note 10 light in the note 8 also feature face unlock ?, so you really do have a variety of different options with both phones when it comes to unlocking the devices. Now on the backside of these two phones, we have the camera modules so with the Galaxy Note 10, megapixel, main camera, a 12 megapixel, ultra wide-angle camera and a 12 megapixel telephoto camera, and with the Galaxy Note 8, we have a dual camera setup on the back with a 12 megapixel main camera and a 12 megapixel telephoto camera.

So it is cool that both phones do feature telephoto. However, the Galaxy Note 10 white is the only phone of the two that does feature an ultra wide-angle camera. So if you are a big fan of ultra-wide, then you might want to go with the note 10 light now, with both devices. You do get portrait mode with both the front and rear cameras, which is a great thing to see. Now.

Both phones feature six gigabytes of RAM and with the Galaxy Note 10.1 in the Samsung Enos nine eight one zero processor and with the Galaxy Note 8 we're getting the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835. Now this is pretty eye-opening. This is the an tutu benchmark test scores with both devices, and you can see that the Galaxy Note 10.1 4/7 compared to a score of two five six: six, eight zero with the Galaxy Note 8, so without a doubt, you're getting a better and to benchmark score with the note 10 light compared to the Galaxy Note, 8 I would say overall the performance benefits that you'll be getting with the Galaxy Note 10.1 improvement. Over the note eight, however, the note eight will still be a very fast and good performing phone in 2020. Now, with both devices, you are getting 4k video recording on the front and rear cameras, which is awesome with the Galaxy Note 10.1, a massive 4500 million power internal battery and with the Galaxy Note 8 you're, getting a smaller battery at 3300 William hours. So if you do decide to go the renewed route you most likely will not be getting a fresh, a new battery with the Galaxy Note 8, which is yet another downside to going with this device compared to going with the no 10 light, which has a brand new 45 hundred million power internal battery.

So this thing should last for a very long time. Now, let's get into the software now the Galaxy Note tendered 10 with Samsung's 1ui 2.0 and the Galaxy Note 8 has received a variety of different software updates since originally being launched, but currently has Android 9 Pi with Samsung's 1 UI 1.0. Now Samsung has said that the note 8 will not be getting Android 10 or 1 UI 2.0. So this is the final update with the phone, but the good news, though, is that the note 8 has continued to get a variety of different security patches now. The last security patch that I got with this phone is in December 2019 and I, believe that is the final security patch.

The phone will ever get. So that's a bit unfortunate but at the same time, still cool that it has been getting security patches for such a long period of time and I didn't even realize this I'm actually downloading an update right now for the note 10 light, but it looks like after this update does install the phone will be getting the February 1st 2020 security patch. So I really appreciate that now that we've compared the specifications of these two phones, let's compare the hardware already talked a lot of front panels here on the two devices I think both phones do look really nice. Of course. I do prefer the form factor of the note ten light over the Galaxy Note 8, but I still think.

The note 8 is a very decent looking phone, even now in 2020, now take a look on the left side of these two devices on the Galaxy Note 10.1, I, CRO, SD card and SIM cards. So this is a dual SIM phone and both devices do feature metal bands running around the sides. So it's a nice premium, build quality feature and with the note 8, we have the volume up and down button. We have the big speed button here, so a dedicated big speed button and then take a look on the right side of the two phones. On the note 10 light.

We have the volume button, and we have the power button and with the note 8, we just have the power button on the top of the two phones. On the note 10 light, we have the noise-cancelling microphone and, on the note 8 we have the noise-cancelling microphone and slot for the micro, SD card and SIM card. Then take a look at the bottom of these two phones. They both feature a 3.5 millimeter headphone jack. They both have a USB-C port for charging and data transfer.

Furthermore, they both have a microphone they both of a speaker and they both have the S Pen, in fact, I'm very surprised at how similar the bottoms of these two devices look. It almost looks like the note 10 light is the successor to the note 8, even though after the note 8, we got the note 9, and then we got the note 10 and then on the backside. Both phones feature a nice looking design here. Of course, we have different styles for the camera modules, but I think both phones. Do you look good? Let's now do a speed test comparison between these two devices, so first I'm going to pull up the camera app.

So one two three go: it looks like the Galaxy Note 8 was quicker, pulling up the camera next, we're going to pull up, Google Chrome, so one two three go, and it looks like it's about the same on both devices. Next, let's go to Yahoo one two three go: it looks like the note.8 is quicker at pulling up Yahoo, let's go to engadget. com one two three go: it looks like an about a tie with the two devices. Also, look at this side-by-side here to get a good idea of the differences of the display quality. It looks like with the Galaxy Note 8 we're getting a little of warmer colors compared to cooler colors with the note 10 light, but with phones have nice and smooth pinch-to-zoom smooth scrolling with both phones as well.

Let's now pull up this link, one two three go: it looks like the note.8 was quicker, pulling up that link, but overall, very good and impressive web browsing performance with both phones. So here is the S Pen, with the note 10 light here. Is the S Pen with the note 8, so they look pretty similar, not too different. Overall I, don't think you can switch just probably break one of the devices, but let me try to put the note 8 S Pen. Well, ok, I! Don't even want to risk that.

Actually, let's try the note 10 lights, S Pen into the slot for the note 8 yeah I, don't want to risk it. Yeah I, don't want to get one of these S Pen stuck but yeah I mean both phones. Have the S Pen I mean overall, it's a great feature. I know that many people like if it's kind of one of those features that you either use all the time or you literally never use, but it's still a great thing to have. It neatly hides in the device, so you don't have to worry about losing the S Pen.

Overall, it's nice like I, said I, don't really know what else to say about the s-pen I mean you're, getting the full abilities, of course watch my individual reviews with both phones to really get a good idea of everything you can do with the S Pen in more details about that. But both phones do have that feature. I would say that really what makes the note n light stand out is the fact that it does have an S Pen but, of course, and put up against another note device. That's not really a benefit at all. So overall, in my opinion, which device is worth getting, I would say that if it's important to you to have one UI, 2.0 and Android 10 I would go with the note 10 light. In addition to that, you're getting double the amount of storage, with the note 10 light, and you're getting a better looking in my opinion for factor, but with the note eight you're saving a lot of money, you're getting a 1440p display, you're, getting an iris scanner, slightly, better camera quality overall, not really too many major benefits with going with Note 8 over the note 10 light, besides saving a lot of money, so it really depends on your budget.

Also keep in mind that if you do buy this phone renewed or used, which I actually recommend generally, you will be dealing with a battery that isn't quite as fresh as a brand-new device. So that's worth considering ? one other thing I want to mention, too, is that if you do buy a device from Amazon renewed, you do have a very generous return policy, so check that out as well. So if you are concerned about the battery lasting you for a short amount of time, potentially you will have the opportunity to try it out with the phone, but I hope you enjoyed this video. Let me know anything in the comments. Give it a thumbs up subscribe to the channel and I will see you in the next video.
